Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Hi First Timers!
I see that you were on the Med ignaugral cruise so Im going to go out on a limb here and assume that you were the wonderful couple that put together the FE gifts of practicle baggies, which 1) came in VERY handy, 2) I still have and its in a scrapbook and 3) Thank you!
We do not have a list for the FE as of yet, but if you go to the first page their is a place to register and also a Secret Mickey exchange as well.
and if you are not this couple, excuse me, and glad to have you with us too!

It is us. If it's a first for DCL, we are on the cruise. We are glad the bags of stuff were so useful. Alex

Alex-Since you do all the "first" cruises, are you doing the "first" shipyard tour for the Dream?

Since it is not a "cruise" we are not doing the ship tour. We will do our tour of the Dream on the inaugural sailing. For the price of the shipyard tour we could do 3 or for cruises on the Dream!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

There is a link on the front page, but just in case here it is

T-shirts

Was there somewhere in the UK to order too? Or is there a high quality version of the image please to try to do something similar? Because its fab :-)

Kit ... Have you ever eaten at Cullins Yard in Dover? If so, do you recommend it?? Thanks.

I haven't but dh's eyes lit up when I showed him the site so may try to check it out sometime :-) Things like that have kind of gone on hold since starting a family lol.

Has anyone here ever rented a tux or suit through DCL? Likes, dislikes... I'm thinking about it for Jason so we don't have to pack his suit.
I did this previously - and my future son in law has done it. It worked out ok - much better than I thought it would. I don't plan on taking a tux this time -so this is an option I'll talk about with Frances.

I found out today that we don't arrive in Dover until about 8:30 the night of the 11th so we may have to miss dinner. We will stop by the restaurant to see if anyone is still around.

I went to the fabric store to pick up some material to make my fish extender and you should have seen the puzzled looks when I answered the question "what are you making". When I told the first clerk that I was making a fish extender she worried that the material wouldn't hold up to the water:rotfl: After I explained further she still looked confused but accepted it. I can't wait to see what I wind up with since I don't have a plan yet:rotfl:

I have also had to do some BIG explaining to describe FE's! I think it's so much fun! And some people are so creative......I might try to do something different this time....maybe! Connie

Not sure if it's on in your area today or not but at 230pm today PBS is showing the Rick Steves' Europe show on "South England: Dover to Lands' End".

How appropriate :goodvibes

NEVER MIND----they're doing something in France instead.... :(

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area Rick Steves' Europe is doing "The Czech Republic Beyond Prague" of course we've had instances where what they show isn't what the title is:confused3 So I will definately check the channel again at 2:30pm. Thanks for the heads up!

I do like Rick Steves shows....and his books too. I am copying a couple pages from the Rick Steve's Scandinavia book that I got from the public library.

I did reach out and contact some of those we have not heard from in a while. A few have cancelled this cruise :( Still waiting to hear from others.

So the list is updated as well as the stats on the bottom of the page.

If we have any lurkers out there jump on in!!

We found his 2009 version on clearance at the book store! It is a great book. So the pages that we need will just get torn out of thre book and when we finish the city, throw it away.

Spending alot of time planning for each city. Getting tired of looking at the books and websites and just want to get there!!

Sorry, I don't know what it is and where it is?:confused3

I can't remember the exact Category, but it's an obstructed oceanview room or as it's known a secret porthole room.

I think it's priced a little bit below the regular oceanview rooms because it's obstructed, but I don't think there's that much of an obstruction.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for sending out that e-mail 'noodge' Debbie because, while I have been lurking on the thread for months, I haven't taken the time to write anything. :guilty:

So, here it goes! We are flying into Paris a week prior to the cruise. We intend to spend most of our time in and around Paris but may take a day trip to Mt. St. Michel or the D-Day beaches (my vote is for Mt. St. Michel, but I am traveling with my husband and son (he'll be 15 by the time of the cruise) and they may prefer the D-Day beaches. We'll be flipping a coin soon!

My intent is to take the train from Paris to Calais and then take the ferry over to Dover from there. It should be an adventure!

After the cruise we are staying in London for a week at the Chancery Court hotel, however, we will more than likely spend most of our time outside of the city (Bath, Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, maybe York, etc.). We wanted to go to Wimbledon, but the ticket prices were outrageous and I didn't want to mess with the 'lottery' system they have going. We may try to see Andrew Lloyd Webber's new show though....I thought I'd better wait to see what the reviews were first though..... :)

We fly home from London on the 30th. So, it will be a crazy month away from Ohio but also the trip of a lifetime! I'm hoping to get more involved in the site the closer we get.

Okay a dumb question, but it looks like you all are making/buying your own FE's then is there a gift exchange with a hidden mickey game?

I'm planning on getting a fish extender and would like to participate in gift exchanges or whatever you're doing. Let us know. Sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum before. :flower3:
