that is, tours offered by third party providers....

I have read some good stuff online (no surprise there, I guess) and am not having much success narrowing the DIS search parameters...soooooooooooooooooooooo:

Any experiences with OTHER VIP providers? I'm not mentioning names because I don't want the DIS police to frown upon me.....

I have no idea how a non-Disney employee can conduct an equivalent VIP tour. What are your expectations? How would that person be able to get you into every FP line for example?

I've had friends rave about the non-Disney VIP services, however when I looked in to some of them in detail, it sounds like I can do what they do on my own with a good plan. These services typically book your FP's for you, help you grab extra FP's after your first 3, and guide you strategically though the parks to avoid crowds. All of this I've learned to do on my own. Many also advertise that they'll pickup drinks and snacks for you while you're in line, stay back with little ones while you ride big attractions, help convince reluctant children to ride certain things, amaze you with their knowledge of Disney trivia and history, etc. These things would certainly make my life simpler in the parks, but I can't justify the hourly cost for that convenience.

I didn't see how non-disney VIP could compare since Disney's has the all-day FP advantage thing...........but thought I was missing something.

I'm still not paying that much, but I was curious.....................................

No outside VIP tour can even come close to a Disney VIP tour because the Disney VIP tour will get you to the front of any line you want, anytime, for the entire duration of your tour (6 hours 7 hours, whatever the minimum is). Anybody else can only schedule 3 FP ahead of time and arrange your plan to maximize your day, then book extra FP that are available. Probably most posters on the DIS can do just as well as that outside "VIP Tour".

It must be significantly cheaper than the official VIP tour though. I can see for a Disney newbee who is overwhelmed with all the options that this could be valuable service. I tried to explain to someone the FP system and their eyes glazed over immediately.

Just to clarify... you don't get front of the line with Disney's Private VIP tours, you get FP+ access.

And outside tour guides were using loopholes previously to get "unlimited" FPs.

What I've seen, they aren't waiting in the FP line, I watch them all the time on BTMRR, and IASW, they enter thru the exit and load into the ride vehicle where the people in wheelchairs load from. No waiting in a FP line. Maybe some of the other rides are different, but I see them on both of these rides doing it every time I ride.

If you are famous enough to cause a distraction in the FP+ queue, you get to go in through the exit. Otherwise, it's always through the FP queue. We've done several WDW Private VIP tours and it's always via the FP queue (including BTMRR, IASW). In fact, if there is not a FP queue, you wait in the regular line (most of the time). You can find threads here that I and others have discussed these tours in more detail.

I agree with anomamatt. The only time we didn't enter through the FP+ line was for the second ride on Space Mountain. Our guide wanted us to experience the two tracks in quick succession, therefore ushered us through a back door after our first ride.

Ooh, that is cool. Your guide sounds awesome.
