Non-host resort

We currently have a DVC reservation at AKL for the Wine and Dine Half. We are participating in the 5k and the half.

Is it a major pain to get to the 5k at 6am and to get back from the half at 2am when staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge?

We can probably switch to a host resort at 7 months out but it will probably have to be Saratoga Springs which we aren't crazy about.

If you have a car, no its not a pain. Though you may need to take the long way back to AKL if you are a 2 hour runner. The long way is going south to 192 then west to Sherberth and then north up to Osceola and then into the resort.

If you do not have a car, then the whole weekend can be a pain, especially at the AKL since there is nothing close to it. You would have to rely on a cab for the expo and the 5k and the return from the half. The expo alternative would be to bus to a park, grab a host resort bus to that resort then hop the race bus to the expo. The easiest link in the whole weekend would be the park bus trip from AKL to Epcot then the race bus to the half start.

Sorry a long winded answer to if you have a car, only the return could be a pain. Knowing the 192 route from Epcot to AKL would be critical due to course closures... and that is not all that hard of a detour.

Thanks for the reply. We will not have a car. Guess we will be switching to Saratoga Springs unless a miracle happens and we are able to get a studio villa at BWV, BCV or WLV.

you can always get a car for the day at one of the on site places (alamo, national, etc.)
