No Third Park for DLR

I just read this on another prominent site and hadn't seen it mentioned here. As a long time WDW nut/fan/expert, I'm a big proponent of multiple parks in one location. Having 4 different parks in Orlando really makes each day you go there a very unique experience. And while I really love the two parks at DLR, a third gate would've been pretty awesome and made DLR more than a 3 day trip for most vacationing guests. I would've loved to see a WestCot or DisneySeaAnaheim park.

"Iger says no third park for Anaheim

Although qualifiying that Disney "won’t rule that out forever," Disney CEO Bob Iger said during last week's company shareholder meeting that there are no plans to build a third theme park at the Disneyland Resort. Iger said that Disney does have plans to expand the resort, but that such expansion would happen at the existing two theme parks. Disney has yet to officially announce details about new attractions or a new land based on the Star Wars universe that Bob Iger mentioned late last year in an interview with Variety."

I never really thought it would happen anyway. They signaled their intention to be a shorter stay destination but cutting back to no more than 5 day tickets. It's not like they have unused hotel capacity they need to fill.

I'm also not surprised to hear that there are no plans to add a third park at this point. I wouldn't rule it out for the long-term future, but in the near-term, it does seems like they're focusing more on expanding the current parks and adding to them. Hopefully the future expansions/additions will all be as well-done (and popular) as Carsland.

I'd hope they fix Tomorrowland before they build anything new. Short of Space Mountain and Star Tours, that land is pretty bad in terms of rides, theme, flow, look, etc. Oh, Jedi Academy is a nice touch too. But Tomorrowland needs to be sooooo much better.

This is not news to me. It took more than 40 years to get a second park in Anaheim. This is just an old rumor that people have been clinging to ever since DCA opened. Anaheim isn't Lake Buena Vista. Disney can't just grab land and build here. If anything, I see Disney improving their resort footprint in the area at some point, in addition to adding more parking.

I could be wrong since I was only a kid maybe 11 at the time, but I thought that was completely established when they built dca. They sold all the land over where the garden walk is and built dca, leaving them no land to build anything else. I remember talking to a cast member as a kid back before dca was built, and him saying yes for years they were going to add a water park over on that land but now they decided to sell it. Again I could be wrong but for 15 years or more I have thought that there will never be any more parks at Disney, because the new garage, DtD and dca took up all the land and then they sold the garden walk land.
