As we get ready to head to the airport today to head home, we are still wondering about a slightly weird deal yesterday. As me and my family were sitting outside the Tiki Room area and enjoying our Dole Whips, a member of the dream team walked up and started chatting with us.......asking where we were from, etc. She was alone but had her bag of goodies around her shoulder. Three others walked up a couple of minutes later and joined the conversation. Since nothing was being mentioned and I was busting at the seams on the inside, I asked her if they were giving out dreams today. She said yes and that you never know when or where it might happen to you. She then said that they didn't "have any dreams with them to give away at the moment" and that they were on their way to a meeting. They all wished us a great trip and went on their way. :confused3

For a minute I thought we were going to be dreamed and was scratching my head wondering if I didn't say the magic word or something! Not that there is anything wrong with her coming up to us and chatting like a lot of CM's do, but if they are obviously a dream team, just keep on walking so as not to get my blood pressure up thinking we are about to get dreamed! (just kidding of course) That's almost like telling someone they won the lottery but then tell them they were just joking.:)

We really aren't complaining about her just chatting with us but over the past 24 hours now, we are still talking about it and thinking it was kind of goofy. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this?

How odd! :confused3  I agree, you would think that she would "dream" you and your family. :confused3

The Dream Team is instructed when and where to give out 'dreams". On a visit last year, we actually traded pins with a Dream Team member, but never got dreamed. I believe they were just being friendly.

dont expect them to dream you if they dont wear the white vest. If you see them in white vest, then they are dreaming. :)

if they are in Blue, then they are just there to talk and be entertaining.

This happened to us on our first WDW trip this past summer. I went to go get Space FPs and when I met back with my family they were talking to a Dream Team member. I was thinking "Awesome! Maybe we won something!". Except it turns out they were just talking and then she left. :headache:

We have had several cm's come up to us and be chatty and see how we are doing. My understanding, as Albort pointed out, they are only the "dream team" when they have the white vests on that have the YOAMD logo otherwise they are just "regular" cm's.

Yes, this happened to us when we were there during Thanksgiving. A nice lady walked up to us outside the TOT and was just chatting with us. I DID notice the bag on her shoulder and knew she was a DT member, but I also knew that she wasn't wearing the vest and she was alone. Therefore I wasn't too freaked out about it. The second time it happened though, I was pretty peeved, since there were 2 of them, but it seemed like they were waiting around for the "right time" to give out their dreams. In our 5 day stay we never saw them with their vests on actually giving dreams out.

This happened to us at WDW in February and at Disneyland in November. It is a bit unnerving at first but after I get unfreaked out I just started piling on the questions!

Something similar happened to us a couple of weeks ago...

We were getting off of Pirates and walking out. I was paying attention to my 4 year old and then right behind us we hear the dream team. I mean right behind us, they started handing out dream lanyards to the family right behind us. I asked for one and they actually said NO. I couldn't believe it. They must have given out about 50 of them but wouldn't give us one... I was a little disappointed because I have read about other families seeing the dream team and walking up to them to be dreamed.

Well, finally back home after a long travel day through the airports and dealing with all the delays. Ok, so it seems we're not the only ones. I had forgotten about the white vests so thanks for refreshing my memory on that. They were only in blue and had the bag over the shoulder with the YOAMD logo on it and just being friendly CM's. :sad2: At one point as we were standing in line for the Matterhorn, I made the comment to my wife that while we weren't looking maybe they had secretly put some sort of homing device on us and were waiting for just the right time to lay a big dream on us! Oh well. That's alright. We made our own dreams amidst all the Christmas magic in Disneyland. Even with all the hectic crowds, there is no better place to be during this time of year. :cool2:

it's happened to me a lot at WDW. and they always initiate the conversation with me but i always walk away empty handed (in fact, i once ended up giving the dream squad something).

if you believe all that's said, they have a specific itinerary of who and what gets dream prizes based on times and places, not just who they randomly talk to. most of the magical experiences i've had in the parks have come from cast members who don't hold that responsibility in their job descriptions.

it is frustrating, i can't argue that. but on the other hand, they're still CMs and people too and expecting to talk to a dream squad and end up with a prize is somewhat like expecting to be arrested every time you talk to a cop.

I'm glad to see that this has happened to others as well. Just yesterday my DH, DS, and I were walking with my brother and his family when a dream team member came up and started talking to us. She asked if it was our first time at DL and we pointed at my brother's family and said it was their first time. Then she proceeded to say that she had something for them and tried to give them a first time visit button then noticed they already had them. So she rooted in her bag for something and came up with honorary citizen buttons. What was weird was that she asked if we'd ridden Space Mountain yet. Since we had just gotten off we said we had. Right after that another dream team member came up and started talking and also asked us if we'd ridden Space Mountain. Then she started talking to our DS and asked him a lot of questions. Then said have a great day and walked off. We walked off wondering if we had said the wrong thing since they both had asked about Space Mountain. We wondered about that all day. I guess we hadn't said the wrong or right thing at all it was just coincidence.

well, you must know that if they can give to anyone, they probably would. But then, you will see a horde of people running up to them asking for them, therefore, it must meet a condition. Only people that comes OUT/IN can be given the prizes.

My brother and his friend got dreamed in Oct when they went - it was the white linens meal treatment at Taste Pilot's Grill. :thumbsup2

We did and they gave us the lanyards. Once they ran out and they told us to go to City Hall, tell them where we were and they gave us the lanyards.
