oh crap.

I had a huge spreadsheet for my volunteers that I made up for Trunk or Treat. Today I talked to almost everyone (30+ people) and updated the spreadsheet to show what position they were going to be in. It took me all afternoon to talk to everyone and get the assignments written out.

I just checked the spreadsheet and ALL of the updates are gone. Its the same spreadsheet that I started with, none of the changes or assignments are there. I know I saved it but it isnt anywhere I can find.

I just want to cry.

Are you SURE you didnt save it as a copy and maybe youre looking at the wrong one?

Maybe you saved it under a different name.

If you are in windows do a search of all files updated today.

Try your temp folder & see if there is a copy in there.

I am in Vista, I went through all docs that were updated today and it isnt there. I was sure that I saved it. I did document recovery and I still couldnt find it.
Not in Temp files.

Thanks. I guess tomorrow I will have to call everyone again and try to recreate it.

do a windows search for *.xls (if it was an excel spreadsheat)

I'm betting it got saved to a temporary folder. Did you use the save icon each time you saved? If so, usually that forces the document to save wherever it was opened - like when you open an attachment in your email. It opens in a temp file and if you save without using File\Save As and naming the file, it will replace the temp file you opened.

You can try searching from the Start menu. Sorry, I'm on XP and not completely familiar with searching on Vista, I don't use that PC too often, but you should be able to go to Start\Search (or Find). Key the file name and/or try typing *.tmp to look at all temp files. Good luck!
