No Swimmie Diapers in the Pool!

I don't know what the difference is between the disposable swim diapers (ie: huggies) or the reusable flap happy ones. Someone please tell me so I can understand.

It seems to me they both don't hold in urine, but they both hold in poop (not bacteria because they are porus). How could the flap happy ones be acceptable and not the disposable ones?

Also has anyone else had to clean up an accident in the reusable ones - I have and it is not fun and oh what a mess. The disposable ones, like I said before, you can just rip the sides and treat it like a regular diaper and it is so much easier to clean up.

Lisa, the disposable swim diapers are belived to hold in less because they aren't snug fitting. I don't know how your kid(s) are built, but my son is very thin thorugh the middle & the disposable ones for his weight are too big in the waist. He has no butt I still have him in the smaller size and cover it with a plastic swim diaper because I feel it holds things in better.

I always change his diaper & clean him off before swimming. I bet he's cleaner than some adults. He's never done #2 in the pool, and we do swim fairly often. I guess it's just luck. I know nothing's perfect, but it's the best I can do!

Where do you find the information from Dinsey on what they will except in the pools? Does it say anywhere that swim diapers are a no and flap happy are a go???

Sorry to jump in here w/out introducing myself, but I had to tell you what I found out. We're cruising on the 9/1 4-day. We have a 3.5 DS who is potty trained, but I still put swimmies on him to be safe. We also have a 17 month old DS who is obviously not toilet trained. First of all, I don't care if a child is trained or not, s/he will still go pee in the pool (sorry to be graphic, but I remember when I was growing up). Since we're cruising so soon, I called DCL and asked. The CM I spoke with asked a supervisor, and here's the lowdown. All children MUSt wear "swimwear". When I asked for clarification, she said a bathing suit. I asked if they could wear the swimmie under the bathing suit, and the answer was yes, as long as they had bathing suits on. Makes no sense, but at least we're good for the cruise.

Sounds like the policy is not no swimmie diapers, but no swimmie diapers without a bathing suit over them?

Whatever! We will be armed with bathing suits, disposable swim diapers, non-disposable swim diapers & a list of the "common sense" rules!

This is what I usually do - I put her bathing suit over her swimmer diaper.

The ONE time I made the mistake of not putting the swimmer diaper on and just the bathing suit (the one with the diaper built in) she pooped (this is of course the only time she pooped) and boy was it a mess to clean. I learned my lesson - swimmer diaper under the bathing suit = much easier to clean.

Always bring more than one bathing suit because again the swimmer diaper holds in the poop but not the bacteria so it will have to get washed before it can be used again.

Woobie, this is good news. Thanks for making that call. I always put a bathing suit on over the swim diaper so hopefully we'll have no problems. Let us know when you get back next week what exacting the lifeguards are saying. I am leaving 9/7/02 so I need to make sure I have what I need.

I have packed one suitcase with 50 diapers and 24 swim diapers for the 2 yr old and 14 pull ups for my 4 yr old who wears them to bed "just in case". Needless to say the diapers nearly take up 3/4 of a suitcase and then I filled the rest with juice boxes and snacks. My DH thinks I am crazy but I will have an empty suitcase to take home!

Just a bit of info I found funny......Disney is so organized and professional that when there is a #2 in any pool.....they even have a term the cast members use to alert to it.....

In Disney language the floater is referred to as an "A.F.R." Which translates to: Accidental Fecal Release !!!!

I was hysterical the first time I heard that one!
So if you hear a Cast Member on their radio mentioning an "AFR" yank your kids out of the pool!

I also heard two CM's standing together refer to it as the "Pooh Pool." I think someone else here mentioned that also.

I also emailed DCL today questioning what my infant is/isn’t allowed to wear in the kids pool. I am awaiting a reply...hopefully everyone at DCL is on the same page with the info they are giving out. Time will tell!!
