I wrote to DCL and here is the response.

Thank you for choosing another Disney Cruise Line vacation.

I would be happy to assist you.

On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the queen-size bed cannot be
divided into two twin beds due the bed frame is elevated (approximately
12") to provide under the bed space to store suitcases and other items.
However, each stateroom would have a single convertible sofa, which is
turned down each evening of your cruise.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you.

Sincerely,

Stephanie

I agree that they should have at least SOME cabins with two single beds.

I got the same canned response from Disney. I think we need to start sending more letters.

Kim

Here is my reply to their canned response:

Dear Stephanie,

Thank you for the quick reply, but this is not very helpful. As a single traveler, wishing to try and keep expenses down by traveling with a companion, it would be much more restful for each of us to have a comfortable bed to sleep in each night. And when we go back to our cabin in the evening, it is nice to sit on the couch to relax and sort the day out. It does not seem as relaxing to sit on a made up bed. I hope DCL tries to come to a better solution to this dilemma.

Thank you for your time,

Here is their reply to my reply:

Dear Kimberly,

Thank you for writing back.

I regret your disappointment with the answer you received.

We truly appreciate your concerns and your email has been shared with the appropriate management teams.

We regret any disappointment and hope these concerns will not continue to affect your regard for Disney. There is magic in the Disney name and we anxiously anticipate sailing with you in the near future.

Sincerely,

JD

Maybe if we keep saying how unhappy we are, it might get some twin bed cabins.

Kim

Twin beds are definitely needed. I think that this is a big mistake on their part just like the aft layout.

The only problem is that I think we're the minority on this one, Nikki. Most of the people traveling on DCL are families. There are not many non-related travel roomies that would need split beds.

DCL is trying to please the people who had a problem with a middle seam on the joined beds. I'm not happy about the lack of twin beds on the new ships, but I'm not the majority target audience. Bleh.

I really don't know if there's a way Disney can please everyone on this issue.
