OK. We went to WDW twice in 2007. Going to HH in June. While I like HH, this means that We will not be going back to WDW until the summer of 2009. :sad1: I'm trying to focus on our 2009 plans to decrease the withdrawal symptoms. The only 2 DVC resort we have not stayed at yet are VWL and Vero beach. We have stayed at AKL but that was before it was DVC so I still count that as having stayed there. We are planning to stay at VWL for 2 weeks in August in a 1 bedroom. I'm looking forward to it. I just wish it was THIS summer and not NEXT summer!

I know the feeling! We are not going to WDW in 2008 either  . Taking our first DCL cruise and then spending a few days at Vero. Our next trip to WDW isn't until the end of February 2009. I am still not sure how well I will do with flying into Orlando and not going to WDW. I am hoping the excitement of the cruise will get me through.

Man, I don't know how you guys do it! I got home yesterday and don't go back until July and I'm having fits! I feel like an addict who "needs" to go to WDW!

Pocahantas: You will LOVE DCL! DS and I took a birthday cruise last August (our first DCL cruise) and cannot wait to do it again!

The DW tried to pull the no WDW in 2008. I was having the lawyer strike up the papers. When she realized that our youngest will be ticket next year. This tipped the scales to my favor. Now we are looking to go in November for a self-made Land and Sea. Land=DVC and sea is 3 day Disney Bahamas cruise.

I was just so happy to not split my assets over something like Disney. I mean, who would get the DVC?

I've made the same agreement only for 2009. We just returned from a five night stay earlier this month and then we're doing a seven night cruise in October going down two days early, doing the MNSSHP and no other parks then staying one more night on our return from the cruise. I told my DW we could bank our points for 2009 to give us more points for a longer stay in 2010 seeing our newest arrival will be two if we go then and she says "yea, right you go without WDW for a year that's impossible". You know , she could be right.
I must be strong!!!

Dh says this all the time, but we always end up finding a way to go every year.:thumbsup2 Of course, next year we are planning a cruise and he says that he doesn't want to go again in 2009 to WDW (just too hard with the kids in school now for these trips). So we'll see!

Count us in too. No WDW this year. We just had our 2nd DS on Jan. 2 so we aren't going this year. I don't want to even attempt a trip with a new baby. Way too much gear to handle! We took our 1st DS (who's now 4) when he was 15 months and that was a good age. So we'll probably plan our next trip for March 2009. Guess I'll be on the phone w/MS in April to make our reservations!

Though DS4 is really wanting to go to WDW this year too. He LOVES it! We've raised him well. :thumbsup2

DVC already has pack and plays and I think HC. All you need is bucket baby carseat and stroller. Babies are usually on regular schedules by then and pretty predictable. They also enjoy strolling around and looking at different things and people (just take lots of germex). WDW has nursing stations at all parks. We found this to be a great traveling age (vs. 15-18 mths that was the worst for us).

I agree with that. We traveled when my DD was 17 mo. old and my brothers DD was 9 mo old. My dd screamed every time a character approached her and would want to get down and walk around at some of the attractions. My niece at 9 mo old was fine with the characters, wasn't walking yet and was easy to feed between formula and baby food.

Well, we are leaving for our trip in just 5 days, and then we wont go back until the end of January 2009, and I'm already moping about that long wait!

We traveled twice with infants. I have 3 recommendations.

  • Rent a car. The bus system can be akward when trying to lug around strollers, and car seats.
  • Rent a locker to reduce your load while walking around
  • Take tons of photos.

Our 10 month old was in her glory. Not old enough to be afraid of the characters.

Pre-DVC, we've visited WDW in 2/2000, 2/2002, 10/2003 (BWV on rented points), 11/2004 (Contemporary via a contest win), and 4/2005 (OKW on rented points)

After purchasing 50 points in 2006, we had WDW trips in 7/2006 (existing banked points on resale contract) and 12/2006 (loved that one!).

I thought we could use a break from WDW, so we banked and borrowed for a week at HHI this past summer (hot, hot, hot in August!).

I thought we could hold out until spring break 2009 for another trip to WDW, but both my daughter and I are having a little WDW withdrawal, especially when we see the TV commercials!

But - I'm holding firm. No trip in 2008. Hope to put in a pool this summer - Rochester summers are getting hot enough to justify the expense. :sunny:

don't count AKL as AKV - DVC improved it.

so sorry! - plan not to go myself after this March trip - take a year off.

will my II exchanges are both at DVC. So still going.

and better yet my annual pass will still be good for both of them.

No WDW trip for us in 2008 either. I was trying to sneak a week into May at OKW. But DD is getting married in July and we are going to Italy with ABD in September. So DH cajoled me into waiting till May of 2009 for a two week long WDW trip. One major consolation is that we will have quite a few points for 2010 and have decided to go to France with ABD and tag on a few days at DLP and a couple in the Normandy region. I can't believe that I am having so much trouble with this. We just got back from a 7-day Western cruise and a week at BCV in October. This has got to be some kind of illness. I nearly cried when DH said that he didn't want to go to WDW right before the wedding. I know that he is nervous with all the cost. I really do have the budget down pretty good. But he can be such a worry wart.

Edit:
Well, I have to take back my statement. DH just found out he is going on a business trip to Orlando in April. So we decided to tack on a few days at SSR before the conference. I was super surprised that they had all the days open in a 1-bedroom. And they were all weekdays too!

BOOOOOHOOOOO WE went Jan. 07, Aug. 07, Nov. 07 and Jan. 08. Starting this summer in July .....we will only be able to go once a year because of the kids getting older and not being able to pull them out of school easily. Plus our oldest son starts high school and will be very involved with high school sports througout the year and they seem to practice over holiday periods. SO I figure if we can go every summer for at least 10 days.....then I will hopefully adjust. I know it will be hard when we don't go in either Nov. or Jan.

We went to WDW twice last year and it was great! We aren't going to WDW this year as we decided to use our points at DL. As much as I love going to DL, it's just not the same feel as spending a week wonderfully cut off from the outside world while on the WDW property. But the good news is we'll be back at WDW in January and June of 2009! With the June trip being a trip for just DH and I no kids! :cool1:

We took our now 14 year old son to WDW when he was 12 weeks old and our daughter was 3. We stayed at CR that year and we were nervous but we were shocked :scared1: at how many iddy biddy babies we saw that trip. IT was really pretty easy actually. GO FOR IT.

We were there Oct. 07, then Dec. 07/Jan. 08, then Feb. 08 (just got back last night) then we go back 10 days from now for March 08 trip, but then we dont go back again until Oct. 08 and then again Jan. 09. Dh and I were thinking about taking a break for the remainder of 09 but the kids said "no way". They are only young once so if they want to be with mom and dad at WDW then by gosh we will be going to WDW every chance we get!! :goodvibes

Glad I'm not the only one. We have gone every year since 2001. This year will "break the chain". However :rolleyes1 ......I am flying to Claremont Florida, solo for a week in April. Claremont is right outside of Orlando. I am going to watch my cousins 3 girls, ages 7, 5 and 4, so she and her husband can go on a 3 night cruise. (I know, I'm a FREAKIN SAINT!:worship: ) My cousin booked a night just for her and I at the Swan and Dolphin after she returns from her cruise. So techinically, I'll be in Disney for 2 days. I don't think it will help the withdrawals though. I think it will make me crave another vacation even more!! 2 days is just a tease!

:rotfl2: Too funny!

Oh and "Hi" from a fellow Rhode Islander :)
