Noisy Neighbors - What do you do?

We have stayed in all types of units at OKW many times, and only twice have we had a noise problem. Once was a kid bouncing superballs at 6 AM, and a well placed broom handle to the ceiling stopped that. The other was a slight problem this trip. We had a 2 bedroom unit on the first floor under a GV. The GV has hardwood floors, so the living room/kitchen and second bedroom of the 2 bedroom unit gets the noise from the hardwood floor above. It wasn't horrible, but there must have been quite a few little ones up there, because there was a lot of running back and forth. It was never bad enough to complain about though. Come to think of it, I do remember one other time quite a few years ago where the people in the lock off studio must have had a LOT of kids in there with them because they were bouncing off the walls all the time. It was never a problem back in the master bedroom though, and we were just us two during that trip, so it was not much of an issue.

The towel worked for me last September also had little ones next door that tried to open connecting door and were excited...I just opened the door (after they left room) and put one towel in side between both rooms and another on my side of the door "no noise" for the rest of my stay.

Heres my story... I had a one bedroom .. it was late one nite . i was watching the resort channel:rolleyes: the studio lockoff was very loud with kids .. or teenagers . well i heard them open the connecting door once . then agian .. so i got up and opened my end.. well . i did scare those kids pretty good:cool: I said .. go to bed .verryy loudd .. they did . dave

Lexxiefan,
You are my kind of neighbor. You were so quiet they didn't know you were there. Maybe you should have made some noise in response to theirs early on! I'm happy to learn all the tricks to minimize the noise from lockoffs. I plan to use them to keep my side quieter and to lower the noise from the otjer side.

I did something similar to nydizfan - wasn't late at night, but during the day. We were in our 1 bedroom, and the noise was coming from the connecting door to the studio - was constant banging on our door.

I went over to the door, opened it on our side, and said STOP IT in a loud voice. Turns out it was a small child (4-5 years old), with their connecting door open, and was pounding on our door with a toy.

Kid was shocked and surprised, started to cry. Parents were surprised, but didn't say anything. After I said stop it, I closed the door (and locked it). We didn't hear that kid pounding on our door any more during our stay.

I have also been known to go outside and look at teh room number that's causing the noise, then call them and ask them to please keep it down - doesn't always help, but sometimes people just don't realize how loud they are being.

No Tresspassing Allowed

As long as a simple "Hello!?!?!?!" stopped it the first time, I would have been satisified. I have always put the free standing chair against the lock off door for our stays - studio's are a different story ( a simple plastic "door chock" will keep the door closed pretty tight - unless someone tries to "break down the door". Now that would be a first hearing that!

We were this oast week. On Sunday, the noise from the room below ours was horrible! We were in 4017 above the Brewery and they were on the 3rd floor outside drinking beer (or somethin in a can because I was actually hearing hte can being opened!!!) I was woken up at 1:00 am from them! I tried ignoring it, but no luck,

I finally got so fed up I called their room and said I was hte manager and we were getting complaints, could they please quiet down. Well you never heard it get so quiet so fast! They all went into the room and not another peep was heard :) (I also resisted calling them at 6:30 the next morning when we got up, it was hard, but I was good)
