I am looking to go on vacation in either Gatlinburg or Williamsburg, and would like to rent a condo.
I usually get great Orlando deals through Skyauction($250 a week), but I am not having the same luck with TN or VA.
Anyone have any tips on how to get a good deal? Any websites? I have looked at TUG and Redweek.
Thanks
you can pm me if this is too off topic

When we first stayed there about 10 years ago I phoned the tourist center (i got the # from AAA book) told them what type of accomodations we wanted, our trip dates & they put me on a list. We got a ton of information in the mail. It was fun sorting thru all of the brochures. Nowadays, they probably have a website to check out the accommodations.

I don't know when you are traveling. You could try TUG's II Condo Direct listings, if you don't need prime summertime. These will be a little more pricy than an owner rental or SkyAuction.com .

Have you considered doing a timeshare promo tour deal? There are many timeshares in both places. Make sure that you would be able to upgrade to stay right at the resort in a spacious unit, not in a small hotel room of marginal quality. TUG has Owner Promo Referral listings.

As a Fairfield owner, I could refer you to their Fairfield's resort tours - with the warning that they are not usually low pressure and don't buy anything while there! Right now, the deal for touring FF Smoky Mountains is $129/3 nights, includes a hotel room for 4 at Governor's Inn (a newer hotel), 2 show tickets, $35 dining cert and $25 shopping cert. The deal for touring FF Williamsburg is $139/3 nights at Country Inn & Suites, $30 dining cert and 2 admission tix to BG or CW or a round of golf. Both require a "90 min." 2+ hour sales pitch & tour. HTH!

We are looking to travel Easter week.
Tug had nothing for Gatlinburg, the ones for Willaimsburg were over $600. I got spoiled with Skyauction, so that seems high to me. I can always just go with a hotel room.

I would do a timeshare, but at the moment I am unemployed, so I am pretty sure I don't qualify. And if I get married by then, DH refuses to do them.

I looked at Redweek, and some of the prices seem ok, but you can only contact the owner if you are a member, and I don't want to join redweek and then have the price that was listed be wrong. Some of them looked pretty good, but since it is lower than TUG is listing, I am not sure if I should trust it?

I signed up for TUGS renter list and have gotten a few listings. I guess I will just have to wait until it gets closer and see if something comes up.

Thanks for the info.
