Northern Europe Tips and Advice

DH and I just booked 12 day Northern European cruise, and are looking for any tips, suggestions, recommendations for this itinerary.

Our family did the 2010 Baltic Cruise with DCL. We are an adventurous family that like to see and do as much in each port as possible. I did tons of research and we explored each port on our own with the exception of St Petersburg.
We saved tons of money and saw way more sights than if we were limited to 1 or 2 Disney Port Adventures. Don’t be afraid to use the public transportation systems or to buy a City Pass for discounts.
In St Petersburg we hired a tour guide and driver with a few families we met on the Cruise Meets thread for our sail date. We had a two day tour in a private van and saw every major site that was offered by Disney Port Adventures at a fraction of the cost. Yes, it was exhausting, but we were glad we did it!
