Hey all...

I was thinking of my last flight into SNA (years and years ago) and remembered being freaked out about something the planes did called "noise abatement".

Can someone tell me about this? Exactly what happens & when? Is it just on arrival or just on takeoff or both? Do they still do this?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi!

We visited Disneyland at the beginning of the month and flew into John Wayne. On arrival there isn't anything different (at least that I could tell), it's on take off where there is a reduction in power, so if you're not expecting it, it might make you a little nervous. Our pilot came on and explained what would happen, but I know not all pilots give the advance warning. Knowing ahead of time, I didn't find it a big deal at all. I can't remember how many minutes into the flight when the pilot cut back, but it wasn't long. Then once we got out of the restricted airspace he gradually throttled back up. Hope that helps a little. I loved flying in so close to Disneyland! Have a great trip! :)

Thanks for filling me in.

I just want to be ready. I'm not crazy about flying, and I have to make everything seem like no big deal for the kids.

Thanks! :flower3:
