Non DVC member wondering how many points needed for HH

My sister and her family would like to stay in a 2 BR at Disney's HH. She asked me if I could find out on 'that board you're always on' how they could stay there (i.e. how to rent points, how many they would need, approximately how much it will cost etc.).
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you're looking at HH for summer in a 2 BR, the cost is 330 points for a 2 BR and 165 for Sun-Fri for 5 nights. Fri is 66 pts and Sat is 99. The going rate for rentals has been $10 pp but I think it's about time and the situation to see an increase. I think you'll start seeing points offered at $11 or $12 pp soon unless they are hampered points (short term or similar). To get HH in summer, your friend should be renting from an owner at HH. She might look into renting directly from Disney, the price for HH summer may be cheaper than by points. She also might look at Marriott, the price may be less and to be honest, a couple of their resorts are just as nice or close and in a better location (on the beach, in Harbour Town). The calcultor has not yet been updated for 2002- so use 2001 for any later dates.

Also take a look at www.disneyvacationclub.com Sometimes they run specials to get people to come look at the resort. She'd need to listen to the pitch but it is very low pressure and maybe even fun!
