No Thunder Mountain or SDMT at MNSSHP?

Yeah it appears this will be the case. Very strange.
Very strange indeed. Haven't heard any talk of rehabs for either ride (anyway, BTMR had one last year, and 7DMT is still relatively new), could this just be another budget cut thing? Or do you think there is another reason?

I agree...hoping it's some sort of error. With Splash, BTMRR, and SDMT down during parties (which are already more crowded in recent years)...I can't imagine the guest experience is going to be good. We are in FL to visit my sister in October and planning to just come over to do the party - so rides at the party are more important to us this trip than others...making me question whether we should skip the party and just spend a day at AK to experience Pandora. This may be the first thing I ever "write a letter" to Disney about...I'd be interested in the rationale for this decision beyond saving money because they won't have to staff those attractions...

My only guess right now is cost cutting. I've never been to one of these parties but I don't think I'd focus on the rides anyways. That doesn't no mean they should be closed though.

That'd be my guess at the moment too. I went last year, and definitely did my fair share of rides alongside the Halloween offerings (parade, fireworks, show etc.). 7DMT had a 30-40 minute queue most of the night, and Big Thunder was down for refurb when I went. Just seems strange they'd have the most popular rides closed... I'm sure there are other ways to cut costs.

And taking cost cutting measures while also raising the cost of the tickets is....>:(

Focus isn't on the rides, though more than a few people use it as an excuse to get shorter line. Especially 7DMT still has decent lines still during the parties. Now you are going to start having lines at other rides/more people wandering and bumping into each other.

If this is actually true, and it looks to be, I will be sorely disappointed. We attend the parties for the atmosphere but also to take advantage of ride lines being shorter! With the cost of tickets being SO high I cannot fathom Disney taking away such heavy hitter rides!

True that rides aren't the focus for most people....but take away those popular rides and it will increase lines for the special characters, treat stations, and all the other party specific stuff. They are going to lose so many sales over this!

The bolded part. 100%. The darn tickets to the parties cost just as much as a park ticket in a couple day package. It's insane that a significant part of the park would be closed and people would still flock in. We went to the MVMCP last year. It was good. I wouldn't do it again AND buy park tickets for the day. One or the other. But, if you are closing half the park, I'll stick with my regular tickets. The special characters and special parade just doesn't make that much difference to me.

Agreed. If they close those rides for MVMCP I will add a park day to my 4 day pass instead. It will cost be about $80 compared to $400 for party tickets. No brainer.

That was my thought too. The 7dmt help keep a bunch of crowds during the party in one area waiting for that ride and now with that closed those crowds will be at other rides making those lines longer or at character meet and greets making those lines longer.

Exactly, and BOO on me for not checking what rides were available prior to purchasing, we went to MVMCP last year and just assumed (I know....I know....) that the ride list would be the same. UGH!

Someone just posted a link from Disney Parks Mom Panel where they seemed to confirm this -- but not sure how accurate it is. If this is accurate, will this be the first time they've closed these rides for MNSSHP? And why would they close them?

I would hope that they would lose ticket sales, but how many of the general public will actually pay attention to the ride list before they purchase? Honestly, coming form the west coast, I would just expect that most all rides (not including those under refurbishment) would be open...especially the popular ones!

This coupled with the fact that there are no AP or DVC discounts for the party dates while we will be there have convinced me not to go this year. At nearly $500 for my family, I'll put the money to something else.

Now confirmed on the Disney website: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/e...alloween-party/#/drawer=drawerOpenAttractions

Yes, it will be the first time, and I suspect its for cost-saving.

Also, i've heard that Disney is giving full refunds for those who wish to cancel party tickets.

I agree, its not worth it any more (especially with no discount). Maybe spend the money on a backstage tour or something. Definitely more worth it than MNSSHP this year.
