Good Morning Cruisers!

Staying up as long as possible is a good strategy. Once, after an all night flight, we went straight to DL Paris - I tripped and fell on my camera - the one we bought for our 1st trip to Africa, smashing the lens off the camera. We spent the next day at the Mall outside DL Paris finding a camera to replace the one I had broken - we actually found the same model camera - just one year newer and all our batteries and media cards worked with it. When we got home, we claimed the broken camera on our homeowners policy - and they paid for it! The moral of the story - do not take the new expensive camera out with you sightseeing after being up all night on a plane!

So how many days before the cruise are you staying in London? We are talking about whether to stay a few days in England before or after the cruise.

So what's the count, everyone?

Who is staying BEFORE?
Who is staying AFTER?

We're leaving on the 9th and arriving on the 10th. Plan on staying in London on Hilton points. After the cruise we plan on staying a night at the Heathrow Hilton so that we can fly out early the next morning.

Actually suites were always due at 90 days. You had to pay early to get the ability to book excursions at 105 days.....

So I'm really confused at this point....

I haven't looked but that must be when ours is due as well. We're in a Cat. 2. I've never noticed there being a different due date for suites either, you just had to pay sooner so you could book at 105.

Of course they might have changed it to avoid confusion. You have to be paid in full to book at 105, but the final payment really isn't due until 90, so if they make it before the 105 window this eliminates any confusion.

So it looks like we might get a good head count mid Feb. (unless Disney has some good late deals). That is when I will start seriously thinking about FE gifts.

It has been cool and rainy here - yesterday it only got up to about 55 degrees, todays high is supposed to be 62 degrees.

Lynn, when do you get your first snow of the season? We stop breaking 100 in late Oct.

We've had thunderstorms every night the last few days. When the dog wanted to go out around 3 AM, it wasn't actively raining for a change. Realizing that the American Airlines fares for our June 24 return were supposed to post to the web after midnight, I went to the computer to reserve three seats on the only return that gets us all the way home. Put an itinerary on 24-hour hold at 3:24 AM, then went back to bed.

In the morning, we discovered that the neighbor's very large tree had split at the base of the trunk and fallen across our front yard. Missed the house and missed their mailbox, but still an impressive sight. We never heard a thing, but that's probably why the dog wanted to go out.

Once it was a reasonable hour for such things, I researched round-trips through both Gatwick and Heathrow. Was pleased to find that my American itinerary offered better connections and a lower price than any other. I clicked the PURCHASE button and put a pretty hefty transaction (this is super-economy??) on my Disney Visa.

I have my fingers crossed for everyone that you'll be able to book exactly the flights you want & need.

Congrats on your airfare Laura!!!!

I looked into airfare with my TA this morning. We priced out BA in premium economy and for 4 of us the total was going to be right around $9950. My dad nearly gagged. I think we'll more than likely end up flying Delta, right now it's running around $6K for the four of us for a decent itinerary. I'd rather fly cheap and be able to spend several days in London than to fly expensive and only have one day in London.

Oh, MY! I am sure glad the wind wasn't blowing toward your house!

I am anxious to get our air finalized too, but now we are talking about visiting in London for a few days, and we are hoping to meet some of our English friends too while we are there. I am afraid we'll be waiting until Feb. or March to book our air.

Travel on a much smaller scale: Leaving this morning for a 1000-mile road trip that will be DD Katie's first real highway driving using her learner's permit. I'm guessing she'll drive the state highways, but that DH Bill will do most of the driving when we get to the interstate with all the big rig trucks barreling down on us at high speed. We're headed to Tulsa first to see "Wicked" and "Oklahoma!", then down to Arlington to see the Texas Rangers play baseball against Seattle.

I have a question: Does anyone know what the cost is for the roundtrip DCL transfers from the airport to the ship and back again. My original reservation has them doing the airfare w/transfers and they didn't break down how much is for each. I checked airfares last night and we can use our FF miles for an economy trip on one of the flights so I'd like to grab that while I can.

Also, for the return trip......what time is DCL saying is the earliest we can reasonably make?

Hard to say for Cheyenne, we have not lived here very long, and snow is not a big deal here - it snows - it blows away - no snow. It starts to snow in Dec., but we always have warm (50 degree) days here and there all winter long. In Jackson, it snowed every month of the year, but the first snow that was guarenteed to stay was at Thanksgiving, and it melted March to April. We used to take vacation the end of April every year to escape "mud season".

Laura - glad to hear that the tree did not hit the house! And that you got a good flight.
