No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try. - ToT 10 Miler & F&W - Updated 12/21

Is HHN like MNSSHP where you have to get tickets early, or is it pretty much you can make a last minute decision? Boy, I HATE haunted houses - I've only been in one, and I was so scared I couldn't stop shaking for a half hour and I lost my voice. It was awful! You guys that like haunted houses, I just can't understand! And there's so many of you!

You usually can get away with not buying them early if you are going at the parties towards the beginning. If we end up going, it will be opening weekend which wasn't too bad last year when we went!

I enjoy horror movies & while the houses do scare me - I just get a thrill from it, especially if we have had a couple drinks!

Congrats on the MNSSHP tickets! I'm so excited to go this year and see the parade and the headless horseman (along with Hallowishes as well).
I haven't gone in a few years, I think the last time was in 2007. I did see Hallowishes last year though when I was enjoying the Omakase menu at California Grill as they gave us a 'break' to enjoy the dinner. I'm hoping the weather behaves & I can get some good photography!

That lemon peel mousse looks good to me, along with the blackened salmon and the tenderloin. I didn't know that the Swan and Dolphin had anything like that, but it makes a lot of sense now that I do know!
They started it a few years back. I haven't gone to it yet but it seems like it fits well into the schedule this year!

Not via DVC early registration. Waited for general. Actually, my dd waited. I think she had to keep calling for like 20 minutes to just stop getting the "all circuits are busy" message. Then was on hold for an hour. She got it for her and my youngest though. (dh and I decided to keep our breakfast with his parents :roll eyes:)
Sorry it didn't work out in DVC early registration! Your DD & your youngest will enjoy it! Wait, isn't your youngest running the Kid Races or is she not this year?

if all goes well, we will be spending some time in Epcot this night just so we can have some food and wine in WS. If I see you I will try to not be too crazy with the :yay: waving. ;)

You wouldn't be the first person to go crazy with waving ;) I'll look out for you as well!

Our paths more than likely will not cross on the 2nd.
Enjoy your MNSSHP!

OMG! I am so excited that you posted that about the expo!!! Last year and up until recently it did not open until 11am or noon. So I checked when I saw your plan. It opens at 10am! :cool1::cool1:

We will be planning to go there as early as possible given we want to have lunch in dTD before we have afternoon tea at 2pm. So I might see you at the expo too. :goodvibes I promise though, I am not a crazy person who plans to maul you or anything. I might just politely wave.
I'm really glad they moved it up to 10AM as well. It works with my plans better and makes the day less hectic to do what I want to do. I'm not sure how much we'll end up spending in the Expo although we may actually enjoy it more this time as more of the stuff makes sense to us this year rather than last year when it comes to the sports endurance stuff! Plus I want to look at the Sweaty Bands!

RACE DAY!!! I am getting very excited for this!!! I do wish I had signed up for the 5k though... would have been fun to do with my mil….
At least you have your legs to thank you!

Do you have a costume yet? I will post a picture of mine at some point. You will have to watch for me. :good vibes
I'm going to order the Darth Vader Tank Top I think since I have my Boba Fett one already. I think trying to run in more than my compression capris & a tank top will be too much for me. Its in the list of things to buy this month. I will have to watch for you!

This is the day we check into the BWV IF our waitlist comes through. (it is just one night...why can't it come through. :rotfl:)

I hope it comes through for you too!

Yay for getting the MNSSHP tickets. I love that party. We are doing it on 10/2…
Enjoy it! It would have saved us money to do it on the 2nd but we have the Flying Fish Dinner & I want to make sure our bodies are adjusted to the later night run so forcing myself to stay out should help with ToT.

Love the pictures from your trip. I think it is so hard to get training in while away. I know I always set out to get more done and always settle for less than I planned. Good job in your attempts!!! AND on the weight loss! :woohoo:
It really is! Especially with having to worry about other people's schedules and dealing with the supplier visits. I'm glad we got some time to actually enjoy LA a little bit before taking the redeye. I'm not sure I enjoy red eyes though as it wiped me all day Friday!

August Week 1 Run Update

Monday August 4th
W9D7 - Rest Day

It ended up a rest day despite it was supposed to be a bowling day! See the following link:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.774032155981337.1073741842.192542820796943&type=1

Tuesday, August 5th
W10D1 - 50 Min Run

3.44 Miles @ 14:32 pace.

From the conversation I had with the guy that has been doing the active release on my ankle as its been healing, I need to stick to treadmill running as I started swelling again slightly.

Wednesday, August 6th
W10D2 - 40 Minutes Crosstraining

I got 9 miles done in 38 minutes. I kinda didn’t have my heart into this workout but I was on my phone for half of the bike ride as my mother called for planning of our weekend Disney trip (Trip #3!)

Thursday, August 7th
W10D3 - 50 Min Run

Didn’t happen. I’m beginning to feel really overwhelmed at work and the past few days I’ve spent 85% of my day in meetings and haven’t been able to play any catch up. I hate that feeling. Before vacation season starts on August 30th, I really hope that feeling is gone.

Friday, August 8th
W10D4 - 55 Min Run

I actually only did a 50 Minute Run that was originally planned on Thursday.
3.50 Miles in 50 Minutes so 14:17 Pace

Saturday, August 9th
W10D5 - 40 Minute Crosstraining

10 Miles on the Bike in 40 minutes. I think my coworkers are in a non-work out phase as I haven’t heard anything about meeting up to work out anymore.

I also ordered some of the GUs that actually worked for me off of Amazon:
bqbIzgU.png

So far, its been the one I’ve tolerated the most. I’m going to stick with it from now on for GU use. I also need to order a both of the Watermelon or Fruit Punch Sport Beans and just stick to those. I need to order Lemon-Lime for Shaun but those can wait as we still have some beans left in our work out candy bowl.

Sunday, August 10th
W10D6 - 110 Min Run

7.78 miles in 110 Minutes. 14:08 pace. I actually completed the 2nd half faster than the 1st half as well which is good. It was on the treadmill as per the doctor on Tuesday, need to keep that up until I fully heal. I didn’t want to die at the end either! I was able to get the grocery shopping done afterwards instead of needing to come home and cooling down! I think I’ve finally figured out what works for me fuel wise - 2 Sport Beans every 20 minutes and a Gu around 50/55 minutes plus the water! Guess I need to get rid of the nuun tablets I have & find someone else to give them to.

Sorry it didn't work out in DVC early registration! Your DD & your youngest will enjoy it! Wait, isn't your youngest running the Kid Races or is she not this year?

Nope, she is not running it. She isn't happy about it... but it is what it is. my oldest is in charge of their time (even though we will spend a lot of time together too) So young one has to go along with what her sister wants to do.

You wouldn't be the first person to go crazy with waving ;) I'll look out for you as well!

:rotfl: Please do keep an eye out for me... and we should really try and meet up. It would be nice to at least say hello... grab a picture to show it happened (so we can be good disers;))

At least you have your legs to thank you!

Yup... tis true.

I'm going to order the Darth Vader Tank Top I think since I have my Boba Fett one already. I think trying to run in more than my compression capris & a tank top will be too much for me. Its in the list of things to buy this month. I will have to watch for you!

OH, that is right! I remember you were choosing before. I can't keep my own stuff straight. :sad2:

I hope it comes through for you too!

I hope so. :goodvibes

It really is! Especially with having to worry about other people's schedules and dealing with the supplier visits. I'm glad we got some time to actually enjoy LA a little bit before taking the redeye. I'm not sure I enjoy red eyes though as it wiped me all day Friday!

I have not taken a red eye in forever because my dh hates them for that very reason. I will be taking one come february though...so hopefully it won't wipe me out cause I will have important things to do. ;)

Tuesday, August 5th
W10D1 - 50 Min Run

3.44 Miles @ 14:32 pace.

From the conversation I had with the guy that has been doing the active release on my ankle as its been healing, I need to stick to treadmill running as I started swelling again slightly.

That doesn't sound good! no more swelling!!

Friday, August 8th
W10D4 - 55 Min Run

I actually only did a 50 Minute Run that was originally planned on Thursday.
3.50 Miles in 50 Minutes so 14:17 Pace

close enough!

Sunday, August 10th

First, awesome job on your run!!!

Second, that sounds like about what I do with the beans and if I am really needing something more I have done a gel/gu thing at about the hour mark. I reserve my nuun for after the run.

Nope, she is not running it. She isn't happy about it... but it is what it is. my oldest is in charge of their time (even though we will spend a lot of time together too) So young one has to go along with what her sister wants to do.

I'm sure the all you can get French Pastries will keep her happy & she'll forget about the races ;)

:rotfl: Please do keep an eye out for me... and we should really try and meet up. It would be nice to at least say hello... grab a picture to show it happened (so we can be good disers;))

We definitely should! Either on October 1st in EPCOT or right before the Expo. I figure actual race day will be too crazy while everyone corrals and such.

I have not taken a red eye in forever because my dh hates them for that very reason. I will be taking one come february though...so hopefully it won't wipe me out cause I will have important things to do. ;)

You do have very important things to do that day! I think it depends on how much you are able to sleep on a plane. I fail at sleeping on planes for the most part which doesn't help.

That doesn't sound good! no more swelling!!

I'm not sure if its ever going to be 'no more swelling' but rather 'minimal swelling' but maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

First, awesome job on your run!!!

Second, that sounds like about what I do with the beans and if I am really needing something more I have done a gel/gu thing at about the hour mark. I reserve my nuun for after the run.

I actually modeled it a bit after what you said you did after I had that horrible body freak out run as I needed to change something.

August Week 2 Run Update

Monday August 11th
W10D7 - Rest Day

Tuesday, August 12th
W11D1 - 50 Min Run

3.5 Miles in 50 minutes so 14:17 pace!

Wednesday, August 13th
W11D2 - 40 Minutes Crosstraining

Didn’t happen :) Shaun & I saw Lets Be Cops right after work then I headed to a BBQ at a friend’s house - there just wasn’t time.

Thursday, August 14th
W11D3 - 50 Min Run

Wasn’t really feeling it. I did go to the gym and try a 20 minute pseudo speed work session. I got 1.5 miles done in 20 minutes so 13:20 pace. When I’ve been on the treadmill prior to today, the highest I would go would be about 5.3mph. Today, I got up to a 7.0 for at least a minute at the peak as I went between walking and ‘sprints’ of 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0. This was probably a bit much but at least its something to try to work on getting my speed up.

I then went to the grocery store to get everything for the game night I hosted on Saturday.

Friday, August 15th
W11D4 - 55 Min Run

Again, I wasn’t really feeling it. I got 1.40 miles done in 20 minutes & called it quits.

Saturday, August 16th
W11D5 - 40 Minute Crosstraining

I met back up with my coworkers this morning. We did something difference and did laps at one of their community pools as it has an olympic size pool with a couple ‘lanes’ This made me happy. Typically when we are all working out together, I’m the slowest when we do race type things. Growing up in Florida, I became a strongish swimmer so I was able to be right up there towards the front/middle of the pack as we did our 10 laps. I also still had energy at the end. If I didn’t have to get the dogs to the vet, I would have gone for longer.

I also got to do about a .25 mile sprint around 6:00PM this evening when my one my dogs escaped from his collar during our walk pre-game night and bolted down the street. Sprints in flip flops with my ankle was not fun.

Sunday, August 17th
W11D6 - 90 Min Run

W8RT7vO.png

This was a good run. I was finally able to maintain a pace I haven’t really done in long term since I hurt my ankle 5 weeks ago. Didn’t feel bad at the end although I was tired but I guess that is what I get for not going to bed until after 1AM as we still had people over until 12:30. For the game night I hosted, I had decent food - Korean BBQ Beef, Toasted Sesame Chicken, Rice, Stir Fry Veggies & Salad which I knew wouldn’t kill me for having a long run the next day. I also only had 2 glasses of wine so I wouldn’t be hungover which also helped. It makes me glad I also picked LTT for our dinner prior to race day since I’ll be able to eat blander proteins and carbs without the grease.

August Stridebox

q6V99ga.jpg

My husband immediately stole the locking laces and the protein powder from me. He wasn’t quite sure why they would put a bulking protein powder in the box but he’s in a ‘gain’ cycle so he’s eating all the protein he can & he wanted the laces so I wasn’t going to say no.

I’m excited for the power ice for a cooldown once I can run outside again which I still can’t do.

I’m probably going to stop the box after next month as I think I’ve found the formula that works for me with the sport beans and gus.

Still here, following along!

I have definitely had "not feeling it" days too where I cut it super short. I try to do around 3 miles a day, walk or run, but some days I just get halfway through my jogging path and think "nope" and go home instead.

That looks like a good stride box!

So, I've never used the gels or anything myself, regardless of how far I go - what exactly do you feel like they do for you, or, what DO they do for you?

Thanks for still following along! I need to play catch up on everyone else's reports as this past week has been really busy. I also have 13 days until the cruise so I have to pack and get ready for that too!

I think most people have days where they just aren't feeling it but at least there is some effort - which is better than doing nothing.

For runs longer than 60 minutes, I need to do something to fuel to keep myself energized to complete the run without feeling like dead weight at the end. I've found the right combo that works for me after a few trials and flavor trials. If its less than 60, I'm usually fine to complete it though without anything extra.

We ALL have those "not feelin' it days"...it's frustrating! :sad2: Good for you for trying your best to push through it!

Swimming is supposed to be really great cross-training for runners. I wish I had the time to fit in a swim or two each week. Must have been nice to mix it up a bit! :goodvibes
I also got to do about a .25 mile sprint around 6:00PM this evening when my one my dogs escaped from his collar during our walk pre-game night and bolted down the street. Sprints in flip flops with my ankle was not fun.
 Oh noooooo! Glad you caught him!!

Great job on your long run!! That's great that you are getting back to your pre-injury pace. That has got to feel good.

Wow, that sounds delicious! :)

True story - one of my buddies "trains" by having a glass of wine the night before every run. :rotfl2: She successfully completed the Glass Slipper Challenge this year, so I guess her "training" paid off! :thumbsup2

That's the point I got to with Stridebox as well - it was fun to try different stuff at first, but once you know what works for you it sort of feels like you're just throwing money away on stuff you won't use. :confused3 It did for me, anyway.

We definitely should! Either on October 1st in EPCOT or right before the Expo. I figure actual race day will be too crazy while everyone corrals and such.

We arrive pretty late on 10/1 but the plan is to head to Epcot after we arrive. If you are still there, that could work. I also think we will be at the expo around the same time. If you want to text me we can kinda touch base when we are there.

I think that is the trouble with injuries... they can always flare up. I have two injuries that every now and again remind me that they happened. Nothing too horrific or anything...but definitely a "oh yeah... I remember you" type feeling. I hope it is nothing more than that for you. :goodvibes

I actually modeled it a bit after what you said you did after I had that horrible body freak out run as I needed to change something.

August Week 2 Run Update

Good grief I am behind!

Tuesday, August 12th
W11D1 - 50 Min Run

3.5 Miles in 50 minutes so 14:17 pace!

I think we all have those days of not feeling it. Seems like more and more of my runs are in that category. I get them done...but man I feel like I am sloshing through jello as I run.

Friday, August 15th
W11D4 - 55 Min Run

Again, I wasn’t really feeling it. I got 1.40 miles done in 20 minutes & called it quits.

At least you got something in though! :thumbsup2

Swimming is supposed to be really great cross-training for runners. I wish I had the time to fit in a swim or two each week. Must have been nice to mix it up a bit! :goodvibes

It has been nice cross training! It doesn't seem to be as hard on my joints and seems to relax where I'm feeling tight.

Great job on your long run!! That's great that you are getting back to your pre-injury pace. That has got to feel good.

It does feel good to do that! I just hope I can keep it up with the amount of travels going on in the next month.

True story - one of my buddies "trains" by having a glass of wine the night before every run. :rotfl2: She successfully completed the Glass Slipper Challenge this year, so I guess her "training" paid off! :thumbsup2

I like that training plan! One glass doesn't seem to affect me much - this is why I'm glad the Flying Fish Wine dinner is on Thursday - as we are in walking distance to our room, I'm not going to monitor myself as much as I have at events when I know I have to drive - gives me enough time to have a hair of the dog on Friday and then behave on Saturday ;)

That's the point I got to with Stridebox as well - it was fun to try different stuff at first, but once you know what works for you it sort of feels like you're just throwing money away on stuff you won't use. :confused3 It did for me, anyway.

That is my feelings exactly. I mean, its only $15 a month but thats 3 Starbuck Trips or 1 lunch out at work. I'm glad I found what works for me finally though without too much difficulty, save learning that nuun hates me.

That is my hope :thumbsup2

We have those dinner plans and then planning on drinking or eating some more around the world. If not, the expo will work. I sent you my cell on fb.

It will be such a short trip for me. (only 5 nights) and I am really really hoping that I can get that sleep in on the plane.
I hope you can too! My Rebel Challenge trip is short as well but its all we can do with vacation and such plans.

I think that is the trouble with injuries... they can always flare up. I have two injuries that every now and again remind me that they happened. Nothing too horrific or anything...but definitely a "oh yeah... I remember you" type feeling. I hope it is nothing more than that for you. :good vibes

I hope its nothing more than that either! I've always had an ankle problem since middle school - I just need to make sure I watch where I run and I should be ok. I will be walking the trail portion of ToT as I'm not risking injury trying to get through there quicker.

I think we all have those days of not feeling it. Seems like more and more of my runs are in that category. I get them done...but man I feel like I am sloshing through jello as I run.

I get that feeling a lot. I think its just the summer catching up to me along with other outside stresses.

:worship: See... me and swimming are a no go. I would barely be able to do one lap!

See, I wish I could swim every day. I wish we would have bought a house with a pool so I could do that but we didn't so I just get to abuse my coworkers' pools. I also grew up in Florida with easy access to the water though.

Looks like a good box!
It was! Shaun really liked that protein and has it in his cart for his next work out supplement order.

August Week 3 Run Update

Monday August 18th
W11D7 - Rest Day

Tuesday, August 19th
W12D1 - 50 Min Run

For as exciting as it was for a run related activity day, I ended up skipping my run. My husband had a rough day at work. We ended up going to Hooters when he got home & well I just didn’t want to run on a stomach of beer & breaded hot wings.

What exciting run related things happened?

1) ToT 10 Miler Program Was Released:
http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/tower-of-terror-10-miler/Tower14_Program_PDF.pdf

2) A coworker & I signed up for the Glass Slipper Challenge in Feb 2015. We’ll be staying at the Pop Century from Feb 19th to the 22nd. Monday the 23rd at work, we’re going to be those annoying people wearing our medals to work and probably limping.

Wednesday, August 20th
W12D2 - 40 Minutes Crosstraining

I got 10 Miles done on the bike in 40 minutes.

Thursday, August 21st
W12D3 - 50 Min Run

Didn’t happen. I thought Shaun was going to be home shortly after me when I got home from work right before 5PM, but he was kept late & didn’t get home until 7PM. If I had known he was going to be home so late, I would have just gone without him. We were both hungry at this point & just went out to dinner instead.

Friday, August 22nd
W12D4 - 55 Min Run

A shortened version of this run happened. I woke up at 7AM - was getting ready to go to the gym for 8AM - when I got like 5 text messages from work that I had to come in to fix something despite it being my friday off. I went in and dealt with the issue and then headed to the gym but when running, I was just frustrated as it was something that could have been easily avoided. I called it quits after 30 minutes & 2.3 miles done.

Saturday, August 23rd
W12D5 - 40 Minute Crosstraining

I met up with my coworkers again for swimming. We did 10 laps in the olympic size pool!

I then proceeded to get packed for the cruise & bought a cute new tote.

This will let me have something functional to carry around my camera, kindle and phone (since they have that new app) on the boat and during excursions.

We also booked a night at Saratoga Springs on August 29th now so that we can drive up after I get out of work on Friday & we drop off the dogs. I’ll post my trip report link next week!

Sunday, August 24th
W12D6 - 70 Min Run

For actual 60 minute ‘run’ portion when I take away the cooldown & warm up - I got 4.33 miles done in an hour so a 13:53 min/mil.

We ended up going to Hooters when he got home & well I just didn’t want to run on a stomach of beer & breaded hot wings.

Wait  that isn't good running food? :rotfl:

What exciting run related things happened?

1) ToT 10 Miler Program Was Released:
http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/tower-of-terror-10-miler/Tower14_Program_PDF.pdf

It is getting closer!!! :woohoo: soon we will be getting those waivers.

2) A coworker & I signed up for the Glass Slipper Challenge in Feb 2015. We’ll be staying at the Pop Century from Feb 19th to the 22nd. Monday the 23rd at work, we’re going to be those annoying people wearing our medals to work and probably limping.

How cool is that??!!! For some reason I thought you were not going to. What made you change your mind?

[
A shortened version of this run happened. I woke up at 7AM - was getting ready to go to the gym for 8AM - when I got like 5 text messages from work that I had to come in to fix something despite it being my friday off. I went in and dealt with the issue and then headed to the gym but when running, I was just frustrated as it was something that could have been easily avoided. I called it quits after 30 minutes & 2.3 miles done.

I am sorry..that stinks. I have only once cut a run short because other things were plaguing my mind too much. Usually a run can help me to clear my head.

I met up with my coworkers again for swimming. We did 10 laps in the olympic size pool!

You go girl!!!

That is awesome!!!

CONGRATS on signing up for the Glass Slipper Challenge! That is so exciting! My friend that did it last year looooved it. How fun that you're doing it with a friend!

I'm so jealous of all of you Disney runners that are doing ToT this year. Some day I will get that Tower medal!! :)

Super cute tote for your cruise! :) I did like having the app on the Dream last month. The paper Navigator is really helpful, obviously, but with the app you can limit the kinds of activities you want to find, so that makes it a little easier to read. You can also see the menus for each of the MDRs, so that was nice. SSR was our pre-cruise resort, too! We liked it but didn't get to spend much time there.

Good luck keeping up with your training on the Fantasy, and have a fantastic time! :)

Wait  that isn't good running food? :rotfl:
Very tasty non training food at least ;)

It is getting closer!!! :woohoo: soon we will be getting those waivers.
I can't wait! Hopefully they will be out by the time I get back from the cruise.

I wasn't going to go. I had actually decided against it & was ok with that. Then about a week and a half ago, a coworker and I started talking about the races she was going to sign up for & how she tried for the Big Sur Marathon & couldn't get in. Princess got brought up as its on her bucket list as well & since she's saving money from not doing Big Sur, she thought about doing princess. Coworker #2 also spoke up and we debated to see if we could even get in. GetTravel still had registrations available & I got the pricing out. Coworker #1 didn't make a decision within the week. Coworker #2 & I just decided to go for it. We're staying at the Pop Century, splitting the room, as that was the only hotel GetTravel had available but thats ok as it saves money for the two of us, plus if Coworker #1 decides to join us, we can call and add her in easily. So I guess the thrill of still being able to register even 1 month after its sold out sold me me doing it especially when I know I'm going with at least one of my coworkers who I like. This will be a very cheap trip. Not sure if we are doing the parks or not (I have an AP but don't know if coworker is buying tickets or not) I should look at ADRs out of the park for dinner that I know would be good pre-race food.

Usually it does for me too but I was just really frustrated.

Thanks! I'm happy I'm getting to go with one of my coworker friends, especially since she is in the cube across from mine. She is around the same pace as me but if we end up losing each other, it won't be a big deal.

I'm so jealous of all of you Disney runners that are doing ToT this year. Some day I will get that Tower medal!! :)

I'm really excited for the medal, although I'm not that excited for the lime green lanyard its on.

Thats good to know about being able to limit the activities I want to see on the app as obviously I don't care too much about the children activities.

We barely are going to be using our SSR room - we get in @ 7PM, we are going to head straight to DTD for dinner @ Fulton's and maybe some shopping at the marketplace store and then heading back for bed. We'll get breakfast & then head to the port!

August Week 4 Run Update

I’m posting in the top what the actual run plan was per what I originally had set. This week did not follow that very well. I had a wine dinner @ Sea Salt on Tuesday with 2 Co-Workers & I knew with the amount of travel going on Friday, we would not be able to get our set run in. As we are in that final stretch before the race - I didn’t want to skip completely but I still wanted to enjoy my life!

Monday August 25th
Plan - W12D7 - Rest Day
Actual - W13D1 - 50 Min Run

I took this run slow as it was really supposed to be a rest day. 3.1 miles in the 50 minutes so super slow pace.

Tuesday, August 26th
Plan - W13D1 - 50 Min Run
Actual - W12D7 - Rest Day

I had a wine dinner @ Sea Salt! Shaun had to close at work so I just enjoyed this with two of my girl friends from work.

Wednesday, August 27th
W13D2 - 40 Minutes Crosstraining

I actually ended up doing a double workout today. After I got home from work, I did 40 minutes on the bike at the gym. Got home & remembered that my coworkers & I were going to swim at 7PM at my coworker’s pool. We did 10 laps in the pool. It was super sluggish during the swim as I think all 4 of us were just beat from the day of work. We all were slower than normal!

I also got back all of my blood results from the wellness doctor my work has visits from on Wednesdays (just started a few weeks ago when I had my blood drawn) With the nutrient panel, it was clear I was low on Vitamin B12 & B5, Zinc, Chromium, Vitamin D (? I’m in the sun a fair amount), and Glutathione. I’m going to start 3 weeks of Glutathione & Vitamin B shots on September 10th. He believes this will also help out why I have another imbalance with some metabolic numbers on the amount of T3 or T4 count versus Tetrahyrdocortisol as for the amount of Free T3 or T4 (I don’t remember exactly which one), I should be making some really great strides in my muscle growth and endurance and weight loss. I guess we’ll see what happens.

Thursday, August 28th
Plan - W13D3 - Rest Day
Actual - W13D4 - 40 Minute Run

Actual - 30 Minute Run - 2 Miles so 15:00 pace.

Friday, August 29th
Plan - W13D4 - 50 Minute Run
Actual - W13D3 - Rest Day

I had to get to Disney didn’t I so I didn’t do anything extra. We did walk from Saratoga Springs to Fulton’s and back so that was a nice long walk!

Saturday, August 30th
W13D5 - 40 Minute Crosstraining

I actually got this done. Shaun & I spent sail off for our cruise in the gym on the bike - spent 40 minutes on it before getting ready for dinner.

Sunday, August 31st
Plan - 60 Min Run

This is when I hit the point in my training that I finished the training plan to the app. This run was supposed to be 140 minutes but well I had the cruise & I didn’t want to waste that much time of the sea day running in the fitness center. For the weeks following this, I set the final run at ToT 10 Miler & just went backwards filling in the dates again.

I didn’t actually get 60 minutes done though. I had a massage set for 8AM and needed to be able to shower before the massage as that just wouldn’t be nice to the massage therapist.

I ended up walking more of it than running. Our first night of the cruise, I may have enjoyed a fair amount of adult beverages that I will talk about later in my cruise trip report that I should start getting updated tomorrow.

September Week 1 Run Update

Monday, September 1st
Plan: Rest
Actual: 35 Minute Cross Training

I got 35 minutes done on the bike first thing this morning after we woke up early. I was attempting to not gain a lot of weight by the end of this cruise. It was a rough workout even with it just being on the bike.

Tuesday, September 2nd
Plan: 58 Minute Run
Actual: 40 Minute Walk

There will be a trend on this cruise - I had a lot to drink and eat but mainly drink. I woke up hungover this morning thanks to my Whiskey Tasting the evening before where I got back to the room at like 1AM but I still woke up at 7:00AM - ate a breakfast of 2 greasy Disney Hashbrowns (best things ever!) and then decided to get some type of workout done.

I walked 2 miles in 40 minutes but I could feel the booze sweating itself out.

We also snorkeled in Grand Cayman so that was an hour and a half of swimming so I guess that counts some too.

Wednesday, September 3rd
Plan: 40 Minute Cross Training
Actual: Rest Day

We only sleep in enough so that we could get breakfast before it was time for our excursion then the afternoon got busy with activities.

Thursday, September 4th
Plan: Rest Day
Actual: Rest Day

I’m on a cruise!

Friday, September 5th
Plan: 55 Min Run/Castaway Cay 5K
Actual: Castaway Cay 5K

Well, after 6 nights of eating, drinking, and enjoying our vacation, we got up at 7AM to run the Castaway Cay 5K. We met at the Tube @ 8AM and we were heading off the boat by 8:30AM, with the race starting around 8:50AM. This run was rough for both Shaun & I. It was hot and it was humid and we both were well not in a good shape to do this. He came in at 34 minutes. I came in at 50 minutes but we finished at least! Based on the amount of people behind me when I was doing the airport runway turn, I finished probably with 25% of the people still behind me which was good as well.

It also was a good wake up call on how to treat our bodies prior to ToT day. That Friday along with that Saturday - no alcohol & nothing fried & overload on the water. I knew the race was going to be bad that morning prior to the race as during my morning ‘go’ I knew I was super dehydrated. Even drinking 3 bottles of water between 7AM and the race start wasn’t enough to fix that.

Saturday, September 6th
Plan: 40 Minute Cross
Actual: Rest Day

There wasn’t a lot of extra time in today. We got off the boat at 7:30AM - drove home - unpacked - started laundry - grocery shopping - baby shower - and by the time all that was over, the gym was closed.

Sunday, September 7th
Plan: 50 Minute Run
Actual: 32 Minute Run

We started early doing this outside. Mentally, I was defeated about 15 minutes in & my husband’s feelings if you are done, you’re done so we turned around and headed home. I got 2.05 miles done @ 15:32 pace. We weighed ourselves after the cruise this morning & I think I was just down on myself. I took my measurements for a monthly health update but it turns out I’m up 2.5” in both my waist & hips and .5” in my thighs. Granted, I’m still down 4.5” in my waist, 3.75” in my hips and 4.5” in the thighs from the beginning of the year so thats something. I realize that some of that is just bloat thanks to bathing and drinking desalinated water for 7 days straight but I know some of it is real from my enjoyment of vacation. It just was a motivation killer for me.
