For those DIS'ers who normally get Hoppers if you've tried going with Non-Hopper ticket.......what did you think? We you sorry you didn't have hopping, did you miss it?

I have a 6 days left on a Non-Expiring Hopper ticket and was thinking of saving it for a longer trip in 2008...so for a shorter trip this coming May (4 park days) I was thinking of just getting a Expiring Base ticket without hopping .... just not sure if I'll really miss hopping. I know one day for sure I won't use the hopping because I plan on doing the KTKT and will just spend that whole day at MK, but for the days I plan on doing MGM and AK I think I might really miss hopping over to Epcot after MGM or anywhere after AK since they close so early.

Thoughts?

PS. I know I could upgrade the non-hopper, but if I'm going to wind up doing that, I might as well just use the ticket I already have.

I could not imagine staying in the same park all day. You have to mix it up.

MK in the morning and EPCOT in the night. In the last 15 years we have never bought a non hopper. EVAR

IMO, I would just use the hopper pass. I always try to stick to an itinerary and, for some reason, we stray. Like leaving a crowded park early and heading to Epcot for a drink etc. I personally wouldn't trap myself into having to do one park each day. Also, if you have a shorter trip it makes more sense to do the hopper...you can get in all of your faves in a short time.

Noticed your signature...I just turned 40 at Disney and decided that's where I want to spend my BD every year too! We went to MNSSHP to celebrate.

Have been asking myself that question for a month! We've always hopped. Either we've had length of stay passes or APs.

This next trip I'll have an AP but we're also getting two one day base passes with a package. So planned on saving a couple of days on DD's non-expir MYW ticket and using those for two days. I just dont know if we can stand not to hop!!!

Like Justkryssi said, you almost need it more for the short trips which this will be. Plus it's going to be Oct/Nov and things close early. If we want to be anywhere late, we'll need to hop to Epcot.

So we'll see but it is a concern.

I LOVE spending my B.Day at Disney! Originally I just went on my 40th to avoid any dumb "Over the Hill" parties, but I had such a good time, I'm going every year now too. I turned 40 in MK and then 41 in AK, next year I plan to turn 42 at Epcot (and it will also be my 1st solo trip!) and then 43 at MGM...after that I'll just start all over again! Then I might shoot for turning 50 on a Disney Cruise!

We automatically had the "hopper" on our Fl. PAP's. We never used them for the parks. We like knocking out one park at a time.

Years ago, we hopped and for us personally, it didn't work for us.

We usually hop, the only time we didn't was Sept '05. Considering we had 12 of us and 3 1/2 days, it worked. I can't imagine the confusion trying to hop with all of them! :rotfl: But me personally, I didn't like it. I don't like feeling I have to stay in one park. We hopped again after that and will always hop! :Pinkbounc

Can't imagine not hopping. It's become a tradition to go to EPCOT for dinner and illuminations (and a marguerita for mom). I think it is really worth the cost to have the freedom to move to another park (especially on the later days of vacation). We went to AK on EMH day once, and couldn't wait to get out of the place...it was a zoo :rotfl: .

I'm in the hopping category.

On trips with large groups, or with slower-moving members, one-park/day can be satisfying (and necessary), but for other trips (especially solo or couples trips) I couldn't imagine not having it.

Most days I go to one park for the morning, another for the afternoon, and another for the night. It's actually more common for me to go to three than it is to go to just two in a day.

However, again, I do see why some people prefer the slower-pace it provides. For most of my trips, especially solo, I like to maximize the time I can spend in the parks, and I wouldn't be caught dead in an EMH park without being able to park-hop before/after.

I find this most true in the off-season, where most nights AK is down by 5, and MK/MGM close by 7. I almost always go to Epcot for a couple of hours. I can't imagine heading back to the room at 7PM.

Like anything, it's all personal taste - don't let anyone tell you how you feel is wrong. If you think you can have a great time by sticking to one park at a time, then go for it. Only you know how you like to tour best.

That said, I know you said upgrading the new ticket would defeat your purpose, but it is always a possibility...so if at the end of the first day you realize you need a hopper, at least you wouldn't be stuck. You may not come out ahead, but you won't have to be disapointed with the rest of the trip if the "experiment" doesn't work.

We have always had hoppers and when I look back at my trip journals, we have rarely hopped. Usually we open a park, stay until we need a break, obtain a few fast passes before we leave and return to the same park in the early evening and use the fast passes and see the evening entertainment. I think hoppers are nice to have, but aren't necessary.

I never hopped before, but will be on my next trip. :thumbsup2 I like the option to be able to visit different parks in one day. :bounce:

We don't hop-seems like too much trouble. We do a park a day with a swim/nap/lunch break at the resort in the middle of the day. This trip we are doing 2 days each at Epcot and MK, only 1 day each for MGM and AK. I just like to concentrate on one park at a time.

We always get hoppers. We love the am EMH. When the park gets too crowded, we go to another.
