From accuweather.com:

Expert Senior Forecaster Joe *******i sees similarities between this storm system and the storm that struck the East in February 1979, when more than 2' of snow fell from northern Virginia to New Jersey.

YIKES!

But they are saying about 3-6 right now...they just don't know.

Is this the "Friday" storm? I'm in Virginia and they are soooo unsure of how to call this one. They said depending on the cold air pattern, it could be a big one or nothing. How's that for hedging your bets?

I tell you, I want that job :teeth: In what line of work can you be wrong about half the time & still keep your job?? Only one that I know of :teeth:

Anyhow, I have a concert Friday night about 95 miles south of here in Providence, I hope I can still go? I will be very disappointed if not :(

our local news here in new hampshire (wmur channel 9) is saying its going to be a close call for us in new hampshire. If the storm tracks 50 miles in any direction will make the difference for the weather we see here. But as of right now its suppose to do the same thing that the previous storm did a day or two ago, stay to our south and effect southern new england and the only thing we get in new hampshire or northern new england is the freezing cold weather.

Keeping my fingers crossed. The "storm" that was supposed to give us 1-3'' yesterday didn't even give us flurries, so I won't believe it until I see it. My roommate told us she'll let us know tomorrow whether it's going to snow or not; she feels it in her ankles when it's going to snow. I'm not sure that I'd like 2', since I've got to walk all over campus, but I do want more than an inch

They said last night with the warm moisture moving up from Texas, there will be a lot more "punch" to this storm. Not the "whimper" we just got.

Let's hope you are right. We are going to Lowell, MA on Friday night for a concert and we are planning on driving home afterward. No snow, please!

BTW - it is snowing here, right now. (VT/NH) border.

It can't be an easy job. Trying to give an exact predicition of something as unpredictable as weather has to be hard. And with the demands of people wanting to know what the weather is going to be further out than 3-4 days, has to be really hard to call.

I wonder how many "Blizzard of '79"'s they've predicted since '79? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

At least 2 a year  :rotfl:
There's no way we can get any sort of realistic prediction until Friday as to how the storm will hit. and even Friday is a crapshoot.

hi all,
bring it on.I 'll be working anyway, this last storm gave us nothing.

It will NOT snow! I have a long over due hair appointment, and dang it all, I'm getting there one way or another!! :worried:

I'll probably have a doctor's appointment....which means I might as well go to work since I'll be closer to work than home. But, I'm leaving at 3pm....I planned that anyway, but it'll really MEAN something if it's snowy!

Everyone go buy your milk, eggs and bread for the obligatory Storm French Toast.

Your "punch" comment reminded my about something my 12yo said before the last little snowfall a couple days ago. He was reminding me about a storm a year or 2 ago and he said, "Mom, remember the storm with the 1, 2 punch?". Uh, no, I can't say I remember. :rotfl: He loves the weather terminology and it's funny to hear him use it as if we walk around talking that way normally. :teeth:

If it's as bad as they often say it's going to be, the lights will go out and it'll just be bread and soon-to-be sour milk. There will be no way to cook the eggs unless you have a gas stove. I don't, so I'd better cook the eggs beforehand and make egg salad.

The snowfall prediction map on accweather is showing, at most in any location, 3-6 inches of snow. I fail to understand how they can show that and say that this will be a big storm. Big storm is 2 feet. 3-6 inches is not.
And I'll let you all know what the roommates ankles say tomorrow. She was correct when she told us Monday that we wouldn't get any snow yesterday. I just hope the same does not happen (though I hate to see her in pain).
