Tell us your story! Here's mine. My DH (whose been to WDW/DL and owns DVC) still can't get the character names! I did my GS bedroom in Cars theme. Right above the crib is Lightning McQueen. My DH (bless his heart) still calls him "Speedy McQueen!" Drives me nuts. I also love my extended family (who've never gone to WDW) but insist that Disney World is the Magic Kingdom. Try to explain that there are 4 parks within WDW. My niece called to ask how she gets the reservation to stay at the hotel in the castle.... oh my....

This goes for all theme parks: when they confuse which one has which.

It’s one thing if it’s a smaller ride or park and you get confused or you are trying to find a similarity, but many humans constantly ask where WWoHP is (spoiler at universal), where the “golf ball” is (spoiler alert EPCOT)

And they are no where near those places.

Again we are all human we all get confused if it’s something like “oh hagrids is like that ride in Germany in Busch greens Williamsburg what’s its name?” (Verbolten) I don’t mind at all. It happens.

But big name things you should know…..no amount of research and preparation (and for any staff member training) can prepare you for that.

That stuff doesn't bother me, not in the slightest. I don't have any interest in what they like, so I'd probably sound like an idiot trying to talk about it.

The one that bothered me was when a former boss would talk about how we take all our vacations to Disney (we went about every 2-3 years and we had young children then). Of course, his twice yearly trips to Hedonism (a true "adults" 😉 AI) were totally logical. AND I got to hear him talk about it to everyone on the phone or who stopped in his office after his return (wasn't really an office, just partial fabric walls).

... My DH (bless his heart) still calls him "Speedy McQueen!" ....
If that were our family, we'd, probably, all be calling him Speedy McQueen by now! :rotfl:

I know what you mean, though.

It's understandable that most of the world doesn't know about Disney World; just don't try to correct someone who does know, I guess.

And if you're spending all that money on a trip somewhere, it's a good idea to do some research - so you don't miss out on Harry Potter in WDW or Mickey at Universal!

The owner of the company I worked for recently tried to correct me on what year Disney World opened. He kept insisting it was in 1972. My one coworker calls it Disneyland a lot too.
My fiancé had someone he works with mispronounce EPCOT as ETCOP so now that's just a running joke between us.

We live and work in Florida...
