We will be getting there for the afternoon and I saw that people were planning to go shopping etc. I'm not sure if we'll want to go shopping - will the Metro center be "heaving" does it have a nice big M&S (this may persuade me). Is everyone else going shopping ?

Hi Sam,

Yes there is a M&S, on the big side :)
I should think it will be rather busy;) with Xmas shoppers and the Northern meet crowd..:)

The M&S is quite nice, but it will definitely be heaving. Still, the worst bit is the parking, so you could always walk.

Well this was what I was thinking ;) but wasn't sure if anyone else was considering the pub, and then which pub?

Sam, I was thinkin this might pose a 'problem' for some Meeters so am in the middle of concoctin a 'what to do at The Reunion Meet' with links and ideas. Been a bit busy but should get it posted ternight.

We've been to The Metro centre the last two satdys and it's been unusually 'quiet' (ie not as heavin as it usually is) for the time of year - the parkin's the worst but that's not a worry in your case. I was plannin on droppin yers off at the Metro Centre before I go to the match and sortin summat out re lifts back, taxis etc.

There is a pub adjoinin the HIE but not sure what it's like. There's at least one pub in the Metro Centre as well as nice 'themed' - but probably expensive bars in The Mediteranean Village - here's the Metro Centre site and map to give yers some starter ideas.

There's a UCI cinema on site for them wantin to watch Harry Potter 2 (again!) or summat to their taste.

If you wanted to stay around the hotel we could ask them to open the function room early and yers can start the party whenever yer like.

Sam,

We've got the same dilemma. Normally I wouldn't pass up on the opportunity to do some shopping, but I'm not sure I want to contend with the Christmas crowds. What time will you be arriving?

OK,

I'm puzzled? - why would you want to go to M & S? - assuming there's one near to where you live?

I would have thought that the stock would be the same across the country?

(Perhaps it's a girly thing) - LOL

Yes Shaun it is more likely a "Sam" thing thank a girlie thing for the following reasons -:

1. I would go into a M&S wherever there was one becuase it's habitual for me

2. M&S do have different stock in different parts of the country and also they carry more of different sizes - in the past I have found it easier to get my siz in M&S anywhere but London.

Hope that helps to keep you up to date with the insights of "Fantasia Sam" ;)
