Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Gydell~ Happy or belated Happy Birthday? How does a nice trip to the Baltics for your b`day sound?:goodvibes Hope it was a good one!

Scott~ Python has to have done something with Vikings somewhere!

Julie~ welcome aboard! My DD will have just turned 13 so maybe the girls can get together.

I am also wondering if it is time to start a list of who's participating in the FEs.
Or do we just assume that if your on the master list that you are playing?

Thanks! That's what my DH said for Christmas and B'day!

A list is fine with me. Not everyone will be participating so it makes it difficult. Even with a cut off date there are people that sign up at the last minute. If more sign up that what I have guessed then I give to those that first signed up and go from there. I always have more than enough so I should be ok.

Good morning everyone. I haven't posted before but I have been reading. We have been busy the past year with work and marathon walking (9 half marathons and 4 marathons this past year). We are on the Barcelona to Dover repo so we will see many of you on that cruise. Where is the fish extender list and how do we sign up? Alex

Hi First Timers!
I see that you were on the Med ignaugral cruise so Im going to go out on a limb here and assume that you were the wonderful couple that put together the FE gifts of practicle baggies, which 1) came in VERY handy, 2) I still have and its in a scrapbook and 3) Thank you!
We do not have a list for the FE as of yet, but if you go to the first page their is a place to register and also a Secret Mickey exchange as well.
and if you are not this couple, excuse me, and glad to have you with us too!

I read that also. That kinda freaks me out. How are we going to get them and spend them before we leave when it's only 2 days? Please let me know what you find out!

Marianne
It is no longer illegal to export Rubles.

I don't mind planning dinner in Dover. I'll send an email to my B&B and ask for a recommendation. I'll post on the board what she suggests, and let you all know. If you want to attend, please pm me with numbers. Thanks.

Mary Jane

Thanks!

Can I ask what everyone is doing regarding the different currency? Are you bringing it with you? I don't remember what we did while on the Med cruise. Do you think there is a money exchange at the port in Dover? We are spending a few days in Paris before the cruise so that would be Euros I believe and then money for the different ports and then our few days after the cruise that we are spending in London would be Pounds? Oh my:confused3

Alex-Since you do all the "first" cruises, are you doing the "first" shipyard tour for the Dream?

If you cruise with me and you are on the roster you get a Fish Extender gift. I don't care if someone returns with a gift or not. The original intention was to share with others without expecting anything in return.

(And I started the Fish Extender tradition.. so I should know!! :thumbsup2)

Of course I started last night checking on those cruisers that we have not heard from in a while, and the search function went down :rolleyes1 So I will try again tonight to check on folks.

On the Med Cruise we brought about $250 in euros. This was easier because there was only one currency to deal with unlike this cruise where each country has their own currency. I understand that a few of the coutries accept Euros. We are planning on a couple of $100 in Visa Gift cards to use in Russia because we have gotten reports that credit card numbers are easily stolen here. Then get about $100 or so in each of the other currencies depending on ATM machines to get anything else we need.

I am looking for a family or group of people to go on a private tour in St. Petersburg. We have 2 adults in our party. If you already booked your private tour, would you like to share some information and/or you may let us join your party. I know the prices would be lower for a large group (but not as large as the DCL excursions)

My cabin mate and I are very interested in joining you on private tour. We definitely think this is the way to go to see the most sights.

Yup.....there are a few cruises that I have been on and we have joined too late to be on the "official" gift exchange list, but we gave out gifts to everyone on the disboard list, and we even got gifts! It's all fun! I have actually got mine planned! Still thinking about Secret Mickey........:earboy2:

:worship:Thank you Debbie! I forgot I was traveeling with the Queen of all FEs and you are correct so I shall put this question to bed and worry no more!
One more thing off the list and btw, mine are all finished!:cool1:

Thanks ... I'm surprised that Disney said otherwise :confused3

I'm going to bring a small amount ($100 worth) of each currency (little more in Russia). I figure what I don't spend, I can exchange at the port. I'm also going to take some US cash and a credit card,in case I see something I can't live without!

is there a t-shirt on one of the cafepress or zazzle websites for our cruise??

There is a link on the front page, but just in case here it is

T-shirts

Thanks for the info about the rubles and what others are doing about all the different currencies we will be dealing with! The web site for the t-shirts is so cool! Now I gotta just decide which ones I want! As for the Fish Extenders…oh my gosh, some of you are already done (I am assuming with the gifts) and I haven’t even made my FE yet! And now I find that I am cruising with the Queen of FEs! Wow, I am really going to have to investigate ideas for FE gifts more thoroughly! And I haven’t even started thinking about Secret Mickey which I definitely want to participate in! I gotta get to work.

I ordered a small amount of each currency online with Bank of America. It has no service charge and they even have rubles. (It is no long illegal to sell rubles according to the US Customs page.) I like to have at least some local currency with me.

Good Morning Cruisers!

I've never participated with the Fish Extenders and am looking forward to making one for our door! I'm already looking out for small gift items but I was wondering do I plan on buying enough items for each room, or for each person etc. Also how do you make sure you have enough items? Is there a date that is similar to the Secret Mickey cutoff? Sorry if these questions have already been covered, I'm just getting excited and don't want to mess this up!

Thanks,
Marianne

Oh also, how do I get the cool Inagural Baltic Cruise design?

Thanks again!

I think Debbie and others have answered your questions about this, we generally bring something small that we can give to everyone.

Does anyone know what they will be doing on the ship while in the Baltic? On the past cruises there has always been a Pirates of the Caribbean night. And has anyone rented the tux from the ship for formal night? We are wondering if that would be easier than packing a suit?

Thanks!

Marianne

As we are traveling light (one checked bag each), we are not going formal on this cruise, we will just have some nice shirts maybe a tie for Scott, and I have some nice shirts to go with a velvet shirt. We have known folks who rented tuxes, and that seemed to work out OK from the stories we heard.

I think most of you know that my daughter Jamie is graduating from high school and this is her graduation present.

Anyway, good news to share.....she got her acceptance letter last night via email and has been accepted into Brigham Young University (they have a wonderful music/dance/theater program). She will start this fall.

Needless to say, she is very excited!

Congrats to Jamie!!!!

We have gotten some Euros and Pounds, mostly for our pre cruise trip. For the ports, we will probably just use credit cards. May hit the ATM for a small amount of local cash at various ports.

The VISA gift cards are a good idea for Russia, I did read that VISA credit cards are accepted, if you pay in cash, it needs to be new bills.

We have gotten some new snow here - nothing like the east coast, and are expecting some more tomorrow. Now it is time to get out and do some shoveling!

Have a great day all!
