DH is larger than average and I wondered if they had any larger seats particularly on the coasters. We have been on coasters at Universal in Florida before and they have certain rows with larger seats and we know to get in line for that row which saves any embarrassment.

At Universal Hollywood I know they have the Mummy ride which DH is fine with in Florida but I can't see any other coasters there but what about the big rides at Knotts Berry Farm or Six Flags (if we decide to venture that far)

I hate to see a post go unanswered but I just do not know the answer to your question. Other than to say there are at least an equal number of big Americans to big Englishmen and women - as I am sure you know from your WDW visits. So I hope it works out for you! :)

I am also pooh sized but losing steadily and in my vast (last 10 yrs) of exp at all of the So Cal theme parks I have not had an issue riding anything, I am on the short side at 5'5 so if he is tall there are a few rides that may be a squish for his legs but on girth alone not any problems I've encountered so far on a side note I have never ridden the swing ride at Calf. Advent. or the Maliboomer so cant give any insight on either of these but i have ridden everything else in DLR.... If you are worried you can always ask a cast memeber before getting on ride or if one is handy at end of line if there are certain rows or seats that are better..... Whatever you do have fun and report back on how it went for you!!!!
I reread your post(lol)and at knotts I have not done all of the newer thrill rides but my larger than average daughter has and not had any issues there either and I haven't been to six flags since I was like 10 and I am 40 now...:) Just too worried about the bad elements they have running around that park, we did do San Antonio Six Flags and rode it all there and I didnt have any issues and I was alot bigger then!!!!

We have been to Six Flags Great Adventure and will soon be going to Magic Mountain. Like at the Orlando Theme Parks we though all larger seats would be advertised on maps, ride enterances etc.., but they weren't.

Anyways, SFGA had some larger seats on some coasters but not all. Ride Attendants did try best to get DH to fit in, but they just wouldn't click -- I think only 2 of the coasters had the larger seats - but he did mange to fit into most of the coaster, apart from 3, i think.

Though Magic Mountain, is constantly getting new/renovated coasters, so I think they have better chances of having larger seats.

Thanks we have just been to Thorpe Park in the south of England and DH did have an issue with the coasters there - the ones with the bar that you pull down over your head are always a problem (except on one coaster where they had some larger seats - but most didn't)

It is Knotts Berry we were wondered about really and whether this park's coasters did have the larger seats like this - after Thorpe Park experience he's thinking it's a big no-no, you see - he would be really disappointed if there were a lot of big rides and he couldn't go on them - all of the family would then end up not riding.

It's been years since we went to Knotts berry farm, but the last time we went my mom (size 24/26 at the time) went on alot of rides that I remember. I know that some of the rollercoasters can be a bit squishy but I have seen some larger people in line for them and watched them come off afterwards with a smile, so i am assuming they got on just fine. I know that the water rides you will be fine on.

This is taken from the Knotts Berry farm website:

Guests of Exceptional Size

All passenger restraint systems, including lap bars, shoulder harnesses and seatbelts, must be positioned, fastened and tightened to allow guests to ride.

Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, males who exceed 6'2", and those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40" waistline or 52" chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions, so it is impossible to determine exact size and weight.

Maximum recommended weight limits are posted on most Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park and Soak City attractions. You may enter the ride via the exit to ensure the restraints function properly prior to waiting in line.

I am pooh sized myself and will only go so that my son can enjoy the Camp Snoopy and we can ride the water rides.

I went to Knotts in larger sizes only one I had a near trouble with was the xccelerator(think its called) but they got it buckled thankfully. I was probably around 230 or up to 240 maybe even, I don't recall but I wore about 20-22. Not sure what new stuff they have got since 2002 though.

I did have one really embarrassing wait on Kraken at Sea World in Florida needing to "wait" for the bigger seat. I had been on it before no problems pre-baby but the 10-25 lbs extra I was still carrying 2 years after dd's birth was just too much to fit on.

Not sure on much else. I had gone in the 18's-20's in women's sizes to Universal in Florida and never had any troubles on rides.

DH has no problems with waiting for the larger seat rows - I think it's because most people don't even notice it is a row with larger seats (unless you're specifically looking for it)

Is the Xcellerator the one like Dr Doom (US, Orlando) and Maliboomer (as in DLR)? He has had a problem with those type of rides before. We went to Blackpool in the UK a couple fo weeks ago and they actually had just the one bigger seat on this type of ride - but we had to ask the ride operator - once again there were no signs or anything so no-one knew it was there (including us - we just lined up and hoped for the best). We find the US theme parks a little bit more organised in this respect.
