We are attending MNSSHP on October 25th. My 7-year old wants to dress up as Harry Potter. Am wondering if you only see disney costumes on the kids or if they wear pretty much anything :confused3

Thanks for the help -

We'll be there on the 25th, too! There are ALL kinds of costumes. Our group is going as Star Wars, which we also did three or four years ago. Last year we did Peter Pan. You will see a lot of Disney costumes, but probably 1/3 to 1/2 are not.

If you see a group of four adults and two kids in Star Wars getups, say hi!

Not too sure about WDW, but at DLP any kind of scary costume does. I can remember riding Thunder Mountain on Halloween night 3 years ago, and the souvenier photo they took was great. There was my DH and myself sat in the train in front of Dracula, a blood-stained surgeon, Frankenstein and a witch! My only regret was I didn't buy it!

We saw kids as Harry Potter last year....and btw, Disney has the rights to Harry Potter, as you will notice they show the movies on tv, sell the books in UK in Epcot, and I have heard the music from the movies in MGM. :) So technically, it would be a Disney-ish costume anyway.

The first year we went, I had my DS in Buzz costume because I figured WDW Halloween party needed a Disney costume. Almost any costume will do. He's gone as Green lantern, army man, and SWAT guy. Have fun. It's a great time.

There were a ton of non-Disney costumes there, including us! All the Disney ones tend to get repeative as the night goes on and blur together. Hope your son decided to go as Harry Potter!

My DW went as a cat and I (duh) wore scrubs. mc97 is right - after the 47th Cinderella, the novelty wears off. (Didn't see nearly enough Ariels, though ;) )

My family is all dressing like Doctors.

My DS wore Spongebob last year, and was paraded around Chef mickeys by Goofy, who 'teased' him about a non-disney costume

Yay, Harry Potter!

I saw a group of teenaged Slytherin girls at one of last year's parties, they looked really cool. I was thinking of going as a Slytherin student myself, but figured I'd save it for the movie premier in a few weeks since I won't get the outfit done in time. :wizard:

We are going on the 31st and my DD is going as Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) which I think is MGM - so it works too, but glad to hear that not everyone will be Cinderella!
