Hoping for a little wisdom from the Camping Crew--

We moved into my neighborhood about 6 months ago. There is a fellow in the neighborhood that fancies himself to be kind of the king of the street. Hey, fine with me, I have a policy of never challanging someone's misplaced feelings of self appointed royalty :lmao:.

We tried to be friendly when we first moved in, but he treated us like we were fleas on his dog. We invited him over a few times, and he graced us with his presence, but, he reallly is a jerk (thinks he is a ladies man, lots of sophomoric humor, has to have the last word on everything, etc., etc.).

We already had friends in the neighborhood, and we made some new ones, and like to have get togethers--but the neighbor is always hanging over the fence being obnoxious.

He seems to need attention, positive or negitive, just all eyes on him kind of thing.

The HOA has been on him for his lack of rule following, and he is just leasing (but has been here for a long time), and I am hoping that maybe he will just move along.

But, until then, any thoughts on how to difuse a neighbor that feels it is his right to be included??

Put up a taller fence? lol

He sounds like a narcissist. My first thought would be to give him a job to do. Can he be assigned to some sort of community project (real or made up) - one that would elevate his feeling of self importance and give him the attention he is seeking while keeping him busy and out of everyone else's hair? Narcissist are usually insecure - make him feel important and he may settle down.

Not a fun situation. Here's hoping he'll move soon.

If the HOA is already on him AND he is only leasing, I'd ratchet up the pressure to the real home owner through the HOA. Let them be the bad guy.

And when none of that works, patronize the daylights out of him. He probably wouldn't get it and you could have a ball getting the rest of your neighborhood friends involved.

He may be a narcissist. Probably a borderline personality disorder. Google it and see if it fits. Unfortunately my mom and sister are borderlines. Too bad they don't have HOA's for families.:rotfl:

Sleeping pills in his drink??

Good Luck,
Norm

Hmmm, that might be a last resort. I'll position that on the list right before rat poison in his bean dip.:rotfl2:

Good thinking. And if I go out at 6 am to sing to the plants to make them grow faster--all the better, right??

This is the greatest idea I have ever heard!!! The only trouble is HOAs tend to interbreed, and form commitees to form new commitees to look into forming another commitee.

But I have a few relatives that could benefit from the long arm of the HOA!!

Thanks, guys, it all seems funnier now!!

Spray round up in his yard over where the gas pipe would be? (ya know, maybe he won't hang around if he thinks the house is going to blow up from a gas leak).

Someone need to teach him to fish, (not me)

Give a man a fish and he'll eat a meal, BUT teach a man to fish and he'll sit inna boat all day drinking,,,uh, I mean fishing !
Least he'll be outta your hair.
