We just returned yesterday (June 22) from a wonderful 7-day cruise on the Magic. Many thanks to all of the folks on these boards who take the time to share their experiences and tips.
I had read here about problems with noise from connecting cabins, so I was somewhat anxious about having a connecting room for our cruise. We were miserable the first night. We were tired from playing at WDW for several days, then from the excitement of finally getting on the ship, so we went to bed about 10 pm. The family in the connecting cabin came "home" after midnight and proceeded to wake the neighbors. Although we didn't see them all week, it sounded like they had a boy and girl under 8 years old. When they arrived at their room, "Daddy" started to chase the kids around the room, tickling them. How did we know? We could hear every word they said. The kids were screeching. The girl kept yelling to daddy that she needed to stop so she could go to the bathroom. They finally settled down over an hour later.
We gave them the benefit of the doubt--maybe they didn't realize we could hear everything. When we got up at 8 am, we could tell they were still sleeping, so we banged a few doors and stood near the connecting door and had a loud chat. My daughter wanted to know (innocently) why our neighbors were so noisy night the night before. I responded in a loud voice that I was sure they did not do it on purpose and that they must not realize we could hear everything they were saying.
End of story. We never heard another peep out of them the rest of the cruise. Although I don't usually believe in retaliation, I thought it might be the least confrontational way to alert them to the problem without embarassing them.
