Is there a specific forum for non-DVC timeshare reviews and/or questions? Or are they lumped together with general Orlando accommodations?

CAN THERE BE a separate/new forum for a non-DVC timeshare community?

Check out the TUG boards. It's a whole different site. HUGE online discussion board with separate boards for the different timeshare companies (DVC, Marriott, Wyndham, etc.) There is a fee if you want to become a member and post buy/sell classifieds, but free to just take part in discussion.

www.tug2.net

it is like the Disboards - you get some members who will help you - others will tell you join first.

if you join you get to see the reviews - if you don't some member will come along and help you most of the time. now there are some resorts that not even tuggers are familiar with as far as staying there. those have no reviews - so go ask in the state it is in.

most of the timeshares are really cheap right now. but you need to know before you buy - maintenance fees (these can and will go up) - sometimes especially in other countries the maintenance can double or more - pay $500 for a South Africa timeshare and got a few good trades (generally to Orlando) until they wanted over $2000 in fees - so gave it back. before then the fees were around $250 some years less. got Orange Lake, Hilton Grand Vacation Club, Sheraton Vistana Resort (twice), Wyndham Bonnet Creek, Celebration world resort (Festiva), Grand Beach, Vacation Villa at Parkway

so was pretty happy - now with the new rules at RCI could probably only get Festiva

We already own timeshares. 4 separate DVC contracts and 2 different non-Disney timeshares. The non-Dis timeshares exchange through Interval International, though, not RCI. Yup, it's those maintenance fees that I hate!

I'm actually just looking for specific resort reviews for either exchanging or for getaways, I'm not looking to buy anymore!

We've stayed at quite a few in the Orlando/Kissimmee area (Calypso Cay, Star Island - can never remember which stay was at which part lol, Parkway International (one of my favorites along with Star Island), Celebrity (I think they're closed now, at any rate they're not part of the II exchange), Westlake Tower, Westlake Villas, Magic Tree Resort, Blue Tree Resort, and probably another few I can't remember.

I just wonder what other timeshare owners/users think of the different resorts.

I use tripadvisor for hotel reviews, but they ought to have a separate category for timeshares - IMHO ;).

By all means, join TUG. It's $15/yr (less for multi-year) and you will get very good reviews and ratings of timeshares everywhere by TUG members (other owners). All of the major Orlando TS are reviewed there, along with properties all over the country and abroad. TUG isn't about selling timeshares, it's about owners supporting owners to get the best value out of their investment.

Note that owners views are often a bit different from those who think of them as hotels; opinions can differ from those expressed on Tripadvisor.

Hope to see you over there!

Definitely join TUG, Timeshare Users Group. The $15.00 is well worth the money for access to the reviews. Discussion boards are free, though. There's also a bargain board for members - I've given away two of my timeshares on that board over the last two years.

Timeshare forums is another site that discusses all the various timeshare systems/resorts.

Celebrity has a new name - I think it's called Legacy Vacation Club now.
