I hope he is not using this techique to get a good price on an engagement ring.;)

  One would hope not!

Hopefully he'll get the point that it isn't the thing to do. I know that at one time someone in the military offered my sis some tickets, and she just thought "cool!" cheaper tickets. Once I explained to her the problems with this, she was really embarassed. It is just that sometimes our first reaction isn't the best. :)

OMG that is so funny....let's hope not.

Worst case, when he gets to the park, he'll have to buy tickets then. I don't think they'll let him in with the Florida Resident ones, but I'm guessing they'll let him trade in the value of the FL resident tickets for regular tickets, and he'll probably just have to pay the difference. I've never done this though, soI don't know. Still, there must be some people who buy FL resident tickets, then move, but still have days left...so I'm betting there's a way to trade inthe value of them.

This comes DIRECTLY from the Disney ticketing engine.

Tickets are nonrefundable. All prices are in US dollars. Ticket orders are not accepted until confirmed with confirmation number.

Due to various restrictions and limitations, tickets cannot be shipped to all locations. Title to the tickets passes upon delivery of the tickets in Lake Buena Vista, Florida to the shipper. Recipient is responsible for any duty or custom charges or expenses. Persons who are requesting tickets to be shipped to friends or family members outside the USA should so note.

Tickets are nontransferable and must be used by the same person on any and all days. Disney is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. Parks, attractions or entertainment may change operating hours; close due to refurbishing, capacity, weather or special events; and may otherwise change or be discontinued without notice and without liability to the owners of the Walt Disney World® Resort. It is agreed between owners of the Walt Disney World® Resort and ticket users that all claims for injury or loss arising incident to presence on owners’ property shall be litigated in Florida. The owners of the Walt Disney World® Resort reserve the right to refuse admittance to any person or persons.

I have read and agrees to the Terms and Conditions.

You pretty much have to live there to get the discount. The ways around the system are so complex and impractical (and probably illegal) that it isn't even worth the little you save.

Sometimes I think we should just rent a small apartment near WDW. Save ourselves money on hotel rooms, get the Florida AP, etc.

He can always take his fiance and move to FL like a lot of NY'ers and pay less for passes and TAXES!

Would you believe Disney has effectively put a stop to that sort of thing, too? You used to be able to prove residency with a utility bill. Now you need a valid photo ID. No photo ID, no ticket. And that goes for every adult in your group.

Even with my FL res. pass active, every so often I'm asked for a DL, at the gate. My finger scan doesn't always work, and a CM who cares will ask for it. It happens about every 2 in 10 visits.

And the truth is ALL you need for a photo ID is an address and the patience to go get one. So renting the apt works...

I wanted to "prove" someone wrong one time on this so I went and read the laws on Florida IDs. Basically to get a state issued ID, go to the DL place and sign up.... that's it. You don't have to have residency, you don't have to really live there etc. You aren't getting a DL just a photo ID... If you can prove who you are you are good to go. I could have gotten one using my father's address. (However, I did NOT do that. The DVC Discount is just as good as the FL Resident pass for me!)

Disney sent me my FL resident passes in the mail. I will have to show my ID upon activating them. It looks like he could buy them (send them to his friends house maybe?) but he would be unable to use them. THAT is a waste of money.

he can come down and I'll meet him at the DMV. he can use my address...but I'll have to charge him. and then when my info is flagged in WDW's database as a duplicate, he's still out the money. :)

While what CarolA said was true for me, it was not true for my DB. The Driver License office DID ask for some sort of proof of residency. (he had a lease so he had no problems)

On the other hand, I was able to get DL's for the entire family without proof of residency and they are good for seven years (and they are FL only so that I did not have to surrender my MA license)

That being said, I would not take the chance. If you are asked for proof, you better have it.

Seeing that I own a house in FL, I had proof.

Disney DOES require FL ID's for everyone, The Disney Outlets require FL ID's for everyone. AAA South requires FL ID's for everyone. In short, to get a resident rate, you need a resident ID.

Now for $550 a month plus utilities he can rent my house (until November when I move there permanently) and get a legit FL ID and then he can get FL ticket pricing.

Whenever we have purchased or renewed our FL resident passes, they only send us vouchers in the mail. YOu have to go pick up the actual passes at guest services--specifically so they will be able to check your FL ID before issuing the pass. So there's not even a chance that he could "slip through". Thankfully!

Yep! Both my wife and I are florida residents but, the first day of our trip was raining and my wife didn't want to go to the park. So I went by myself and bought our tickets. I paid for 2 Florida resident passes, and had to show my ID to get mine. However, because my wife was not there, they gave me a "swap pass", so that I had something to prove it was paid for (it's a full looking ticket but, it's basically nothing more than a receipt), and she told me to have my wife bring it to the ticket counter when she came to the park, and she would have to show ID and they'd give her the useful ticket in swap for the one she had.

So, if you buy a special ticket, you better be warned, YOU WILL HAVE TO SHOW ID.

However, I would assume that it's nothing critical. If you guys show up, they wont let you use the ticket, and you'll simply have to go to the ticket counter and they'll have to pay the difference for the full price ticket.

PS: I personally wish they'd do security checks BEFORE the monorail stations. I know it's an inconvenience but, when I was riding it, I just began to think that, it would likely be a much safer situation. Then again, it's just my thought.

He and his girlfriend will be stuck outside
