Hi all
Looking for suggestions for days out away from the parks probably within an hour or so ideally ,anything considered really ,is celebration worth visiting as a tourist ? :-))

We went to the chocolate kingdom near old town kissimmee its a chocolate factory tour. It was very basic and small but still something fun to do and nice to support a small business. I believe there is also a chocolate tour on international drive but not sure.

There are plenty of lovely places to go such as Celebration where you can walk round the lakes and then dine or just enjoy an ice-cream.

Showcase of Citrus is nearby, the orange juice slushie is lovely.

There are plenty of State parks to visit, such as the Blue Spring State park where you can also take a boat tour to view wildlife or De Leon where you can make your own pancakes for breakfast.

The beaches are lovely, although a bit of a further drive, with Cocoa beach being nearest.

You could visit some gardens, such as Bok Tower garden.

You could take an air boat ride, or go to some other towns such as Mount Dora or Winter Park. I have just read Wayne's trip report and he went to a town called Traveres (think I spelt it right) yesterday and that looked worth a visit too.

Do you have any preferences that might influence your decision? Hopefully I have given you food for thought :goodvibes

We've no preference whatsoever so your suggestions are fantastic ,thanks very much

Another on here for Celebration, we loved it there. Lovely place to spend a couple of hours, nice break from all the madness of the parks!

Clearwater Beach gets my vote, lovely 'talc' feeling sand. Shopping Mall nearby too.:thumbsup2

Good thread! We are staying 3 weeks for the first time and it will be nice to go further afield, have booked 3 nights at treasure island to recoup :-)

I know this is slightly off they specifics of your question, but a whole day at the pool doing absolutely nothing is always well received by my kids :)

Vote for monster truck ride at Showcase of Citrus, defo not Disney but great time. Get coupon from groupon.

Love celebration and if you have young kids green meadows petting farm is fun.

Resort exploring is fun for us as we stay offsite. We couple with monorail rides and hiring the sun seeker out on Bay Lake.

Wow thanks for all the great suggestions there's so much to do outwith the theme parks could really do with a month :-))
