Does anyone know if there are particular sections or buildings in All Star Music that are non-smoking? I want to be as far away from smoke as possible - I'm extremely allergic & asthmatic. I've searched here but haven't seen anything posted. Thanks!!!

I don't know about rooms, but there will be smoking in the parks. Some people don't care about the rules and some don't know them. I once saw a CM trying to explain to a Japanese couple that they should smoke only in smoking areas. They didn't understand because they didn't speak English. It was kind of funny because she repeated herself, only louder! Like the old joke!

Also, sometimes people smoke in non-smoking rooms.

Whatever precautions you take in regular life (epi-pens, nebulizers, etc.) you should also take at WDW.

We just got back on 10/8 from a stay at ASMu and the majority of the hotel is non-smoking rooms. I got out our map but it doesn't list them. I believe there was 1 building that all the rooms are smoking and I think it was in the Rock section. I did notice some people though standing outside their rooms smoking. Not a huge amount of people but we did see that. I know I saw somewhere which buildings were smoking. It may have been on allearsnet so you may want to check there.

We have seen people standing outside their rooms or by the pool smoking before. But we usually see them from a distance and we have never had anyone by us smoking at the resorts. It does happen but it looks like it is random and hard to predict.

Thanks everyone...I was just hoping there was a specific area to avoid. I actually looked on AllEars & didn't find anything. You expect some smoking outside, but I've already been in hotels (non-Disney) where actual floors were divided between smoking & non-smoking, so people would smoke in the halls. It was impossible to escape - it seeped under the door. UGH!!! I never had problems in the parks. The only time I saw someone smoke in a non-smoking area was in MK and the crowd starting yelling at the guy. He would have had serious problems if he had not put out his cigarette! No CM was even necessary! But I know next to nothing about the Values & it looks like we will need to change our POR ressie to All Star Music because my sister, who was traveling with us, is no longer able to come (new job). My DS is excited - he's hoping for the Jazz Inn since he plays trombone in his school jazz band & is a HUGE jazz fan. Do they play jazz music, by any chance? Or is that wishful thinking? DS wants a photo next to the big tromone. I'm not happy to give up POR, but I've been reading good things about ASMU so I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm not fussy, as long as it's clean, everything functions properly & I'm not surrounded by cigarette smoke! Though quiet is nice too. But we spend so much time in the parks that we wouldn't be sleeping early or anything. Anyone with positive things to share - I'd love to hear them! Thanks again!

You need to call CRO and have a medical reason attached to your reservation to ensure you are no where near a smoking room. It's easily done and it helps a lot. We hadn't had a problem with getting non smoking until one time a few trips ago. Now I make sure it's noted in the reservation. State that you are allergic to smoke and they will place you appropriately. At the same time, ask about the availability of the Jazz Inn and tell them why. They will note the request and you might get what you want.

Looking at the Passporter, there are smoking rooms available, in Calypso #1, Jazz #9 and Rock Inn #3.
I stayed in Jazz #2 and it was non smoking.

Sounds like Jazz#2 would be the one for us. Did you like the resort? I've never even visited it. But my DS is so thrilled. So it may be all for the best. If he's happy, I'm happy. I did find on AllEars that they do play background music appropriate to the area, so that will be a great touch. Someone else posted pictures which showed the curtains patterned like sheet music. DS intends to try to figure out what music it would play. He's really getting into this!

Thanks again everyone!!!

I did enjoy my stay, it was a last minute decision to go this past summer so I booked the Allstar Music.
I liked the Jazz building location, it was really not far from the main building and close to the pool.
The room size was fine, since there was just me on this trip, the food court selection was great. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the bus stop at the resort had no covering, you had to stand out on the concrete in 90+ degree temps and it was miserable. Although all in all the buses came rather regularly.
For this reason if I make another last minute trip I will try to fit a moderate into my budget....or go during a cooler season

Your son will be thrilled with All Star Music if he's into a jazz band. There's so many icons there. Take a camera and get his picture with all the different ones. Also, you can easily walk to the other two All Stars and enjoy their buildings as well (Music is in the middle between Sports and Movies). Take a morning or an evening and just walk around the grounds. You won't regret it.

Thank you for the tip. When I originally booked at POR, my son still wanted to visit ASMU so I could get a picture of him next to the big trombone. So he has no regrets about missing POR. Plus we plan to visit there one evening to do Bob Jackson's show, so we'll still be able to see it. We'll definitely take a walk to the other All-Stars, we enjoy walking around & seeing the sights. Thanks again!
