Non-DVC Point Calculator?

Is there a point calculator or chart that I can see that has non-dvc resorts listed? We haven't bought in yet, but we are looking. I was wondering about the Contemporary Tower MK view From (for instance) Dec. 2-7, 2007. I'm just wondering here.

I don't know of any on-line places that put out the non-DVC resort point charts. They change every year.

For your specific question, a CR Tower, MK view for your 2007 December dates is 43 points/night Sun-Thu, or 77 points/night Fri or Sat.

That's Value Season. They go up from there. For example, beginning Dec 20th (Holiday Season), they're 61 and 110 pts/night respectively.

Generally you'll find that using DVC points for non-DVC resorts is not the best 'value' for point usage.

Yes, there is!!!! Look on the top of THIS page where it says DVC POINT CHARTS and click on it. Then look down and click on POINTS CALCULATOR. Then where it says RESORT TYPE click on that and you can choose ANY resort in Disney...just type in your dates and click on the resort or Disney hotel you want. With a little research you will discover, however, that you can do MUCH better paying with cash vs. points for ANY of the hotels/resorts outside the 7 DVC resorts ESPECIALLY if you get a special on the room. Disney sees to it that our points are most effective if used at our 7 resorts in the DVC rather than any other place (including the CRUISE, Adventure Plan, International, etc.). Always pay cash for those and look for a special. Disney offers these other options just as a way to help those folks who want to use their points and not LOSE them. 'Disney' is SO smart.

Off the subject my husband and I are trying to figure out the best configuration of tickets to buy for our upcoming trip and they have that all figured out too, they know EXACTLY what they are doing. SO smart! Well that is a different thread so I may post a thread looking for advise.

I remember looking there, but for some reason, I don't get any info when I enter that specific info on that calculator...
I know that it is not the most effective way to use DVC points, but we may choose to do it every now and then. We aren't always able to go for a good length of time, so, I was just wondering what it would take if we had some banked points and wanted to stay a little more upscale. We always travel in value season. It's just what works best for us. Even when our kids get older and can't miss school as much, that time is only 1/4 of the time we will have DVC. Ok, I'm just babbling. My DH and I love WDW and just really want to do contemp tower mk view at least a couple of times. I don't see us being able to go to WDW more than once a year and a week at a time. If we do WL for Sun-Thurs during adventure season, (studio) that's only 60 points; 82 something if we do fri night. If we have 150 points then that's 68 points to bank and that totals 218 for the next year. 5 nights at the dream trip (43 points according to Caskbill) then thats 215.
We may be able to do some smallish trips to HHI to use points that are about to die because that is just an hour away from us.
But anyway, thanks for the information. I'm ready for dvc vets to pick this apart, but I really want to do this at least once.

FWIW, I find it much easier to use the point charts than the calculator - comparing the costs of different dates can take forever using the calculator, LOL.
