Norm and Shirley are back :-)

I wonder if the underwear gets mixed up sometimes. How many times does someone go home with someone else's underwear on? YUCK.

The sunsets for most part are "safe" unless you have the bare nakeds going on the boat rides - I am sure children are exposed to a great deal anymore all over the world - which reminds me to the somes that sent me a email on the "way I was speaking about my hometown and also they had the right to do as they wish" Yes you do have the right to do what you wish, but please not in my hometown - go find the right place for it ok - maybe Key West will never ever go back to normal, but we sure can start trying -
As I was saying I once did enjoy the sunsets at Mallory Square and yes the entertainment is really neat so its a choice as to what you feel would be ok for your child - me, most likely I would try it with mine and if that didn't work out - I would walk away - we can protect our children sometimes, but unfortunalty not always and I guess there comes a time when they must be prepared for the way things are now and not way back then in "all of our" days.
Believe me I do love Key West but as I said very disappointed.
Anyway I do have all the stuff on Key West for anyone that wants to plan things to do while down there -
Always

Shirley~

We were on the 11/8 cruise & down there the same time as you were. We were so disappointed in Key West. I can see how the town could have been a beautiful place years ago & understand why you love your hometown the way it was.... It's too bad commercialism & the exhibitionists have spoiled it...The area around where the Magic docked was really nice, but once you got around the corner it was a real surprise- yuck! We had expected a colorful "avante garde" community... Got more than we expected + some...

My 12 yr. old DD summed it up best- We were walking down Duvall St & she says " This place is full of bars, drunks and T shirt shops. Now I know where all those traveling carnies with no teeth go in the off season! We cracked up! It was so true...

All was not lost...We rented an electric car ( fun) for 2 hours from Reefmobile & explored Whitehead St. & the mansion area. Stopped at the beach next to the Casa Marina- very quiet & nice, rode through the Truman property & took pictures at the southernmost point of the US- all at a max speed of 17 mph! We stopped in the Fresh Produce cotton clothing store one of the mods here recommended ( very nice- thanks! ) and went back to the ship to relax & watch the sunset.

I think DCL would be very wise to skip Key West & go to Castaway Cay on Sunday. What a way to start your cruise! It can't be much further than Key West & if they leave CC at 5PM instead of KW at 10:30PM, they should be able to get to Grand Cayman about the same time on Tuesday. Going back to CC on Friday would be icing on the cake!

We enjoyed our walk to the Catholic Church very much, but missed the last Mass by an hour. We stayed off the main streets as Norm suggested - saw more of the real KW that way.

I am glad we "missed" the Naked Cruisers, but many of our friends had their "eyefull". Now that would have been a BIG surprise for all of us! I am laughing because I can just imagine my Mother's face if she saw that!!!!!

I'm not trying to shelter Michael (8) but don't want this stuff "IN HIS FACE". I know you are heart sick about the changes, Shirley - things do change and not always for the better. No one's hometown stays the same, but for you, I will presume to know how you must be feeling.

Mom sends her love and will call you soon - we are looking forward for dinner on Friday 4/16 with all of you! You pick the place, our treat!!

Hugs,

Rae
