We haven't paid in full yet. Maybe they starting off with those who haven't cruised with Disney before, the enclosed card does say "We're so excited you are embarking on your very first Disney Cruise Line adventure".

Thanks for the info! I had just come to ask if anyone knew just that! So ..... how does boarding actually work, the earlier we arrive the earlier we board? Turn up early for ticket, go away and come back at a set time??

As far as I know from reading trip reports, when you check-in you are given a boarding group number - the earlier you get there the lower number you get and therefore the earlier you board. I'm so excited about the cruise I plan on getting there for 10:00 and worry about how to spend the 3 hours once I get there.

We decided to stay at Number 1 Guest House in Dover on June 10th and 11th. I wanted to stay in Canterbury, but it will be nice to just have a place to drop our luggage.

We can always take the train up to Canterbury. We want to walk around the cliffs of Dover, so that's why we are staying there. Also, easier to get to the ship earlier!

How many times do I have to tell you to stay at the LODDINGTON house?!?

Oh no sorry I didn't mean that, the reviews look really good, I've never stayed there as we're so local (we did stay at the Premier Inn for a few nights before we moved down here, which is very close to the Loddington House on the map). Perhaps if we get a chance over the next few weeks we could go and take a look for you guys. Its the town itself that isn't very shiny, if you walk along the sea front you can go through an underpass to the town and that area looks a bit tatty, and some of the other hotels and businesses on the main road have shut making it look run down. But the high street has the normal shops. It also has the museum with the Bronze Age wooden boat which is well worth a quick look. There is another museum, the Roman Painted HOuse, which we really enjoyed but looked like its signage had been done in the 70s And of course there is the Castle which we love! Canterbury has a lot more sights to see and is very close of couse.

I'm afraid I'm not really keeping up with everyones travel plans so I can't remember if you're arriving early to look around or are just needing somewhere nice to sleep before the cruise.

I went on a website about Walking on the cliff paths around Dover. That looks absolutely wonderful! Also, there's a boat tour that goes out into the sea, where you can get some fabulous photos of the white cliffs. Chuck and I plan to sppend one day exploring the cliffs and one day on the train up to Canterbury, where we are going to meet some friends for the day. Then on the day of sail, we plan to have breakfast, pack and go kinda early....but I would rather spend time around the shore and the town than sitting around the terminal interminably!

Question: I am going to Europe in a few months, and I will be stopping in Warnemunde,Germany for a day. Can you please tell me what there is to do. Is Rostock better?
ANSWERS:

v I lived in Rostock for a year and I would say if you only have a day to kill, you may as well spend it in Rostock. There is plenty to see and do there (whether it be shopping, sightseeing) and Warnemunde, esp in the summer is lovely, a real holiday town. If you like fish, then I really recommend dining at one of the fish restaurants there.
v I was lucky enough to spend an entire week in Rostock (and Warnemunde) last summer, visiting a former exchange student. We could take the tram from her family's condo to the central Banhof, then the train out to Warnemunde. We spent time exploring the back streets and beaches, as well as several days in the old section of Rostock.
v We stumbled upon the lovely village of Warnemunde while exploring the north of Germany via an independent car tour about 12 years ago. We have returned every year to stay there 3-4 weeks each summer. We live in Texas where the summer temps are HOT while the temps in Warnemunde usually top out in the 70's. There are several delightful and reasonable restauarants and it is a lovely village to explore on foot. The main canal street is very popular and crowded but becomes less so on the back streets that have well restored former fisherman's houses and apartment buildings. There is a long ribbon park heading westward along the main road or a promenade close to the beach. Rent a strandkorbe on the beach for a day and enjoy the sun and people. You can chose from the nearby "textile" beach or the "natural" beach further west. The strandkorbe costs about $11 for the day but you can rent by the hour or half-day also. Warnemunde is a great place to relax and very few tourists except for those cruise passengers who opt not to go to Berlin (a day is FAR to little to do Berlin justice)or Germans on holiday. If you want to shop then go into Rostock which has a compact center for walking and shopping. There are especially good sales in late July and early August. We normally conclude our retreat to Germany each year with 3-7 days in Berlin which has become our favorite city in Europe and we never tire of it.

There is! We go up there sometimes with a flask of coffee and a newspaper ... well pre children ..... to watch the boats coming and going in the port below. There is a nice cafe too. We've done the walk a few times, get it right and its a pleasant stroll .... take the wrong path and you have a few steep climbs!

We are so lucky to have a Kent native on our cruise! Where do you live? We have been to Kent a few times, but mostly only to take the Chunnel or the Hovercraft. I am very excited to have a little time to explore the area.

Where is the tourist kiosk in the port where the cruise ship is docked in Warnemunde? If you go to Rostock via the train, where in Rostock are you actually getting off from the train station? Are you already in their downtown area or do you still have to take the bus somewhere? Is Rostock the next train stop after Warnemunde? Thanks.

Single ticket is EUR 1,70. Mini group (2-5 persons) day ticket is EUR 12,90. These tickets cover all means of local public transport inside Rostock/Warnemünde.

Hi fellow Northern Sights & Mickey‘s Magical Delights travellers.

I would like to organize a Secret Mickey gift exchange for our group. Secret Mickey is a fun way to pass time on the cruise and to get little unexpected gifts to bring even more smiles to our faces. Over the course of the 12 days, you will deliver secret gifts to your chosen recipient. Use your imagination when delivering your gifts. You can surprise them at dinner with a gift, leave them in their Fish Extender or just their fish, be creative. You may want to save a gift to exchange in person on reveal day.

I would like to limit this Secret Mickey to adults only (16+). If someone would like to set up a children’s gift exchange as well, please do so. I think the two should be kept separate, otherwise the numbers get too big for one to handle. I would like to set a limit on the gift cost to $25. These gifts are meant to be small tokens, not extravagant items. To give you an idea on gifts, on my last cruise, my gift recipient was a couple. I bought them each a mug on sale ($4.00 each) at the Disney store, a pirate yoyo (2 for $1 at the dollar store), a princess mini frisbee ($1 at the dollar store), some Disney coasters ($2.00 at the disney store on sale), and a Vancouver Olympic pin ($13) as a final gift. If your gift recipient is into scrapbooking you may want to get some special stickers for them. If you are crafty, homemade gifts are fun as well. The main idea is to have fun!

Regarding reveal day, on the second last Sea Day (I believe June 22) we will meet on board to reveal who our Secret Mickey’s are. On our last cruise, we met in Sessions. As the cruise gets closer, I will talk to DCL and see what they suggest. Things may change, so don’t be surprised if you get a call from guest services with a different location. I think we met around 2 to 3 last cruise, so we can try to plan for around that time.
