Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

I went to the DCL website yesterday and saw I finally got a room assigned. We've been GTY Cat 4 since we booked and now know we will be in room 8542. I found it interesting that when I logged onto my DU reservation, it still showed GTY. I email our res agent at DU yesterday but she has not replied back.

We still show GTY Cat 6. I'm somewhat surprised that they don't clear GTYs highest category to lowest.

We were GTY Cat 6 until a couple of months ago when our cabin was assigned so it seems they don't even do whole categories at a time. :confused3

Did you all see the steal on the main page through Dell? A Belkin Mini Surge Protector with 2 USB Chargers for your iPod/iPhones. It has three outlets. The MSRP on it was $21.99 and today it's $9.00!!!! Shipping is free as well, I only paid $9.72 with tax for it with 3-5 day shipping. Talk about a space saver.

I have one of these, it is great.

I've got some more questions please?

Any news on the pirates night/ vikings night?
Will there be fireworks?
When we cruised from Barcelona we have photos of us in front of a board with the route map behind us, were able to purchase pins of the ports etc. Will this be the same for this cruise? We're pretty local so to have Disney Cruise merchandise with Dover on it etc would be cool!

Thanks!
Kit

Well when I asked concierge awhile back they did say there is supposed to be a Pirates Night, don't know about fireworks though.

I know the current TA had pins available on it so I would assume there would be pins for our cruise as well. I've never known Disney to miss an opportunity to sell pins. I imagine if they had known how popular Vinylmation was going to be they would have had vinyls available as well.

Hey Everyone,

Upcoming "Passport to Europe" with Samantha Brown will be on the Northern European Capitals. I've got my DVR set. I think there are a couple of episodes. The first one is 4/26. The description wasn't very informative, but the different episodes had different original air dates, so I set it to record all and I'll just delete if they double up.

Thanks for the info, Virgil, on the download of the tourguides. I haven't looked at them yet, but had the kids download all of them. Hope there is good info there.

I had an old episode of Rudy Maxa in Copenhagen saved. Got excited watching that the other day!

Thanks for the update Jennifer! I would set my DVR as well, however, we don't get the same shows at the same time as you folks do south of the boarder. I will look up our travel channel, and see if it will be aired in Canada!

We are still GTY Category 4.

Also, I just changed our Oslo excursion. Instead of doing the Viking Heritage tour which would have taken most of the day we are doing the Oslo highlights in the morning and then plan to explore Oslo on our own in the afternoon. The highlight tour takes us to Holmenkollen, the site of the 1952 Olympic ski jumping competition and a ski museum. I thought this would be pretty interesting for our family of skiers. We also tour the Vigeland sculpture park.
I haven't decided what we will do on our own during the afternoon in Oslo. Any ideas? One thing on the agenda will be lunch.

I think that there's a law that you have to visit Vigeland sculpture park and Akershus Fortress.

DH and I will be travelling with our 2 sons both 1 yrs. on this cruise. It was originally my parents planned cruise, since DH and I had orignally planned the WBTA, but had to cancel when I found out I was pregnant. Since my parents are graciously letting us tag along, they planned the whole trip including excursions. I was wondering what your thoughts were on these excursions with little ones, I love opinions and thoughts. Here are the excursions they planned for themselves:

Dover: Highlights of London including the London Eye
Oslo: Viking Heritage
Copenhagen: Charming Copenhagen - Walk and Cruise
Warnemunde: Cultural Splendor of Berlin
St. Petersburg: Evening Canal Boat Tour
St. Petersburg: Peterhof Parks, Fountain and Train Ride
Helsinki: Helsinki from Land to Sea
Stockholm: Skansen Museum and Swedish Fairytales
Dover: Leeds Castle

Also, if you have any insight into these excursion, it would be greatly appreciated (example: time of day). I guess it is all subjective too if there is room left on these excursions, we have not booked yet.

Thank you in advance,
Ayden

Welcome to the group Ayden!!!! I wish I could give you some insight into those tours, but we've got different ones booked. But I know your parents had to have picked some awesome excursions. All of the excursions sounded great and in some ports it was hard to choose just one.

Even if you can't book the excursion online, be sure to check once you get onboard. There might be some saved spots for onboard bookings or they could put you on a waitlist. Then of course since it is Disney there's always pixie dust and there could "magically" be room for two adults and two 1yr olds.:wizard:

It's getting closer and closer everyday and I can hardly wait, except for the part about leaving our new puppy at home for two weeks.

Good Morning Cruisers!

I am glad that flights have started again in Europe, even if the volcano is still acting up!

It is really ugly here today. We had high winds and snow last night - cannot report how high the winds were because the wind gauge is frozen But it sure looks like winter out there! Still blowing and snowing, but not that cold, so it should not last too long.

Have a great week all!

Just received a call from dcl to confirm our transfer from the port to lhr after the cruise. No news gathered from the call, the cm said there were delays ect recently due to the volcano.

Hi! I haven't looked at the details of any of the excursions as we're travelling with two little ones, 3.5 and 6 months so plan just to play it by ear/ diy. I think it will be hard work but then life with children is isn't it ;) at least on the cruise there will be people waiting on us hand and food. We have however been to Leeds Castle several times. Its a very relaxed place to visit with nice facilities (toilets with baby change etc), the castle itself, an aviary, birds of prey displays etc. It also has a great play area with a big sandpit for your little ones and lakes with ducks to feed. It would make a nice visit I would think. Hope that helps a bit.
