Non-eaters at Cape May?

Hi all.

Hoping someone with experience could answer a question for me. Planning a trip in October and it is time to book our restaurant reservations. My nephew with Down Syndrome is coming with us for this trip! :yay: I am considering Cape May Clam Bake for one of our meals as this is MY personal favorite restaurant. My nephew does not eat solid foods. At most he would maybe get some apple sauce off the buffet (if there is any) - but my brother will be bringing his food to eat to all restaurants. I realize that at AYCE locations for character meals that my nephew would be charged anyway for the entertainment value - and totally understand that (and will be paying for us all to go to Chef Mickey as dnephew LOVES Mickey). Not sure if my brother will be thrilled about paying for him at a place where he'll eat nothing AND will have no entertainment.

Any chance that they'll skip the charge for him?

If not - I'm thinking I'll have to come up with an a-la-carte place instead.

1) Buffets do not give special prices (small eaters, bariatric surgeries, medical issues, etc)
2) Neither do they let non-eaters go free, as they can't be watched to not eat.
3) But, I guess you can always ask.
4) Just be prepared to pay full price for the person.

I wouldn't count on not being charged honestly. I've only seen maybe 3 people say they weren't charged in years on these boards, and it was for very obvious 'can't eat anything' conditions.

I'd either skip it or just prepare your brother to pay since it's your favorite.

Just a thought- many restaurants will purée their food for you ( not outside food). Instead of having your brother bring food maybe look for places that have food your nephew may enjoy puréed. I don't know if puréed seafood would work (probably not) but maybe there are items in the menu that would.

We have never been charged at a buffet or character meal (have not done Hoop Dee Doo, but would expect to be charged there) for our daughter, now 18. She was 16 on our last trip, we did Cape May and Crystal Palace, but she is pretty severly disabled and clearly not eating anything.
