Just wondering if anyone can recommend a set of noise cancelling head phones for a 5 year old that are not too costly?

thanks for the help. :goodvibes

I wouldn't look for noise cancelling headphones, look for ear protectors or hearing protectors- usually at sporting goods sights (they use them for shooting). The higher the decibel rating, the more sound they block. They're also available as earplugs, but my kids won't wear the earplugs. They do come in childrens sizes and some different colors (DD's are pink)

I got my son some noise reduction headsets at WalMart in the sporting goods section. He's been wearing them snce he was little.

Yes, the sporting goods stores or section at places like Wal-Mart. Also can go to a place like Home Depot and get the ones they use for construction work. The important thing in addition to blocking sound is going to be the comfort of them. My son who is is on the autism spectrum used to wear them and we went through a few pairs before found some that were comfortable enough for him to wear without squeezing his head, etc. (he also wears glasses, so that was an issue).

We got our sons at Wal mart. They are made by Winchester and we found them in the gun section. They on;y cost like $15.00

We also have some for my son, who is 9. We bought them three years ago I believe - at the Bass Pro Shop. They were with the guns/hunting supplies. My son has extreme sensitivity to loud noises and we barely make it through the fireworks. He has issues due to the brain tumor he had at age three. So, his treatment could have caused hearing loss or sensitivity - we will gladly take what we got and just stay stocked up on earplugs and our headphones. We take them to the movies, too and they work great!!

Thanks everyone.. we ended up ordering the kids ones on line and just got them today.... my son is already wearing them around.

I bought a pair of headphones for my little daughter 2 years back from Walmart. She was really happy with those headphones. She would wear them around in the house most if the time. kids!!:goodvibes

We use wireless headphones (found at a discount store for $15) but the shooting ear protectors from walmart also work great - Our youngest loves deep pressure input, and they are snug fitting enough to "squish" his ears nicely :)
