Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Me too! I know someone who asked her boss for a flexible work arrangement and at first he hemmed and hawed but ultimately came back to her and said "would you be OK with working Tues, Wed, Thurs?"

Her response was "hmmm... and have Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon off every week?? Heck, yeah! ::yes::"

Of course she earns a part-time salary but boy oh boy does it sound good to me!

I used to work 4 days a week and I LOVED IT. I still worked 40 hours, just a double shift on one of the days. I seriously loved it. It was Sunday-Wednesday so I had Thursday, Friday & Saturday off. I really hope that in a few years that I can down to part time. Even if it's 30 or 35 hours, it would still be less. That is our ultimate goal, along with moving to Maine. :thumbsup2

That's a great goal to work toward! :thumbsup2 Sounds like :cloud9: to me! I've got to start doing something about all my dreams and goals instead of just moaning that I want them to happen!

Totally, I am sick of moaning and dreaming about them. I have a goal in my mind so everytime I want to go out to dinner or spend frivolous money I just think about that because if I don't act smart it will never happen.

Good evening Gnomies!

Well, I'm getting a little more brown and I made a nice dent in my book! It's called Swoon but the author's name is evading me at the moment. It's different from anything I've read lately and quite well-written for being Teen Fiction! It's about a girl who falls for a ghost who is possessing her cousin! What a wacky situation! ;) But it was a nice relaxing afternoon! And now I am simply waiting for my hair to dry and for the new season of True Blood to come on at 9pm!

I hear you guys about focusing more on the goals. Lately I've been feeling very much in a rut and very unhappy with my body. So, I'm going to definately start doing more walking and such to get myself back into some form of shape (as opposed to my round-shape now!), and start being more active in my job search! It has to be something I will enjoy and will pay the bills rather than one or the other! Though it does feel as though I'm looking for the Holy Grail!:rotfl:

I hope you're all having a nice evening! :)

So much chatter I forget what all I wanted to comment on.

I must say I have really enjoyed this year of not working full-time. The flexible work time is really an amazing thing after the obviously strict times required of teaching. It has been a very low-stress year and after the stress of the last 2 years of my old job, it has been a blessing. On the other hand, I have really missed a full-time paycheck and we're not going to be able to swing it much longer. Hopefully I will get this part-time teaching job at Greg's school AND keep working my current job next year so the cash flow increases!

Well, we made the decision yesterday that a trip to PA is out for this year. We are more limited on time than will make is worthwhile. It would be driving a couple days for 1 day of fun, repeat. Not really worth it. SO I think we will instead plan a visit to Wisconsin Dells. It's not even a full days drive and we can then stay several days. I would love to take the ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon (where my family lives) but Greg doesn't want to do that so we will probably head down to Chicago for a day or 2 before making our way up to Michigan. I'm bummed that means a visit with Paula and/or Jess is out :guilty: Stace, we should see about meeting in MI if possible. Julez, we really need to make a plan to visit!

Our lazy weekend is about over. Greg has summer school in the mornings and I will be working afternoons for the next 3 weeks. add in the boys camps, T-ball, swimming lessons, etc...we have a lot going on. Next weekend we have Patrick's b-day party (which means I have to start contemplating a cake) on Saturday then the boys are taking Greg to have "Daddy and Me" pictures taken for father's day on Sunday.

Enjoy True Blood, Stace. I canceled HBO to save some money so I will be missing out on it. :sad2: It's too bad too because it was one of the few shows that Marc and I actually both like so we could watch it together.

I just started a new book this weekend, it's called "Through A Glass Darkly." It's set in 1715. It is so good! I've never heard of it before but apparently it's the first in a series. I am loving it while I wait for Amazon order to come.

hi guys! I've been MIA becuz I've been moody about my trip cancellation! And free dining is all sold out of values- which makes me more mood!

Katie, whenever your trip is planned, let me know! Or a day trip in Dubuque after we get back from Florida mid-July would be good too. I'm def. headedd too Chicago last weekend of July for the Christmas Carol train thing too....

hope everyone had a great weekend!

JACKIE JACKIE!! I'm going to let C ask all the questions and I'm just going to anxiously await all your answers!! Welcome Home darling...you were definitely missed!

Thank you, Jen!!! I am glad to be back on the boards! Not so glad to be away from WDW though.

Gnomies, I will refrain from joining in on the weekend being over discussion. :rolleyes1 ;)

Good morning, Gnomies!

Stace- glad you had a good weekend!

Katie- sorry you canceled the PA trip but the Dells sounds fun. I forget- are you following Brookelizabeth's TR? She and her family just went there. It looked cool!

LL- good for you on the HBO sacrifice. And thanks for all the book recommendations!!

Julez- I don't blame you for being moody. But at least we're almost in single digit months for gnomefest!

CP- thanks for your restraint. ;) I know it's hard to come back from WDW but at least you don't have to come back AND go back to work and school!

Good morning my Gnomettes!

Yes, we are almost at single digits, huh? Last night when I passed Home Depot I thought I should stop in and get some more mickey heads for my monthly countdown and then I thought how exciting.... only 9 more 1 month markers and then a 30 day countdown!!!

I am still trying to figure out how to make my birthday special though.....

Jackie- um... yea... good retraint not rubbing that in or anything.... not like I completely forgot you don't have to go back to work for a couple months....

Alright- off to do morning things.....

Good morning, Julez! Well, it's really already down to a month and a half before I go back. ;)

Good Morning Gnomies!

I'm itching to add HBO back since everyone is talking about True Blood this morning. EEEK! Must be strong!

I have been having problems sleeping again, didn't fall asleep until almost 1AM. BAH! I don't know what is wrong with me lately, I did that last week too.

Morning, LL! I slept horribly last night, too. I went to bed about 1:30; the dogs woke me up around 2:30; and then, they woke me up again at 7:30. I feel like death warmed over.

I haven't watched the first season of True Blood yet, so I am really behind.

However, I am super excited today because the library called to let me know that Dead and Gone is in (I had put it on hold awhile back). Hurray!

I don't know what is going on with me. I have always had a hard time sleeping but lately over the last few months it's been ridiculous. I am not super tired but I know I will be dragging later today.

I haven't read the last Sookie yet either. I need to get it but I have been loving my historical fiction lately, I can't get enough.

I really want a ticker in my signature but I am afraid I might jinx future trips.

I may have to take a nap later on...

I have such a stack of books that I need to be reading.

Same here. I don't want to put a ticker on until I have an actual trip booked.

Good Morning Gnomies...I have about an hour of leisure time before I have to start getting ready so I'm just chilling on the computer. It's amazing how different the weather is in Kansas compared to Florida...what a gorgeous morning LOL...no humidity LOL!!

Well speaking of goals...I started really looking at my health and Phillip and I had a talk last night and when we return home we are going to buy a stationary bike and we are really going to work on getting healthier...a lot of my unhappiness right now stems from the fact I know I'm not in shape and I can be. So wish me luck!!!

Katie...what are your dates for being in Michigan again????? We are going in July...will have to ask Phil the dates...I'm so disorganized right now and I hate it. Does anyone have a great calendar or planner they could recommend to help me get my life in order!!

Jackie...enjoy that nap and some books and of course getting ready to write that TR LOL!!! I have set the date for starting my PTR for Sept/Oct - June 28th LOL that will be ADR day so I will have a lot of fun things to share then and that means my TR has to be done then. I have done a lot of writing now I just have to do the typing LOL (I'm a poet and didn't know it LOL)

Now about the part time work thing...I would love that...I used to work a split shift where I would work 4 hours in the morning be done by 9-10am and then not have to be back to work until 2pm and that gave me the mornings to get a lot done and I loved it. It was also suggested for this upcoming school year that we go to 4 day work weeks...I LOVED THIS IDEA...of course trying to convince high schoolers that they should be in school 7-5pm didn't go over so well but to have a 3 day weekend ever week...they really liked that...however that suggestion didn't fly LOL!

Well I miss you all...I'm really looking to June 23rd because that is when my vacation really starts and I will be able just to catch up with you all!!

Stace glad you had a relaxing day and read more of your book and got a tan (I burn so I'm jealous)

Jules...big hugs lady! I miss ya around here!!!!

Have a great day guys!

Jen, you sound like you are on a roll this morning!

Hey Gnomies, what are the official Gnomefest dates again?

Ughh...its just an overcast day...I love these type of days...perfect for just sitting on the couch and enjoying my DIS and a cup of coffee and just a grand old time just relaxing in my pjs and I have to get ready to go LOL...WHY OH WHY...I need a vacation LOL...okay that was Thunder I just heard...ewwwwwww

Okay...I found the dates. April 21 - 28, 2010. Those sound right to me. I'm thinking of a 4 night trip for Gnomefest. :thumbsup2

That's probably what we're thinking too LL. In order to be able to go plus use less vacation days for work, we'll probably do either thurs, fri, sat, sun or sat, sun, mon, tues. :goodvibes
