Non Ticket holder at MNSSHP

i've e-mailed both of the listed addresses about this-will post when/if i receive a response. i'm SO TOTALLY ticked off about this! i spent money i honestly couldn't afford to part with on tickets for this stupid party b/c it just happens to be on my daughter's birthday and now we'll have to jockey for position for parade, characters and fireworks with hundreds of ppl who get to be there for free!

That's bull! Granted, they can't get on any rides without a bracelet, can't trick-or-treat without the bag, and can't get the free picture. But they can still watch the parade and fireworks, taking up room. I don't have MNSSHP tickets (my son goes to bed too early to enjoy it yet), but if I did, I'd be mad. It won't affect lines for the rides, but the crowds during the parade/fireworks might be more.

This is really dissapointing. I spent a lot of money on our MNSSHP tickets and I want a refund if anyone can come in. I bought my tickets specifically because the parks are supposed to be less crowded during these events.

Has anyone tried for a refund yet?

it's probably been happening for awhile now. That's probably why when we went 2 yrs ago, it was so crowded for a party that wasn't sold out. We there last year with some friends when they were having the Christmas party, and long story short, we didn't leave the P.O.T.C. area for awhile and noone ever asked us if we were ticket holders or not. It was probably almost 7 by the time we made it from there to the front entrance and the whole time noone ever asked if we had a ticket. I almost wanted to stay just to see if we could but didn't because it wouldn't have been right. I'm sure cheap and sneaky people have been doing it for years, it's not realistic to move all those people to one section of the park and have them enter in a different area. The numbers are just too high for it to be practical and it would take forever. However, I will still be buying tickets for October because my sone still talks about how much fun he had at the hallowe'en party at WDW, and I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself if I knew I was being a cheat!

I agree that it's probably been happening for some time now. Just last year, I was thinking to myself, "This is a limited event?!?' .... It was packed!!

Hopefully guest services will respond to these emails and indicate what is done (if anything) in an effort to make this a true 'hard ticket event' for those who legitimately purchase tickets.

I emailed too and if it is true then I want a refund. I will then be able to enjoy the atmosphere for free. My cousin went to MVMCP last year and saw people without bands getting on rides. She pointed this out to the CM who shrugged and said It's Disney! We went to MVMCP and the only time we were asked to see the band was at 6pm on the Magic Carpet Ride.At least with the 6pm closing time thet are making an effort to clear the park, kwim..

This is nothing new. We did MVMCP in 2001 and I remember being very upset that there were soooo many people WITHOUT wristbands. I kept commenting about it to my husband, and getting more and more ticked as the night went on. We entered the park about 6:15 PM with our "special ticket" and never saw them clearing people out. The place was packed!!! Needless to say, we have yet to do another MVMCP or MNSSHP. :confused3

I just called the Disney Switchboard (407-824-4321) and asked for a supervisor. I spoke with Ginger. She works "on behalf" of the supervisors (whatever that means).

Anyway, this is what she said, "What you said is a rumor. You must have a wristband to stay in the park. Anyone without one will be asked to leave by security and/or a CM."

I then asked, "Well what if they just want to stay to watch the parade and/or the fireworks"? She responded, "Absolutely not. They must have a wristband." She did add that it is virtually impossible to make sure everyone has a wristband, but that security and the CM's watch for them.

We will see . . . :rolleyes1

Oh, she also said that the park is scheduled to close at 6:00pm to decorate, not 7:00pm as some have heard. Again, we will see. ;)

Just an fyi...in the past they stopped handing out wristbands after 7:00p for those entering; I guess they felt by then they weren't necessary so some of those people you saw still could have been party guests.

I think they need to re-work their system!!!

Well dagnabit! I'm disappointed. :guilty:

I have not bought our tickets to MNSSHP yet, though. I was told that since we are going early in October, it won't be necessary to buy them way in advance. (I'd rather have my money working for me in my bank account. ;) )

I'll be waiting to hear about the mid-September parties before I go buying our tickets now. I hope this is all unfounded rumor and that they will make SOME respectable effort to assure that "ticket only" event means just that... Sheesh, if they don't care if people stick around past 6pm as long as they're not riding rides then that's what we'll do. I've got several leftover days from an old park hopper that I could easily use instead of paying for extra tix.

But i'd rather pay for the tickets and feel like I am getting my money's worth.

That means she was not a supervisor but is trained to determine whether or not a supervisor is actually needed for the phone call. I.E. a regular CM who's been there for quite a while, if Disney's description is what it sounds like, and it sounds like every other call center out there where that is common practice.

Agree. When I was a supervisor of my ex company-If I was slammed, would have reps call or take calls from customers on "my behalf". In my case, those reps were authorized to act in any and all areas a supervisor would had.

Guess I will hold off on our MNSSHP purchase for a bit longer. We're going on 9/22 ... but we'll be at WDW and out of computer access as of very early a.m. 9/16 so I won't be able to get a report. Ack!

I am anxiously waiting to hear reports of the first party on Sept 15 from TGM and DISers. We are going on Sept 29. If the crowds are horrible from non-paying ticket holders, I pray the execs at WDW will change it back to the old way of closing at 6pm to clear the park. If they don't make any changes, we will then have to make our decision on whether to go or ask for a refund. Fingers crossed and praying for lots of PD that it all works out for EVERYONE.

I agreee with Tripelfigs
We are planning on the 29th also so I guess it will be a wait and see thing now.

We do not have plans for the Halloween Party having been to the Christmas one and found it very lacking in anything except long lines and crowds. :confused3

I most sincerely, hope for all you ticketholders' that it is not true that people without tickets will be allowed in. That just is not fair. :Pinkbounc

I am cheap but not sneaky and it would not occur to me to go where I had not paid to go. Some people might not realize about buying the bracelet though.

The last 'special' event I paid for was the Christmas Processional where I bought a ticket to avoid standing in a long line as I have health problems and was most upset at the fact that I had spent all that money and then STILL had to stand in a long line.

We attended two MNSSHP last year and were checked for wristbands at almost every attraction. Weather was warm and we had on short sleeves, so wristbands were fairly obvious, but most CMs asked us to show them anyway. I figured that the ones who didn't ask could clearly see them and that's why they didn't ask. Most MNSSHP nights will be warm, short-sleeves weather, making it much easier to check for them. I don't know what they'll do with MVMCP though, since it will most likely be long-sleeves or even jacket weather.

We're not planning on MNSSHP until mid-October, and I haven't purchased our tickets yet. I may just wait to see reports from the first couple of parties before I plunk down so much money.

I don't recall this being a problem during the old E-ride nights @ MK (when you paid $15 or so extra for tix to stay in the parks several hours later/time comparable to pm emh? Whether the # they sold was smaller or less people participated, whatever...it was far less crowded.

Last Dec. there were people w/o wristbands during MVMCP but, didn't notice CM's turning anyone away until later in the evening after we watched 1st show. Didn't see anyone being told they couldn't watch the parade, fireworks...several people were boasting that they got to see everything for "free".

Think we went Dec. 10th? was far more crowded than I thought it would be. Anyone know how many tix they sell for each night of these events?

We've got MNSSHP for Columbus week, hope it's far less busy.

Okay - this will really have me :furious: if it turns out to be true. I attended the MVMCP two years ago and didn't really pay much attention (it wasn't all that crowded) and had a great time. We have tickets for MNSSHP on 10/30 and I was already expecting it to be a little crowded since it's the night before Halloween but I'm not expecting to have crowds because Disney can't do their jobs and get the people out of the park. This event is marketed as a special ticket event requiring anyone ATTENDING the party/park to purchase this ticket. If someone is hanging from earlier in the day, then they are attending the event whether they go on rides or not!!!!

We plan on taking in some rides but we purchased the tickets for the entire experience! I definitely will not be a happy camper if anyone can stay for the parade and special fireworks!!
