Maybe a little ot but I'm heading to Macy's and know there are so many nf experts here. DD7 desperately wants an oso. I'm reluctant because they don't seem very warm. Thoughts? I stopped by the nf store but they were not very helpful. Just told me they don't have warmth ratings.

Our 15 yr old has one. They're not very warm. Here in Virginia they're okay for things like waiting at the bus stop, but I wouldn't use them for any length of time outdoors in the winter. My best estimate is they're good for 40-60 degree weather if she's going to be outside for more than 20 minutes. The 15 yr old is old enough to make up her own mind, so I'm not fighting with her.

However, our 8 yr old has a NF Triclimate that I bought on clearance a year ago. I know they make Triclimates for adults in the Oso/Osito fabric. If they make them for kids, you might consider them. That way dd could have a cute jacket, but be prepared for colder weather too.

I went to Nextag.com and typed in my search. I found the 8 yr old's coat at 6pm.com, but I've also bought NF from KLMountainshop.com.

Macys is having their family and friends sale starting on the 4th. They have a 25% off coupon and NF isnt listed as an exclusion! I am going to order my dd one online as our Macy's doesnt sell them in the store.

It is a fleece jacket with no wind protection. I would be fine for a fall/spring day but it's no winter jacket.

Macy's website is honoring the coupon code today! I just ordered my daughter the Denali jacket she has been drooling over. Can't wait till Christmas morning!

She couldn't decide between the Apex and the Denali but Macy's didn't have the Apex so that made my decision easy.

Have you considered one of their three-in-one systems? I just ordered the Kyra Mossbud for DD12 after taking her out to try on a half-dozen styles from several different brands, and I'm convinced this will be plenty warm enough for her. The one I bought has the Oso-type NF fleece as the inner jacket, which zips into a waterproof/wind protective outer jacket. Each jacket can be worn separately or both together for the best cold protection.

If the heavy/silky fleece isn't a must-have, Macy's has the Mountain View 3-in-1. It uses the Denali-type short nap fleece, which isn't plush like the Oso, but also has the outer jacket with bottom drawstring and taped seams so it would be a fine winter jacket. My DD really wanted the silky fleece, though, and that one isn't available at Macy's - I ended up ordering hers from Moosejaw yesterday.

I love my Oso and wear it in much colder weather (like out to play in the snow.) I have never gotten cold in it at all and I'm cold natured.

Thanks everyone! Think we're going to go with a triclimate. Best of both worlds. Plus the friends coupon made it worth the upgrade.
