Howdy,
I have a question for any recent cruisers.

I just read a post on another thread where the lady said a Disney rep told her they no longer allow any kids in swim diapers in the pools even the kiddie areas.

Last month on the Wonder they had a great new water area just for toddlers who were not potty trained and they must wear swim diapers.

So now I would like to know , did I miss a major policy change, or was she given bad information??

Thanks for your help,

They don't allow swim diapers in the pool, because quite frankly, they don't hold everything in. If there is an accident, they have to drain the pool and clean it and then refill it. This can take quite awhile.

The splash area is totally separate and doesn't require emptying to clean, therefore, I would think they would allow swim diapers in the splash area.

Does that make sense? HTH :)

I think it was mis-communicated as to where they were allowed. Pools, NO - the Mickey ear & new splash area - YES..

That was my understanding, too.
My daughter would be heartbroken if she couldn't use the toddler area!

Techinically, swim diapers are not legal in any public pool. My cruise 3 weeks ago on NCL, they even had a sign on the pool saying no swim diapers, and no ADULT diapers in the pool.

That was my understanding too. My grandkids always used the special mickey ear and now the new splash area on the Wonder.

but this lady swears she was told there is NO area on either ship for kids in swim diapers. I was sure she was wrong.

Thanks for your repsonses, I didnt think I could miss a major change like that.

Actually, I can tell you that from our cruise on the Wonder in February, with our then 17 month old daughter who was in swim diapers, it was NO swim diapers in any pool (including either Mickey ear), although they did not enforce it at all in the Goofy pool, but YES to swim diapers in the toddler play splash area.

While I understand the policy, I think it leads to greater confusion and more issues, because it almost punishes people for being responsible and putting their child in a swim diaper versus just taking the child to the pool commando and taking their chances in a regular bathing suit. In the end it just comes down to personal responsibility...

Anyway, the toddler splash area was plenty fun for her & we got some great memories out of it...

So there's "The Mickey Ear" and a separate "Splash Area" for toddlers?

Me so confused

Mickey's Pool

Who wouldn't want to swim in a pool with ears? Little kids adore this space, especially the water slide that's been designed just for them, and the ears which are actually wading pools for the littlest ones. Delight in the yummy food from Pluto's Dog House Snack Bar and the ice cream concoctions from Scoops. And most of all, splash away in this really fun place with Mickey's face!

Young children, who are not toilet trained, are welcome to enjoy the fountain play area near the Mickey Pool that has been designed exclusively for the enjoyment of children wearing swim diapers.

The slide is for ages 4 to 14: maximum height 64", minimum height 38".

I too am having to think through just what my 2 year old will do on the cruise. He cannot swim in the Mickey pool and cannot attend the kids clubs. I also read where the characters no longer come to the tables at the character breakfast any longer. It seems the little ones do not have a whole lot to do on the Disney cruises.

On the Wonder they have a splash area for toddlers in swim diapers and on the Magic they have one ear that is for toddlers in swim diapers. Theother ear is for tots who are potty trained but not ready for the bigger part of the pool.

The Wonders splash area. water jets blast up all over this area.
The kids love it.
