Nonchangeable Legoland hotel bookings and omicron

The nonchangeable, nonrefundable promotional rates, such as rooms booked during the Black Friday sale are still not changeable during the omicron surge. I was hoping there would have been an update to the policy, but now I know not to book nonchangeable travel because you never know what might come up. I felt comfortable traveling a couple weeks ago, but with hearing how transmissible omicron is, now I'm not so sure, since not all my kids can get vaccinated.

Things can always come up. Not just omicron. Other illness, broken leg, someone in the family dies, severe weather event, someone loses their job, house fire, car accident. Life happens. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. We don't book nonrefundable rates for anything.

The T & C are clear at time of booking. You're getting a cheaper rate BECAUSE you're taking on the risk of not being able to get your money back or make any changes. It was one thing back in 2020 when people booked these rates before COVID hit. But at this point, the risks of booking a nonrefundable rate during a pandemic are obvious. My advice: If you choose to book a nonrefundable rate, purchase travel insurance immediately. I mean, I always buy travel insurance anyway, but it's particularly crucial if you're taking the risk with a nonrefundable fare. If the nonrefundable rate is good enough, you may still save some money even after the cost of the insurance.

I guess I just wasn't used to sale prices = no changes. I use discounted rates all the time at Disney. I wish I wouldn't have posted this thread but I was frustrated and also thought it might help someone else who wasn't familiar with Legoland bookings versus other central Florida locations. Sorry to ask a dumb question, but where does one buy travel insurance? From regular insurance agencies, AAA, or specialty companies?

Are sale priced Legoland rates always nonrefundable?

Is there a way to just delete this whole thread?

MouseSavers has a couple of insurance recommendations:

It looks like Legoland also offers a trip protection plan, though I'm not sure whether you can buy it when booking on a promotional rate.

If you want the thread deleted, I think the moderators might do that for you. Click on "Report" in the lower left-hand corner of your first post in the thread and ask them if they will do that.

Any chance you paid for it using a credit card that includes travel and trip cancellation insurance? If so, check their policy. Although if nothing was closed or a travel advisory wasn't issued, then they might not cover it.
