Non-AP Ticket Holders and New Park Reservations System-INFO POST #76

I'm a DVC member with a reservation and I can't even purchase a ticket so how exactly does that qualify as preferential treatment? It's all about having a ticket really. On-site guests with tickets should receive first priority before off-site guests. That is one of the perks of being a WDW guest and it should remain so.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Onsite guests WITH TICKETS should get priority.

My response was to another poster (whom I quoted) who suggested Disney was catering to offsite guests. In reality, they are 'catering' (to use the previous poster's word) to guests who ALREADY have tickets.....which quite honestly should be honored, in my opinion, before those with just a hotel stay.

I'm totally fine with being 3rd in the pecking order, after onsite guests w/tickets and AP holders. But those with just a resort booking should certainly come AFTER us, as Disney needs to accommodate those who already purchased park admission before those that didnt (for whatever reason) regardless of where they are staying.

I have read the official guidance and much of this thread. I'd like to summarize my situation and understanding to see if anyone thinks I am correct or misguided.

  • I have park tickets with a hopper option for a week in August. I have a non-package resort reservation for the same week. The reservation is DVC but I believe that has no effect on the ticket issues.
  • I got the email and may make park reservations on Monday 6/22 at 7am EDT.
  • If choose not to go, and do not use the tickets, they can be used literally any date through 9/26/21 with no upcharge even if prices increase in the interim.
  • Alternatively, if we do not use the tickets in August we can trade them in for any date after 9/26/21 and get the official ticket price as of the date of purchase as a credit.
  • To be eligible for either of the preceding 2 options all I have to do is not use our tickets for their official week in August.
  • If we do go in August, I may modify my tickets to drop the park hopper add-on and get an appropriate refund.
  • To do this I must call.
  • There is no stated deadline for when I must call to modify, but presumably it is before we use the tickets to enter a park.
  • Conversely, if we use the tickets without first having modified them, I will presumably not be entitled to a refund even though we could not get the benefit of hopping.
  • If park access is curtailed to limited hours per day, I may either use them and get no partial refund on account of limited access (apart from the hopping portion previously mentioned ) or delay the trip until hopefully things get back to normal.
I think that is all correct, including the best guess presumptions, based on official announcements. Any disagreements in any part?

and what about my trip for December, where my kids have tickets but they're a different date than our resort reservation? Can I make those on Monday?

and I read somewhere that I can add my cousin's ticket on Wed since it's a 2021 resort reservation...
just to let everyone know I got an answer to my own question by chatting DVC MS - apparently when Disney said this:
502460

it is to be taken that previously dated tickets, like my kids, which had a use period beginning AFTER March 12, 2020 are basically good from any start date until Sept. 26, 2021.

Which means, since our kids tickets state Valid Dec. 17, 2020 -Sept. 26, 2021, and our resort reservation was moved from Dec. 17th to Dec. 9th but I wasn't able to change their tickets before the ticket shutdown I should NOT have issues making park reservations for our December trip.

however with that being said, I will still talk to ticketing after they open to make sure that is correct and to see if (1.) I can reduce the tickets by a day since we no longer need 7 day tickets and (2.) what are we doing about their park hopping upgrade?

I'm sure Disney will refund the difference for those of us who have hoppers and now can't use that feature...

Will we also have to pick a time slot to visit the parks? Like 8am-1pm instead of having access to the park all day?

From the Disney website:
Step 3: Select a Date and Park

Choose the date and the theme park that you’d like to visit from the available reservations. Please note that dates and theme park selections are limited and subject to availability.
After creating your party in the Disney Park Pass system, you’ll be prompted to:
  • Select a Date: View a calendar and choose one of the available dates for your visit.
  • Select a Theme Park: Park hours will be displayed for your convenience.
  • Select a Time: This is the time that you can visit the park.
After selecting your date, park and time, you can confirm your reservation.

The times listed will just be the hours for the park selected. You don’t need to pick a particular time slot. Show up whoever you’d like and leave and return as you’d like as well

Sorry to be dumb, but... On MDE, I see the information about the Park Reservation system, but no button to click to actually see the system itself. Will that not be there until Monday? I was hoping to mess around with it just to figure out how it worked before leaping into the fray with everyone else on 6/22.

It likely won’t show up until Monday. It looks very similar to the FastPass system and I think lost will be able to figure it out quickly. I’ve only seen screen shots of the entire system

Yes, on the website. It gives me lots of info on the new system, but does not explain exactly HOW to choose the dates, etc. I'm hoping something will look different when I sign in there on Monday?

Where have you seen that you can return to a park? Do you have to sign up for the 2nd arrival time?

I haven’t seen it stated yet, but it has been disclosed to me from a very reputable source. Your reservation is good for the entire day.

My understanding is you will have to pick a time for when you will be entering the park. Those times will be limited. That is to keep a large number of people from going to the park for rope drop.

That is not what I have seen and/or been told. The hours for the park, ex 9am - 9pm, will be one a single box with no other options. You click that box, confirm your reservation just like a FastPass. You can arrive at 9, 10, 6, etc.

Ok, then why will there be a place to check the time you enter the park? If there are no time slots there would be no need for that part, only pick the park. I would not think they want a crowd at park opening and they need to limit the number of people for that park day.

  • Select a Date: View a calendar and choose one of the available dates for your visit.

I can’t answer the why, only the Disney higher ups can. I’m just sharing the information that I have. And I guess we shall see what happens on Monday.

I know that as a resort guest with tickets package I can book for all the days of my stay but is it a case of doing it day by day? For example I have to select Monday’s park, confirm and then move on to Tuesday? Or will I be able to select Monday’s parks, tuesdays park etc and have them all selected before confirming? (I hope that makes sense!)

YES! the tickets were extended but their "start date" still reflects our original Dec. dates of Dec. 17th but we had a waitlist come through and I was able to move our trip to Dec. 9th - but not the tickets because of ticket shutdown.

So I wonder if they'll restrict me with those tickets from booking on Monday for all 4 of us since 2 of the 4 tickets dates don't "match" the resort reservation dates?
The start date doesn't matter. (Well, maybe if you were trying to move your trip sooner. But not to shift from Nov to April.)

It SOUNDS like timed entry to reduce gate crowding. Most folk won't mind this as most don't rope drop. I'm guessing if you arrive later than the time, it'll be okay.

-my musings are if they tie the reservation to the very ticket itself. So say you have 3 one day tickets and 2 two day tickets, -- if you have to enter each ticket for each day and scan that specific ticket for that date chosen. When doing FP elections, MDE knows how many valid days you have attached to you name; but doesn't assign specific FP to specific tickets.

YES! I did chat with MS and they confirmed that for me too - I wasn't sure since that start date mattered before but I guess not for now!
It mainly only mattered before in that the start date helped define the expiration date. It never needed to exactly match your resort dates.

I'm just going to wait and see what happens after the Parks open or Disney makes another announcement, whichever comes first. There's nothing I can do about it. :confused3I've had time to sit and think about it and it's not ideal for guests with a reservation and no tickets but I know Disney is trying to do the right thing by limiting park capacity and waiting to see how things progress so I'll wait a bit longer. Of course, there are people who have trips coming up that don't have the same luxury to wait so I certainly understand where they are coming from.

DEcember will be fine. It's the summer people wit the issue

I totally understand that. I also have an early October reservation but that has looked less unlikely with a higher risk adult in the party. December is the backup and hopefully more likely. I totally understand about upcoming trips but I would think they will have to let any Summer visitors purchase tickets soon. I can't imagine not allowing those guests from doing so. Maybe they are just waiting until sometime next week after they some idea of the number of reservations on Monday? 🤞

Where have you seen that you can return to a park? Do you have to sign up for the 2nd arrival time?

I was talking to a manager yesterday fixing an issue with my tickets and he told me that will not be a problem
no additional reservation needed

Is there any word on the number of guests being allowed into each park daily???
Disney doesn't disclose number, we will never know
