Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Emily, sounds like your trip is just like ours, London before, DLP after!:)

Question: Have started planning my FE gifties and need to know if I can use the logo on the first page or do I need to seek permission somewhere?
I can tell you all what I want to do and see if its something you would like or just keep talking to Gydell and she's the only who gets to know, hhhmmmm.....:goodvibes

Afternoon all,

I started checking the actual room size of the standard rooms in London and Dover and discovered that most rooms are for 2 people...in a double or two single beds.....so we have to get at least two rooms...

Then there is the matter of things we consider standard parts of a hotel room, showers, heat, a/c, ensuite baths etc.......which are not part of many of the hotels in England.....

I do remember when we booked Wilderness Lodge all the internet posts about room sizes and wondering what the fuss was about :)

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a "hotel" without the basics you described - ensuite bath/ shower, possibly not air conditioning but then you hardly ever need it ;) They would generally come under the label of bed and breakfast or guest house. If you book with a major chain you won't get quirky or different or quaint but you tend to get a sensible price and generally they will have family rooms available with a double, sofa bed and pull out (at the very least). I'm thinking of places like Premier Inn, Novotel, Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge (if you pick the right ones some are a bit iffy) as well as more expensive places like Hilton, Holiday Inn etc etc.

I tend to go for chains like this as although I like the experiences that work out ok at individual hotels you do have to do your research to make sure they're up to spec. Its a big deal for us to go away to a hotel so I get dreadfully disappointed if they don't live up to my expectations. I use trip advisor a lot to read reviews and find hotels.

ps the Lanyards are fab! really appreciate them being posted to the UK and SO exciting to have something tangible for the trip

I hope we'll be able to do it. I really want to go to DLP and this might be our best chance.

Buttons, and hopefully a limited edition pin.

Interesting comments on the hotels in London. When we went on the Med cruise I chose to stay at a DCL hotel (it was a Hilton in Barcelona). It was a little out of the way but the advantage was being able to take DCL transportation to the ship (we came in 2 days early) and when we came back, being able to check in that morning since you get off the ship very early.

I'll probably compare DCL prices to what they quote directly or through a travel agent. I'd like to spend a few days in London either coming or going. Sarah (my DD) is an anglophile, always working on perfecting her British accent. Glad to hear there are some other girls roughly her age on the trip and hopefully they can hook up.

DCL has added the insurance back in with their quotes fot the Baltic cruises. Seems their unsure of what to do to fill the ship.

Another sunny day so another pool day. It's hard work being at the pool 6-7 hours a day!:rotfl2:

Evening all,

Thanks to all your suggestions, we have two nights booked at the Park Plaza...not through Disney and we saved just less than $600 usd a night.

That should pay for a few excursions....

Now we are waiting for the flights to open up, to finally see when we will fly in

Have been checking dates in May 2010 and believe it or not the flights can vary $1200 ...so we have to see what will work

Glad we have the year to plan it...wow..

Glad you finally got the rooms!

Lol..now watch the best cost flight will be the one the day of the cruise.....

Just one other question.....for our UK members

We are planning to spend about 2 weeks touring around England after our cruise in a Rental car.....what size/make would be you suggest....family of three and enough luggage for a 12 day baltic cruise

Any recommended car agencies or would the 'north american' ones be the best?

Good Evening Cruisers!

I finally found a hot spot here that works! Sounds like plans are coming along nicely. MJ - also tell your daughter from me that I think her design is great!

Have a great evening!

2 days of rain and now the sun is back! Guess where I'll be today???:lmao:
Tomorrow we head to the beach for a week!

One year from today and I will be heading to London!!!:yay::banana:

WOW, Gydell a year from now we will be on the Magic taking her to Dover....

Bruce, watch TopGear on BBCA they will surly have suggestions. I ahve alway wanted to get a VW micro bus camper and follow the Tour de France, some year.

Got my run in and the pups fed, They would never let me forget them. No wind when I started and it just started up after I got home. Good timing. Clear skies so maybe a motor bike ride later.

Brushed the pups.

Pot of ham and beans on for meals this week. Amazing what ya find in the freezer.

Have had a herd of Antelope hanging out near the house this week.

I don’t know what is up but I seem to be tired all the time. I think I need a vacation or to retire.

Very touching to watch the D-Day ceremony. Hope to visit the beaches next year, I feel it will be very moving.

Just noticed a Robin gathering nesting material, and heading to the aspen tree,

I forgot to say that as of today ....... our cruise is paid in FULL!
