NOOOO!! Corn Dog Castle down for Refurb!!!

Well it looks like we'll have to try these on this trip! I'm thinking of doing the main street one, maybe for parade time?

Here's another - they are HUGE!

I am so sorry, there is nothing worse than having your heart and taste buds set on one thing (especially a DL-type thing, because every sensory experience there is magnified to ecstasy proportions) and have it not happen.
My suggestion would be to take this opportunity to seek out something absolutely new to you on this trip - a food you wouldn't normally be able to try because you usually have a corn dog in each hand. :rotfl: Who knows? Maybe you'll come across a new favorite! I am almost ashamed to admit this, but I have never had a Dole Whip. After hearing everyone RAVE on this board, it is for sure on my list of things to try. Maybe there is something wonderful but obscure just waiting for you.....it could be love at first bite!

Thank you.!

I know! I'm going to find a new food I have never tried! I haven't tried the chimichungas in Frontier Land yet.. Maybe that's something new to try? Also the DLR popcorn I haven't tried. I know I know.. :ssst: But after hearing how wonderful the popcorn is and especially those adorable Pooh buckets, I have to get some!!

Oh I am loving the fact that I am not the only one who cannot wait for the corn dog castle. My DH laughs at me & my love affair with the corn dog. I am really bummed that it will be closed while we are there. (Our last day is the 21st of May:sad1:  ) I will have to try the ones in DL. Thanks so much for letting us know that there are corn dogs in DL. Good to know that my craving can be satisfied. :woohoo:

The corn dog truck on Main St is a must stop for us each trip so we have never made it over to CDC.

Same here. We always get corn dogs on Main Street (they're sooooo yummy) and have never tried the Corn Dog Castle. We're gonna have to give it a shot next time we're there.:thumbsup2

Yay! I'm happy this thread made everyone aware of the corn dog goodness at DL and DCA!!! :cutie: :woohoo:

Maybe this will give you an idea. This is a regular corn dog, not the hot link one. Sorry for the bite but I couldn't wait to lay into it before snapping a picture. :hippie:

Thanks for posting the pic - at least I kinda know what to expect now! :thumbsup2

BTW - please don't apologize for eating your food that you bought for you to eat. popcorn:: Because you took a bite of that corn dog before taking the pic, it has helped to educate me more fully on the DL dining experience!

:hippie:

That explains it then. I knew that first bite had more meaning behind it! :cool2:

When we went to DCA last April, my mom wouldn't let us eat there because it wasn't "real" food.

Well mom, IT'S NOT PLASTIC!

I'm definitely getting one this week! I'll be there Thursday & Friday with 40 DIS Ladies!!

The corn dog truck on Main St is a must stop for us each trip so we have never made it over to CDC. Maybe we'll have to try it out this time because I didn't know they had different kinds. DH may like it because he loves spicy although he is an "orginal" kind of guy :)

First post since returning last night (at midnight). Had 3 corny dogs on this trip (2 at the castle & one at the truck at the end of Main St. off the hub). The Castle is across the walkway from Jumpin Jellyfish (DS Alec jumped with the fish while i got our corny dog).

- Currently at the Castle....the chili cheese "infused" corny dog. Not as big as the original, but darn good. (This is a special item celebrating the F&W festival)
- Also had the original at the Castle (the best of the bunch that i tried & was HUGE).
- Also had an original (the only one available) at the truck off Main. Good but not as good as the Castle's imo.

Wanted to get the hot link version, but DS & I were sharing corny dogs & churros on this trip, so i played it safe. (next time though:cool1: ).

& fwiw..... to those who are cringing with my "corny dogs" nickname.....they were invented at the state fair in Dallas (where UT beats up on OU every year) & were (are) called "corny dogs". ;)

& are dang fine dining. :thumbsup2

UHOH! Those 2 sentences right there caught my attention! Sounds like you and DBF would make great friends! He's a huge Corn Dog Castle and a HUGE HUGE HUGE Texas fan!! :thumbsup2

As much as I love the "corn dog" at the Castle in DCA, there is nothing better than a Fletcher's Corny Dog at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas!

So Corn Dog Castle isn't closed this week is it?

It wasn't closed yesterday......might want to check the DLR website for closures & refurbs.

fwiw - Mr. Toad was closed on Monday (but was quite the wild driver on Sunday ;)).

Danny,...... Fletcher's is the inventor of the corny dog...isn't that correct??

& are they the carny food tent that has "fried" everything?? (cheese, pickles, snickers bars etc.)

Great pic, btw. :thumbsup2

I personally like the term "corny dog". In fact, I think more things should end with a "y". Like, hot doggy's, dole whippy's, turkey legy's. Uh oh, I think I might have a tape wormy.

As far as I know, they are the corny dog inventor. At least, that's the word around here. ;)

Actually the fried pickles, fried coke, fried smores, etc. can be found at various tents throughout the fair. Fletcher's tent only has Fletcher's corny dawgs. Why do I know all of this?? :scared:

They caught my attention too, but for a completely different reason (see my screen name ;) ) and I seem to remember UT getting their butt whipped a few times by OU in the not so distant past :rolleyes1

I will agree on one thing though, the Texas State Fair does have the BEST corney dogs!!
