I want to take a moment to say Thank You to all the DVC Member Support Staff Members for all the work they all have done over the past year or so to help us DVC Members with our points. Thank You so very much for all the hours, hard work, and dealing with a lot of DVC Members and our frustrations.

For us Disboards members. My family has never purchased the Annual passes. Mainly because of the cost and the number of times we were, and hopefully in the future, able to visit WDW per year. We simply couldn’t make the use-to-price work for us. So, we had purchased the “Non-Expiring Ticket Option” and loved it because we could spread the cost more efficiently over our visits. They were so much more economical for my little family. We know lots of other DVC families that used them like this as well. We used them mainly because we would stay at WDW for a week once a year and go to the parks for maybe 3 days of that week, or 2 park days and visit a Water Park as well. Then we would “bookend” a DCL cruise. Staying at WDW 2 or 3 days before and after a cruise. Sometimes we wouldn’t even visit a park but relax and enjoy the resort amenities instead. So, you see, an annual pass just doesn’t work for us. DCL sure does though. 😉

So, Disboards friends...
I know WDW has stopped or paused the annual passes. Who here would be at all interested to have WDW bring back the Non-Expiring Ticket Option? For DVC Members only maybe.

Could any Disney Cast Members here on Disboards please pass this on to WDW management and tell them I’m Groveling over this?
I did email this to DVC in the email form on the DVC Member Website. 😉

Probably better for those interested to email Member Satisfaction with this request (rather than try to get something going here or via Cast Member feedback). If enough are received, DVCMC may approach DVD (the Developer for a blue card perk) to negotiate for this option. Since all DVC members would have to pay for this perk (I assume, of course, that WDW would not be willing to even consider it otherwise), it is unlikely for this to be available to those members who do not have access to Membership Extras (i.e., no blue card).

I still have some unused non-expiring 10-day tickets with the water park option. I bought them just as the option was discontinued thinking they'd be great for our annual Food & Wine weekend, but we've ended up buying annual passes ever since. I guess we'll use them eventually.

Ooh- I didn’t know about those! I would be VERY interested in something like that!! With a large family, and how we vacation, it usually only makes sense for a few people to hold AP’s. We do qualify as FL residents and I appreciate their discounted tix, but with a max of 4-day, they don’t always make sense... these would be the perfect solution!

I absolutely would buy those. Like 10 days... That would get me 2 trips or 3-4 long weekends

Yes, they were. For many of us. Why do you think they were discontinued? 😉

Many people (me included) would love to see the return on non-expiring tickets, but I'm sad to say... I think that's a pipe dream which is extremely unlikely to occur.

When they were last offered, they were not cost effective for two trips. You really needed to get 3+ trips to make them worthwhile.

I would absolutely buy and use them. We still have a few days left from our last non-expiring tickets and I am hanging on to them for the pre/post DCL trips. I really think bringing back the non-expiring tickets, especially for DVC members, would be encouragement for DVC members to make more trips to WDW and spend more money on dining, etc...

Why don't you start a poll?

I purchased 12 of these tickets before they were discontinued for my family of 4. We then had annual passes for the next 10+ years and didn’t use any of them.

Fast forward to this year and the pandemic. No annual passes and no park hopping and we had 3 trips lasting 26 days this past year. We used up a whole 10 day non expiring no park hopping ticket! Hated to use it up, but feel we certainly got our money’s worth out of that ticket!

We would be interested in purchasing more of those non expiring tickets!

Would you be interested in selling them to me? If you haven't used them yet they are still transferable.

Everyone would love the option to lock in closer to today's prices for future enjoyment, especially DVC members. But the reasons the option is desired is the same reason why the option is exceedingly unlikely to return. There are also targets for revenue per guest that non expired tickets redeemed years later throws off. The only way it might happen is if Disney needs some infusion of cash quickly but even then they have plenty of other means.

I'm still using my 10 Day expiration and have 3 remaining in my stockpile...per person in my family.

They don't play nicely with the park reservation system right now. I also feel like having bought DVC, our park habits have changed. When we use our no expiration we feel like we should spend the entire day in the park. They're rare commodities!

But on an annual pass...we can pop in for 2 hours in the morning and leave for the pool as the park gets busy. It's so much more relaxing, but we wouldn't feel that way if it wasn't baked into the AP.

That said..if there's no AP, then yea I'd definitely take the no expirations again.

Why? Where they more expensive than what a regular say 10 day ticket is? I’d assume it would be less than an ap.

We used to use these for our family trips. We would get about 5 trips out of a 10-day park hopper with the water parks option added. In fact, my DSs just finished up their days in 2019 on tickets we bought in 2008. Since we took a family trip to WDW every other year, it was perfect. I would maybe be interested in buying some for some future family trips, but right now my DH and I are more interested in APs. We have our first APs (bought right before the shutdown) just sitting in our MDE waiting to be used. As Yinn said, the NE option meant more commando park days, and that is something my DH and I aren't interested in anymore. But I would definitely be interested in buying them for family members.

IIRC, they eventually became more expensive than a gold AP. But they didn't have block out dates and could be stretched out beyond a year's time. Allears.net has a ticket price history page that should have the info.

Remember, too, that if anyone in your traveling party is active duty or retired military, they get an awesome deal on 5 day hoppers. You need to order them from you local base. The military member must be present to activate the tickets at WDW, and they are limited to 6 tickets per year.

Why do you think they were discontinued?
Originally all park tickets included park hopping and never expired. Then Magic Your Way came around and park hopping and no expiry became an add on option. Reasonably priced at first, but the no expiry option became very expensive. I believe they stopped offering the no expiry option because it is a liability on their books. Not all park guests pay the intense attention to these things that people on the boards do. I think there are many no expiry tickets out there in the bottom of a sock drawer or completely lost with 1 or 2 days left on them. I myself have tickets with water park days still on them, and I think one still has a park day which belonged to my then husband. I don't which ticket belongs to who in my household. So they sit in an envelope until I decide what to do with them. Disney parks need to keep this information somewhere, and honour those tickets when they do surface, if ever. Liability.

I have several non expiry plus multiple water park tickets and also am fortunate to have some annual park vouchers from a few years ago. If I recall correctly the 10 day non expiry was close to $800 for the one with park hopping that I bought.

They are useful for one daughter who only wants to go every couple of years for 1-2 park days.

I tend to use my annual passes same as you - a couple of hours here and there.

I'm also waiting for a large family trip to make use of the water parks or mini golf or go play real golf - not me, family that actually golf. A few years ago, guest services upgraded my old admission media to gate usable ticket options.

And, I will call to get my AP reinstated for my next trip - might as well take advantage of that option as the ones in the safe are platinum and I only need gold for Nov and Jan, Feb trips. Right now that also gives me the option of spacing my AP's and not having to renew if there is a sizable trip gap.

The older I get the less park time I spend.
