Non-Park Restaurant With Good Pasta Options?

My bil will be running the Disney Marathon in January, and naturally he wants to load up on carbs the night before. Are there any good restaurants with pasta options? They would have to be at a hotel/DD because they won't be going to the parks that day. I believe there is a pasta dinner for the runners but I think they want an actual restaurant.

My all-time favorite dish at Rainforest Cafe is the Rasta Pasta, so that jumps to mind first of all. I must say, I'm not the biggest fan of Portobello. Admittedly I've only been there once, but the service was so bad and the food so unremarkable that I've never had the desire to go back. But... that could very well have just been a bad evening for them.

For other suggestions: there's Spoodles, Il Mulino over at the Swan or House of Blues as well. They've all got at least one really good pasta dish, plus a lot of other choices for those in your party who aren't carbo loading. :)

Try the Portobello Yacht Club at DTD!

I'll second this recommendation. But be aware that PYC is scheduled to undergo a make-over before January so it may be an entirely different experience at that time.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but on of the Port Orleans resorts has a make-your-own pasta bar in the food court.

If you have a vehicle, or want to take a taxi, (or run :lmao: ) not far from DTD/Plaza Blvd is an Olive Garden. Just a little further down is a Macaroni Grill.
DH has run the marathon for quite awhile, and belongs to the Disney Deads. (Dead Runners Society)
We have not done this for a few years, but the Dead Runners use to have a meet and greet at Macaroni Grill. Someone set up the res ahead of time and had scheduled choices of a few meals at a set price. And of course it was fairly early since everyone wanted to go to to bed early.
Often people were able to find a ride to the location.

You could also try Giordano's, just five minutes from DTD.

I had a great shrimp/pasta dish there in November. We thought it was the best restaurant we ate at this trip!

Luckily, my parents are quite good friends with the staff at PYC that have worked there since it opened. Yes, they are going to have a makeover and have more outside seating with a bar outside, but the food will basically be the same. They are also going to shorten the name to just Portobello. Cheers and have a great run!

We went to Spoodles a few weeks ago and it was out of this world! The rigatoni with ground sausage was awesome but the shrimp linguini with preserved lemons was to die for!

Portobello Yacht Club ! Yes they do take ress. I have them for Aug 23.

I second Spoodles, but will add, most of the food courts have pasta bars where you can pick a pasta and a sauce: POR and Pop come to mind. I think POFQ had the same thing.

Also, it's a little drive (about 15 minutes from WDW), but La Forchetta in Kissimmee is great. It is on John Young Parkway just a little ways past the intersection of 192. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but step in the door, and you can smell the deliciousness! It's a family owned place, and the service was great! It was a great break from all the glitz/chains/WDW theming.

Actually, I was going to mention this as well. I had several great lunches last month at the Riverside make-your-own. Sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers... wow. Just so good. :thumbsup2
