Howdy. I'm new here, and to the notion of WDW as a potential destination as well.

Disney history: I cut my teeth on the Mickey Mouse Club. The one in black and white, with Karen and Cubby, Darlene, and Annette. Yeah, that long ago. I was a hard-core devotee of the TV shows -- all of 'em -- and I've seen most of the Disney movies in the theater. (Not quite all!) Other than that, though, the closest I've been is the local Disney store.

I talked myself out of DL years ago (my parents called it silly and wasteful), but now I'm trying to wrap my cheapskate brain around actually making a trip (or more than one?) to WDW. If I can manage that, then maybe I can come out and actually see what all the hoopla is about. After all, you're only young once.

Oops... I already missed that, but I'd like to give it a shot anyhow. Again, Howdy, all!

You must try WDW. It has changed us forever. ;) I can't imagine what life would be like if we never went. It really is magical. pixiedust:

GAH! Do it! It's a ton of fun.

We went to WDW last August and it was my boyfriend's first trip. It's so special to go into it without preconceived notions and be delighted every step of the way. He's a huge cynic, so he didn't love WDW as much as I do, but we still had a great time.

My advice would be to try to plan ahead, and decide in advance if you want to try and see and do as much as possible and be exhausted (but giddy with happiness) when you leave, or if you want to do it in more manageable bits and pieces with some "don't miss" attractions and meals along the way, leaving plenty of time for R&R.

I kind of think of this as the "gotta be there at the gate when the ropes drop" camp (my mom is like this) and the "you've got to be kidding me, I'm not waking up before 9:00 on my vacation" camp (my boyfriend is like this). Each camp thinks the other is crazy. This is not true. The beauty of WDW is that you'll have an amazing time no matter what, especially if you go into it with realistic expectations (i.e. you have to accept that you will either be exhausted or you will have to accept that you might not do everything you marked off in your guide book!)

I've got to agree with this post.....44 trips so far and yes, it has changed us forever....no other destination thrills us like WDW and we're in our 60's.....
