Yeah, but to NOT KNOW there is a lazy river on the property?

In my opinion there is no lazy river on property at the Beach Club. I would not consider the pool area at SAB a lazy river and maybe those that work there do not either.

It certainly can not be compared to the lazy rivers at the water parks. I agree with Denise that the area at SAB that you can use the tubes is not worth the hassle. It's too small and too fast to be enjoyable.

We still bring our Maclaren stroller in a stroller bag. It can hold a lot of things, including a pool noodle!

Just so you know, part of why folks use these floaties is that the water in the "lazy river" section is quite deep -- maybe eight feet or more. If you are not a good swimmer you NEED a floatie. It's fun to float through there with a tube or noodle. I get the cheap tinted see-through ones at Walmart for about $2 and these are OK.

I described it as a lazy river type of area where you float around. Everyone I talked to, with the exception of the man who returned my call from BC recreation, read the description of SAB as a "sandy bottom pool area with a slide". Nowhere did it mention that it had a "loop" to float around in.

I didn't mean to start a debate on whether or not the CMs should know what each resort offers, but I would think that someone who works at the Beach Club, and I called the number on my confirmation 934- 2175, assuming I was getting the front desk at the Beach Club, would know about the resort.

I have to say this-people who stay at a deluxe resort at WDW or anywhere else usually do not worry themselves about the cost of a rental of some tube. Their bill at the end of a stay at a deluxe resort usually amounts well into the thousands of dollars. It is no wonder that the front desk at BC has treated DVC customers like "poor cousins" in the past. I would suggest you rent the tube they have and enjoy yourself.

We had a blast when we rented tubes for my family at SAB. We got 2 regular ones and one double tube (do they still have those??).

Have fun!!:boat:

I take my DS to get his haircut there and it is $12 for kids and I believe $15ish for adults. It's first come first serve and the two there are great. Sometimes you get lucky and get a quartet to come in and sing.

I am not "worrying" myself about the cost of the tube rental, as you so kindly put it, but if I can save myself some money, I will. There are four of us going. We are planning on going to the pool everyday. At $40 a day for five days, that's $200 I could be spending on something else.

Call me the "poor cousin" or cheap or whatever.

Like I said, I didn't want to start a debate about this.

Smart woman Sharon!

Some people have $200 to throw away on tubes- wish they would throw some my way, cuz I'd gladly take money from someone who is so willing to part with it. I'm like you- I work hard for my money and I'd rather spend it on something truly worth it!

Thanks for sharing that info with us Sharon. Its good to know the details of float sizes, etc.

I consider it intelligent to check the rules, and then follow them. If that SAVES you money, then all the better. If DISNEY wanted to force patrons to rent their floats, THAT would be the rule. Since they allow outside floats that are of appropriate size and transparency its only smart to bring your own if you have a large family and/or are spending every day at the pool. I consider spending $10 a day per float pretty foolish if I can buy a $1.50 float at Target (which packs flat), allow my kids unlimited use of said float, and then pass it on to another family on our last day. The reason I'm not a 'poor cousin' is because I DON'T throw money away for no reason.

And last, while its most likely unreasonable for all CMs to know everything about a resort or park, it is NOT unreasonable for them to know the appropriate contact to GET the information. That should be basic training in ANY job - minimum wage or not.

Thank you Tagrel, I do agree they should know who to put you in contact with.

For future reference.

As far as the call going to Beaches and Cream. The recreation office at the Beach Club is right next door to B and C and sometimes when the Rec staff is out, they grap the phones.

Right now Disney is seriously understaffed and everyone can thank Eisner for that.

I just know from personal experience the majority of staff at Disney right now is underpaid, overworked, under appreciated, under trained and I just wish at times people could give them a break.

I mean we are talking inner tubes, :)

Yeah know, I'm really sorry I asked this, what some people think is a stupid, silly, being cheap, you fill in the blank, question.

I will think long and hard before I do it again.

Well, I hope you won't hesitate to post either a question or answer in the future! (or both as you do in this thread)

You called the resort to check policy because you wanted to follow the rules. Disney obviously has a POLICY covering innertubes (as you eventually found out) - so I fail to see how it can be considered a silly question.

Whats silly and trivial to one customer, is not to the next. There are many aspects of a resort stay that I would find trivial or of little value to me personally. But I'd never be so presumptuous as to tell others what THEY should consider trivial.

It's really more of an oxbow, eh?

Sharon, please ignore the condescending poster...

We poolhopped to SAB a few years ago (while they still had poolhopping) and rented one of those inner tubes. We floated on it a couple of times and then were stuck with it for the whole day. What a big waste of money!!

I like the pool noodle idea much better (thanks guys!!) and will remember it if we ever get back to BCV. That's if they will ever allow us poor relations to stay there.

My comments actually were never directed to you personally, so if you took it that way, you misunderstood. Other than your description of the "lazy river" and this was not a critism, but an explanation that maybe that was causing some of the misunderstanding.

You certainly have the right to request information on anything you would like to know about.

I just happen to know how things work there and thought you would like that info, so you would understand why the Front Desk does not know about the pool and why Beaches and Cream answers the Recreation phone. I guess you did not want this info.

I am sorry if sharing facts, upset anyone. That was not my intent. And I did not make remarks that your questions were silly, you were cheap etc. I believe that was someone else.

Sometimes we all need to remember when we post a thread that not all comments are directed to the OP, but to comments made along the way.

Enjoy your trip. I am glad the Recreation staff was able to answer your questions, the Beach Club has some wonderful staff.

Here's another idea. Last year we saw a lady that had a net seat that you put on the noodles. I found them the other day at Walmart. You slide them over the noodle and you have a seat that you can go around the lazy river. It is really cool and it was about $5. considering shipping for the clear tubes this is a lot cheaper and easier to transport. They come in a variety of colors also.

Don't ever be sorry to ask a question, that's why we are here. I actually wanted to know the answer to your exact question. I thank you for taking the time to report the answer back.

Enjoy your trip, as a BCV owner I know you will. I was very sad there was no availability there for our December trip. Next year I will get my act together earlier.
