NON SWGE Crowds?

No one’s even in line for the other Star Wars stuff.

I’ll quit posting; I’m just flabbergasted. I expected lower crowds than people anticipated, but not ghost town conditions.

lol everyone was too scared...including me. Didn't want to risk it. Plus, I can't go this weekend at all anyway, so even if I did want to go, I can't.

Beyond ROTR not being open maybe many Star-Wars-but-not-really-Disney-Parks fans will opt to go to WDW despite the delay in opening? WDW only opens a few months later and many non-Disney-Parks people consider it a no brainer to go to WDW with its extensive offerings over cute little Disneyland.

I’ve never seen the DCA Starbucks empty. I’m shook.

Main Street at 11:30am, Fiddler & co at 11:45. So empty.

Eta: I don’t know why my pictures are sideways; they’re right when I preview, sorry!
Darn! Shoulda gone to DLR this weekend! All you who are there I salute your travel planning wisdom!!

I been seeing videos of friends who are there and it seems rather quiet. I wonder if now everyone will go since knowing its slow or if everyone planned on going after the first day to avoid crowds and will now make crowds. Don't you just love how you really can not plan and we have to expect the unexpected and then the unexpected we expected is totally something we never expected:cool1:.

I dunno. We decided last minute to go in July- 4th if July week to be exact. I thought for sure I would struggle to find a room, let alone one for a decent price. I had no trouble finding a room right across the street for $100 a night. Then I thought for sure I wouldn’t be able to get dinning. I got every reservation I wanted including WOC dessert party, fantasmic dinner, lamplight.. and there is still a ton of availability. Having gone during Christmas break this is not how it was 30 days out when capacity crowds were expected. I just really wonder if all the crazy hype and the spring ticket deal and the reservation period and the blocked out passes are going to keep the capacity crowds away. I do except it to be very busy and for galaxeys edge to be very busy but I just dunno! Even on the dis July thread there is only a handful of people going.

Locals locals locals. I don’t know if hotels will reflect crowds. As others have said in other threads, with WDW SWGE opening late Summer that may impact a mad rush West to see SWGE. With that said I would expect the Park to be crowded.

I got an e-mail discount offer from one of the motels for early June.

According to some friends it's still pretty light today. Not as light as yesterday, but still pretty light. They said it's kind of creepy that it's like this lol

I’m at Disneyland today. I posted this in another thread when I arrived at 1230pm PST:

“Your prediction is very accurate. I’m at Disneyland (DCA to be specific) and it is NOT busy. Parking was really easy to get. Lines are short. 30 minute wait for Toy Story Mania(normally that's a 60-90 minute wait). The other key is that Deluxe level and lower passholders are blocked out of Disneyland (but not DCA).

I was worried that DCA might be uncharacteristically busy because Deluxes can not get in the entire summer. That hasn’t been true, at least for today.

I predict it WILL be a madhouse once the reservation system ends, and people flood the park to try getting into Star Wars land.”

I posted this in that same other thread at about 5pm PST:

“ I agree. 20 minute wait for Indiana Jones at 5pm PST. Literally no outside line for Pirates of the Caribbean. I was able to get an 8-9pm fast pass for Radiator Springs at 2pm. Normally, radiator springs fast passes are completely gone by noon. And the obvious fact that it’s a Saturday. For Disneyland standards, it’s dead. This is as good as one could hope crowd-wise.

I will try to take advantage of the next few weeks before the Star Wars reservation system ends.”

It’s a confluence of events. As a general rule, the less busier days are the days that Deluxe level and lower APs are blocked. That began today. But what I think is also contributing to the almost ghost town conditions is that the signature and signature plus APs have been scared off by the expectation that it would be a madhouse. I’ll admit, I thought it would be crazy and I thought Deluxe passholders would still come to go to DCA. So far I’ve been wrong.

Also, with the reservation system for SWGE there’s really no point for locals to buy single day tickets or higher level APs to come at this point. So the additional “pull” of SWGE isn’t really in effect yet.

I am very interested in knowing what the NON SWGE Disney crowd is like these first few weeks of opening. We’re going with a large family group in July and only about a third of us have any interest in SWGE, whatsoever. Because of that, I’d love to know what the impact is, crowd-wise on the rest of Disneyland and California Adventure.

(I’m not sure if this belongs in another thread. I looked around and didn’t immediate see anything that it would fit into easily, but Mods, please move if necessary.)

It’s been dead all weekend. BUT July may be a different story since reservations will no longer be needed.

It was such a great weekend at the park. We looked at wait times around 3:00pm Saturday afternoon and only 1 attraction (Matterhorn) was over 30 minutes and you could get instant Fast Passes for many. We walked onto Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Splash Mt. in the afternoon.

Keeping an eye on this as well. We will likely being doing an open to close in late July (eyeing a Thursday) and we have no interest in Star Wars. If it's accessible to us, we might check it out but I am def more concerned about being able to function in other areas of the parks. Luckily, it will have only been a year since our last visit, so we won't NEED to do a lot but hoping it will still be enjoyable and MaxPass for other high profile rides will still be available.

I am not surprised that it's uncharacteristically slow considering the hype and that Disney is controlling SWGE with reservations early on. I don't see that continuing past June 24th when it's wide open and people can flock into the park and rely on first come first served entry. If one has no interest in Star Wars then now is a great time to visit - hopefully those who were in a panic as their travel plans included this month of reservation time will now be pleasantly surprised.

This is exactly me! I will be going for one day in early July and SWGE is not my focus. I just hope crowds in the rest of DL are manageable enough that I can enjoy my day. If I can get a peek at SWGE, great.

It seems like crowds have picked back up some. Thought it is weird, like the wait time for Astro Obitor is the same as Peter Pan. Strange times.
