Oh help help help!! Is there anything I can do to save it?? I was cleaning out one of our water troughs when the horses started to crowd me. One of them bumped into me really hard and knocked my ipod out of my [pocket and into the trough!!

I think she's flatlined................................

Is there no hope to rescucitate?

Do NOT use a blow dryer. Instead stand it up and just let it "sober up"

I accidentally put my DS thru the wash and I DID blow dry it, THEN it worked:lovestruc , for about 1/2 day and then died:eek: .
Went to APPLE next day, they said it was probably done for and it was, but said I NEVER should have blow dried it. I thought maybe it would dry it out, Who knows......................
BEST of Luck! I wound up getting another one and they took the first one as a discount towards second.

YES! Do the rice. It should help! Just let it dry out and hope for the best!

I heard this too. My DD kicked my cell phone into the pool last summer. I wish I knew this trick then!

My Dear dear hubby...consoling me over my devastation by phone from work assured me he'd try to fix it. DH is a genius. He really can fix anything. So he comes home from work a short while ago while I was teaching a riding lesson. I finish up and go into the house for my consolation hugs and what do I find?

DH has OPENED the ipod housing and is blow drying the inards.

Oh...and he cracked the screen while prying it open.

God give me strength.

I'm sorry.

I think it will be R.I.P. for your Ipod. Maybe console yourself with one of the new ones that are coming out! I want a purple one.

:scared1: I know how you feel!!! Earlier this year, I was cleaning the junk out of my car and threw my ipod into the trash can with the garbage by mistake! It might not have been bad except it had rained the day before and the can was full of water!! I placed it on my baseboard and it dried a little, but when I turned it on, it gave me the Sad iPod face

I cried when I saw it, so much that DH felt bad for me and bought me a new one. I do wish I had known about the rice thing.

:lmao:

Oh, I'm so sorry!

DH is in IT and knows a lot about electronic devices. Basically, if anything electronic gets wet, let it dry out (this might take days) before turning it on again. If you do that (and I didn't know about the rice trick, that sounds like a great idea!), it probably will work just fine. :thumbsup2

Embarassingly I dropped my I Touch in the toilet about 2 months ago. I thought it was toasted so I ignored it for about 2 weeks and when I picked it up again it didn't work so I appealed to my DH for a new one and he plugged it into the charger and it started right up and I haven't had a problem with it since. I am happily amazed. Sorry your DH cracked yours open, it may be too late. :(

Ugh, I'm so sorry! I cried when I killed my first iPod, a pink mini that I loved nearly more than life itself. Well, I didn't kill it, exactly, but I did severely and permanently disfigure it by dropping it onto the corner of a table, which cracked the LCD screen. There are few sights sadder than seeing the black goo slooooooooowly leak out of that crack over the next few days.

For future reference, the rice trick really is supposed to be something akin to a miracle worker. Not a day goes by on the Crackberry forums that it's not recommended to someone who's dropped his BB in a toilet, the pool, etc.

And hey, at least the new nanos are available in so many cute colors!!

When that happened to my old Blackberry, I put it in the over to start drying it, and then moved it to some rice.

2 days later, it powered up like a charm.

I usually let what ever electronic device of mine, that has drowned in water, give itself a tan in the sun or dry off in the house. After a while, it works like a charm.

OP, if it had to happen, this is a great time - you can either get one of the brand new ones - they've gone back to the tall skinny style instead of the short fat one... or you can get a great deal on the last generation one! Wal Mart has them on clearance right now.

Alaska - what is the itouch? My boys have the ipod touch - the first generation is now around $200 at WalMart! Down from $300.

Mine went from the washing machine to the dryer to the docking pod and has been working ever since.

Our ipod was the 30GB one. I believe I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 3500 songs (that I will have to find and upload all over again...).

Originally the ipod was a gift from my sister, 2 years ago, for my birthday (and it's engraved). She told me that she bought the insurance plan for it when she bought it so I may be able to get a new one. I suppose I'll have to keep mum about DH opening it though.

If the damage isn't covered under the warranty and you end up having to get a new one check out the Apple store online. They have models on clearance as well as refurbs. I have a 30G refurb and it has been great.
